my turn signals only work with the steering wheel tilted all the way up. It works for me, but my wife drives the truck mostly because we live a mile from her work. The dealer said it was a "peanut connector." And can someone walk me through the steps to fixing it?
View 8 RepliesWorking on my bosses 97 Econoline conversion van. The steering wheel was flopping in the breeze, gear indicator was off and some of the time it would be in reverse when you thought it was in park. Checked the torx on the shift cable plate and they are tight. Replaced the 2 bushings on the shift column. They tightened up the steering wheel flopping around. I checked the shift cable and it appears to be in good shape.
It would start sometimes if you worked the shifter in park or moved it to neutral. Now it will not turn over. Shift lock actuator does not appear to be working. Does not lock it park. No continuity between any of the three pins with the actuator pushed in or out. If you turn the key you can take it out of park without pushing on the brake. Really do not know the series of events that have to occur to make it turn over. How to trouble shoot the problem?
I took my truck to work and needed a pitman arm. So took it home put a new one on and the steering wheel was crooked which didn't bother me. but after in cranking the torsion bars I noticed how Badly I needed an alignment. So took it back in for an alignment and I cant turn the steering wheel back to center because the tie rods are maxed out. I tried to take the pitman arm back off center the wheel and everything but the key ways just line up the same way. Any chance the after market pitman arm is off or any clues?
View 11 RepliesMy wife asked me yesterday what was that "clicking" sound when I turned. I never noticed it before, now I notice it constantly.
With the wheels straight - activate either side turn signal. Now turn the whee IN the direction your signal is activated, notice a clic-clic-clic??
Then when you turn back towards straight the signal will de-activate and the clicking is gone. This an indication the multi-function switch is going?
I have a 1998 Ford F150. The turn signals do not work nor the hazard flashers. When I trun on the hazard flashers(they do not come on) the turn signals will then work. Checked all fuses both under dash and in the engine compartment. With flashers turned on and using the turn signals, the relays located in engine compartment are working. It appears that the only way for the turn signals to work is to recieve power through the hazards.

View 9 RepliesI have a "rapid blink" when I engage the right turn signal. It doesn't do it all the time. When I checked it, the rear was blinking and the front appeared to be out. Changed the right front bulb, but the problem didn't go away. So, I changed the rear bulb. Still didn't cure it. Now I'm confused. I thought for sure "rapid blink" was caused by a bad bulb. What else could it be, Flasher unit? Bad ground?
View 14 RepliesI have a 1997 F150 5.4L 2wd long bed w/ tow package.
Right (passenger) turn signal/brake light is not illuminating. The tail light on the right side does illuminate when headlights are on. (Same Bulb) All other lights are functioning properly.
When the MFS is in the right turn position the right arrow on the dash flashes and clicks faster than normal.
This happened about a month ago and it turned out to be a blown fuse. The fuse was for the trailer lighting and right turn/stop light, found in the small fuse box under the hood that only holds 2 fuses. Problem solved temporarily...
Now the issue is back, Here are some things I've tried so far:
Replaced the fuse again; Turns out the fuse didn't blow this time, but I tried a new one anyway.
Cleaned the ground for the rear light wiring harness.
Replaced the bulb.
Replaced the relay.
Checked continuity on multi-function switch, right turn position reads 2.8 ohms IIRC
Repaired pin #5 on the multi-function switch wiring connector (wire backed out, right turn related)
Replaced the bulb socket.
Inspected the wiring for broken insulation/exposed wires from that socket to under the hood, didn't find anything exposed. All wires are still in the loom.
I replaced this wiring harness and wiring looms about 6 months ago because the previous owner had done a hideous splice job for unknown reasons, so it should be ok. Should I get a new multi-function switch, or try something else? If the switch doesn't work what's the next step?
How to replace the turn signal bulb that is in the mirror on a 2001 f150 supercrew? My Haynes and Chiltons books dont say a thing about replacing this bulb.
