The red light on the door interior on a 03 f150 extended cab are they reflectors? Or do they come on because mine don't come on.

View 2 RepliesA little history first. 1998 F-150XL ... We bought this truck in 2001 and other than some random electrical issues we love this truck. The first thing to go bad was the was the interior light staying on even with the door closed, no big deal I just removed the bulb, the next thing to go bad was the instrument cluster except the speedometer, not too big of a deal just keep track of the mileage so you don't run out of gas. The next problem was randomly not starting like it lost its ground, the lights on the dash would be bright until you hit the starter then the lights on the dash would go dim and the starter would tap like it had no ground. Wait a few minutes and it would start again and it would be a year before it would do it again, until now!
Drove to town came back out did it again except this time would not start again. We pulled the starter switch it was good, replaced the clutch engagement switch on the clutch pedal, no good. Decided to pull it home, tried to pop start it, no dice. While pulling home all the sudden everything lit up on the dash and it started like a champ, drove it the rest of the way home and it wouldn't start back up. Since then I have put in a new battery, new battery wire ends, took lose the ground on the firewall and starter and cleaned them with no luck. I can get the lights to come up bright on the dash again, but as soon as I hit the starter all goes dead again. I am at a complete loss where to go next?
how do make interior lights cut off when the door is shut instead of the delay
View 1 RepliesHave a 97 F150 4.2 that won't start. The lights come on in the interior. Dash lights all come on, turn the key and nothing. Replaced the solenoid on the firewall and no go. Was able to jump it at the solenoid on the firewall and it started. Not sure what's causing this.
View 2 RepliesLike the subject says, I have been noticing over the last 2 months in my 03 GX470 that the interior lights and open door dash light come on when accelerating.
-The issue is exacerbated in cold weather. I have double checked all doors and rear hatch are closed.
-I have gone around and checked all door sensors are functioning, not sticky, etc.
-I climbed in the rear hatch and had my wife shut it. When I push on the plastic under the window, the lights come on. When I push on the glass itself (and push MUCH harder then on the plastic) the lights do not come on.
Clearly I have an issue in the rear hatch trim area.
when i bough the car i went on a test drive and everything was fine, once i bough it and went home my fiance opened the passanger side door to get in, and every sense than the door ajar light is on and the inside lights will never turn off and its draining down the battery, we have tried slamming the door shut and we just dont know what to do, theres not even a sensor botton to check out theres no way to tell what it could be for me as when i open the door to check out the botton like most vehicles do, there isnt one, what could it be?
View 9 RepliesMy 2001 f150 is having a issue with the dome light. Sometimes when I park with the truck leaning to the right the dome light won't shut off when closing the door. What is the name of the switch that shuts the dome off? I assume it is located behind the kick panel.
View 1 RepliesMy front interior light/map lights combination does not come on when the doors open. The rear seat and cargo area lights work when the doors open. Do the front interior lights are not designed to work in conjunction with the other lights when the door is opened?
View 6 RepliesYesterday I changed two burned out light-bulbs in the a/c control panel. When I tested them after dark they worked as designed. An hour or so later my brother-in-law called me to tell me my interior lights were on. When I walked out to check the lights were off. This morning my wife drove the truck to the store and called me to tell me the interior lights were staying on. Didn't have this problem before replacing those burned out bulbs.
View 2 RepliesWith my 2003 PSD 6.0L, I would lock all doors with interior lock button and lock driver's door with the key. Can I do the same with my 2015 PSD 6.7 L or is there another easier/simpler way?
View 14 RepliesI have a 1997 ford f-150 flareside 4x4 and the interior lights have not worked since I purchased the truck.I checked the bulb and it was burnt out so I replaced it and still does not work.
The truck was hit on the 3rd door on the passenger side before I bought it and I think they may have done something to keep the interior light from coming on by accident when not shutting the door all the way.
I checked the number 14 fuse which is where I think the interior fuse it on this truck, what I could check to be my problem?
Did a search and read the manual and I cant seem to turn of the dome lights when I open the doors. For example... Sometimes my daughter falls asleep and I want to open the door at night without the lights coming on... Or If the mosquitoes are going crazy I might want to turn off the light so I don't get killed... I know I can hold the switch to the right and it turns lights on with doors closed, and hold for a second to the left to turn off. But what about opening the door? I know my old 2007 was able to do this function...
View 13 RepliesMy '99 F150 suddenly lost all interior heater/ac fan control settings except for Hi. Is it the switch or something else in the circuit?
View 8 RepliesI have a '00 Ford ranger and a '99 f-150 , when leaving the doors open , interior lights go off after 10-15 minutes in the ranger but not on my 150. Is there a relay or something aftermarket that makes this possible on the 150 ?
View 3 RepliesI have an '03 Screw which I've noticed now has an intermittent muted beep coming from somewhere in the interior of the vehicle. I've had the truck for 9 years, and this is the first time I've noticed it. It seems to come randomly but no more frequent than 2-3 minutes apart. As I am typically driving the vehicle, I cannot stop to locate the source. It reminds me of the low battery beep on my Blackberry, but like it's tucked away in the console or glove box (I checked - it's not the BB...).
I have a recurring SES light which is attributed to cylinders 1&4 misfire (discussed at length in a different thread), but I don't know what would cause this beep. I have read about the 5x5 "airbag light" beep, but this doesn't seem consistent with that. It does not seem like a repeating pattern - just a single beep, which sometimes varies slightly in length but is consistent in pitch and volume.
It's another thing in the growing list of gripes that are pushing me toward selling it. Just afraid of something big coming along unexpectedly... trying to manage the little things so they don't turn into that big one.
Is there a replacement for temp and compass (interior center ceiling)?
What is the last year a Ford F150 was made with 16 inch tires?
My dear husband is not computer savvy.
2001 Passat 1.8T ... The switch is in the correct position and the light comes on when the passenger door is opened. What causes the light to activate? I cannot find a switch anywhere on the door frame. Maybe a magnetic switch in the door?
View 2 RepliesI noticed this morning that since last night the passengers side red interior door light stays on after the door is shut. The dome light shuts off once the door is closed however the red light does not. I've checked all four door light sensors that actuates the interior lighting but they all function correctly without any resistance or stickiness. The drivers side red interior light functions as it should but the passengers side stays on all the time.
I'm worried the battery will be drained if the light continues to stay on. I'd light to figure out why this is happening. If I choose to remove the bulb will there will be a draw on the battery? And do I have to remove the entire door panel in order to remove the bulb?
Have a problem with a couple electric items in my 2001 Honda CR-V. The interior dome light no longer comes on when I open any of the doors. HOWEVER, when I turn the key off, the dome light DOES come on, stays on for a few seconds or until I open any door. What causes this? Fuse? Circuit board? Short in one of the door sensors? This seemed to have started sometimes after I got it back from a body shop from a minor collision that affected the sheet metal only, did not require major mechanical fixing. The clock in the center of the dash went out... maybe at the same time, perhaps just similar time. Have not been able to confirm if it works when removed from the car.
View 6 RepliesMy interior lights work only when I switch them on but not when the door is opened. Is the switch up near the map light easy to service? Any tricks or shortcuts?
View 3 RepliesI get in the car and the light is off. I open the drivers side door and the light wont go on. I am driving and open the door no warning no light. Where the sensor is for the door? I don't have a bently. How to trouble shoot this or diag it?
