When I have my a/c on, every time I step on the throttle it changes where the air comes out of the vents . Under normal power the air blows out the front vents, step on the throttle and it switches to defrost , let back off and it goes back to normal.?????
View 6 RepliesI have a 2002 Ex with the 7.3. Every time I put it into 4x4, the A/C automatically switches to the windshield defrost vents. After a couple minutes it switches back the the A/C vents. I'm assuming that isn't normal.

View 7 RepliesMy 2005 F250 just had the cab off in December for head studs and gaskets. Its a Crew Cab short bed FX4 so it has ESOF. When I engage 4x4 the blower will switch from blowing air out of the vents to blowing air out of the windshield defrost. Is a vacuum line plugged in wrong somewhere, or is one cracked? Trying to figure this out, its rather annoying
View 2 Replies2006 f350 DRW King Ranch diesel with 94,000 miles on it. When I shift in to 4x4 the AC switches to defrost and then takes 2 min to return to the vents. I imagine this is a vacuum leak issue. Where to start hunting? I pulled the dash for another install and all lines were connected. I will say the vacuum pump stays on longer than normal when the ignition is first activated.

When I run my a/c, the airflow intensity level changes, and the system switches to defrost about every 5 minutes or so (even when there is absolutely no need for defrost). I continually have to set the system back to my comfort level. What causes this, and how do I fix it?

View 14 RepliesI have a 2003 Model F150 4x4 that has always ran good for me, and has only had minor issues ever since I've had it. Not too bad considering it has 266,xxx miles on it and running 100 miles a day on the original motor & transmission.
Here's my problem - my air conditioning will only blow thru the defrost. I can hit vent on the control panel and it will blow thru the vents, but if i hit max ac it switches to defrost. It has gotten super hot around here and i really need this to work correctly. I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff (have worked more on older vehicles) so i guess I'll need a fairly detailed reply if possible. I have looked under the hood looking for messed up vacuum lines but haven't seen any that looked bad.
Every thing was working great then the AC quit. I ran through the air selector and all I can get is panel and defrost with no heat. I checked the vacuum line on the passenger side engine compartment and it looks good. Oh I also took the control apart and 3 of the five holes had vacuum to them.

Drove the truck on a trip the other day, about 650 miles with a loaded 5x8 trailer in tow. A/C started acting weird. When the truck was on level ground, or going down hill, the A/C was fine. Cold air coming out the correct dash vents. As soon as I started up hill, or put the truck under strain of acceleration, the A/C would stop blowing out the dash vents and would start coming out the floor or defrost vents, or just not come out anywhere.
When I turned the A/C off and just used the vent setting, it would do the same thing with the fresh air. I guessing this has something to do with my vacuum lines, somewhere. What I should be looking for and where?
Just recently under heavy throttle my a/c will stop coming through dash and goes to defrost??

View 7 RepliesI have been fighting this surging issue for a while. I noticed when it starts to surge i could turn off the a/c and it would quit. It only surges when i am only at a very min throttle. Does this make sense? What can I do to fix it?

I am having a strange issue with the transmission in my 02 F150 with the 5.4, but it only happens when it`s cold outside and the truck is warm, typically after shutting off the truck and starting it back up (like if I stop at the store for something).
Basically, it clunks around at low throttle, especially around 50-55 MPH. Sometimes, it will act strange as I roll to a start, but typically it`s fine up until there. If I hit the gas it shifts just fine, but it acts up at constant speed/throttle.
I am hoping that its a sensor or something that's confused vs. needing a rebuild or new torque converter.
I have a different issue than the typical heat on max ac. Mine is actually cold, it just sends all the air to the defrost vents when i apply the throttle. Comes back to the dash vents when I let off the gas.
I know that it's vacuum lines or solenoid, I just wanted to see if any guess on which specific line to check or any other info since I do NOT have a gauge to measure the vac lines for pressure.
I need to clean my throttle body on my '97 F-150 and it has a label saying not to clean directly. Is it still safe to use TB cleaner and to go ahead and clean it? It needs done but how would I go about it.
View 6 RepliesI have a 1997 f150 with the 4.6l triton that just started to make a squealing noise. I have replaced a couple of pulleys that were bad but that did not get rid of the problem. It only makes the noise when I give it some gas and it is coming from around the fan clutch area.
View 5 RepliesThe Throttle Body on my 2001, 4.6 L is making a strange whirring noise, when you puy your hand on the intake pipe, you can feel a slight vibration. The Truck idles and runs okay, with no codes. Giving it a little gas and the noise goes away. The last thing I did was clean the IAC with Gum Out Carb cleaner, the second or third time I've done this over many years, with no problems. I'm a little perplexed at the cause.
View 6 RepliesMy 01 Super Crew 5.4l is missing at light throttle. Cruise control on flat hwy, no miss, slight incline, starts missing. Put my foot into it and either it stops missing or it covers it up where I don't notice it. No codes set at this point. It's got about 135k on it and for all I know it may have had the original plugs in it so I figured I'd change them. Changed the plugs, still misses. Shortly a code set, something about the EGR sensor (it's got another name but I forget what it is at 1:30am). I found I had broken a hose while changing plugs, fixed it, no more code, still misses.
When I sent my GF up to get the non-existent codes checked the parts guy sold her some Lucas fuel system cleaner. I'm figuring a COP going out but the cleaner pretty much completely fixed the miss, till that tank of gas was gone. Few tanks later and it's back again as bad as ever. I bought some seafoam as I've had good luck with that in the past. It almost completely fixes the miss but I get a rare 'bump'. What do I need to look at next? Can it be the fuel filter? I'd think no because I'd figure it'd be even worse at greater throttle opening. Injector? How do I check them?