View 1 RepliesI have a tow haul problem with my 2008 F350 6.4L. It will not go into tow haul unless I tilt steering wheel up all the way and than slam it down and than it will engage. Than when I want to take it out, I have to shut off truck. Any wiring diagram and info on how to get at the wiring. Do I have to disarm Air Bag and pull Steering wheel?
View 13 RepliesI have 1999 Ford F-150 xlt and on the passenger side the brake and turn signal don't work but reverse light does. On the driver's side, everything works so I switch bulbs and outlets and it still doesn't work but two of the wires for trailer hook up and cut. I was wondering if that had anything to do with that.
View 2 RepliesI have checked all wires for krosion and fuse's are good so confused! Just put brand new tail lights bulbs in! The top one comes on as a running light but nothing else works. I also checked under hood fuses too!
1.Only Hazard light that works is on the Right Front passenger side.
2 Drivers side Brake Light & Turn Signal Doesn't Work. But passenger works fine! Left turn signal is out and blinks really fast!
3.Passenger Side Overhead Outside Light on cab is out . Okay that's probably just a bulb!
The leather on my steering wheel was peeling off and I brought it up to the dealer and out of their goodwill, they decided to replace it with a completely new one. Props to the dealer. However this is where all the problems start to occur. I drop off the car This past Sunday and pick up a loaner. I get a call the next day saying my car is ready. So I get there and everything seems good.
There's an open road that I like to take home but this is where I noticed something weird. When my steering wheel was level, the car was veering right.. I had to tilt the steering wheel a little left to go straight . I call the dealership right away and they tell me to bring it back. So I do that and pick up another loaner.
Following day , I go back to the dealership and they tell me they fixed the alignment. Now everything is good! I was yet again wrong. When I got home, I noticed my steering wheel was weird.
So taking the car back tomorrow to get this fixed! Still props to the dealer for giving me a brand new steering wheel..
Is there a button, function etc that will allow me to disable the telescopic steering wheel tilt-away feature ? I would rather not have the steering wheel move every time I insert/remove the key. LX570 2014 ..
View 8 RepliesI have a 2009 Accent GLS. I bought it used, but it came fully loaded- AC, power everything- in fact, I checked the package list and everything that was an option, I found in my car. I never thought to check for the tilt steering wheel, though.
Recently, I decided to try and play around with it. I feel the lever there to pull and adjust it, however, it seems stuck. The lever just won't move. Is there some special way to release it to tilt the steering wheel?
Not that I need it tilted a certain way, just a minor thing I was wondering about.
1994 Econoline E350. All the other lights work but on the front right the turn signal light flashes but the Hazard lite will not flash. I check for power at the wire at the light and there is none.
View 6 RepliesI LOVE my new 2015 RX. I took delivery just a few weeks ago (07/11/14) and just hit the 1K mark! This car is so nice, and solid I truly am so happy and proud to have it.
One little *little* thing that I did notice.. is that over the past few days.. I notice that when I get in the car, or exit.. and the automated tilt steering wheel moves up or down, it make a very loud, and defined "squeak" noise. Specifically happens in the lower end, (i.e. when the wheel is near the bottom of the travel, as I have the wheel set to the lowest setting). the upper part of the travel seems fine.
Is this something I can fix myself with grease of some type? I would hate to have to block off a day, take to the dealer, get a loaner car.. and then go back etc.. plus.. I hate going to the dealer.. I am of the mindset that they generally cause more issues. (What if they scratch something, sit on the edge of my leather seats and make creases, etc.. ) so, if there is a way I can fix it.. I am all for it.
How to turn this off? I managed to turn off the driver's side auto-slider but can't figure out how to turn off the steering wheel portion. I'm not a big fan of the entry/exit assist. I kind of feel that all that movement will wear out the motor over time. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid.

I read elsewhere that it could be a problem with the flasher module but how to find this on my van. What I should check for first and how/where to find it on my van?
