My rear window is leaking on my '97 f-150. When it rains water gets in on the passenger side only. I know from reading that this is a common problem. I've tightened up the fasteners that hold the window in place, but it still leaks. Could the high mount brake light be the entry point? Is there supposed to be a gasket behind it? Or is any water that may get behind it supposed to be channeled away somehow?
View 14 RepliesI have unfortunately discovered that rain is coming through the rear window of my truck. If it was a big job to fix it. The caulking appears to be rotten and I'm wondering if some goop will seal it up. I'm just not sure how to get the trim off!!

View 10 RepliesPatching cracks of the rear window frame? I am talking about the actual glass casing assembly and the cracks are viewable from inside the cab of the truck. I've found two small cracks and that is exactly where the water will stream in.
I was just about to pull the rear window out to replace the butyl seal when I pinpointed the cracks. So is it possible to use some RTV, form a gasket, or JB weld or something else to patch these cracks?
Are the sliding rear windows more prone to cracking? If so I'll probably replace the assembly with a solid rear window. Where I should purchase a replacement window?
While sitting at the heliport waiting on the rain to stop I noticed my rear window is leaking right above the sliding window. I'm kinda worried about this while I'm offshore because I have a power sliding window and I don't want it to ruin anything that moves the window. Do these trucks have a problem with this and where do I start to look at to fix this?

View 4 RepliesI have an 02 extended cab F150 and whenever it rains the rear window leaks (it doesnt have a slider, it's solid) and the half doors leak too... i sealed the back window with caulk to try and fix it and it worked for about 2 storms and then it started to leak again. The side doors leak at the seam where they meet the front doors... Should i order new seals for the windows? or is there a simpler way to do it that isnt as expensive..
View 9 RepliesMy 2002 has a sliding rear window. I noticed the rubber weatherstripping pieces that seal the sliding piece of glass was out of place. I slid the window open and it fell off. I then looked at the others and they were being held on by a thread.
I took them off. There is black rubber or weatherstrip adhesive in the tracks the strips came from. Do I need to scraped that out and reapply adhesive? Is there a video or tutorial on this somewhere?
Replacing a seal for a rear window? My '04 Ranger is leaking from... somewhere. I can trace at least part of it back to the rear window (but I'm wondering about the windshield as well, just based on my luck). I'd be willing to repair it myself, but I'm not above paying a pro if the work is over my head. I'm looking through some Ford-specific sites as well but no luck..

View 3 RepliesI have an 04 lariat extended cab truck with the sliding rear window, but i have a leak somewhere back there. I have noticed that water literally drips right in the top middle of the window, but around the window is dry. Also, the roof interior trim is wet at the corners in the rear closest to the door. i do have a cracked 3rd brake light, is that the reason it is leaking or is there a seal somewhere else outside on top of the truck, maybe around the rear window as a whole?
View 3 RepliesA while back I noticed the rear window washer wasn't spraying much water onto the window, then found water inside the boot (trunk) and saw there was water dripping onto the parcel shelf when I operated the rear washer and wiper.
As the car was only 6 months old at that time I didn't go fiddling around with things, thought I'd best wait until the 15,000 km service was due, which was today.
When I brought it in for the service I told the Man it was leaking. At pick up time he said they didn't find any leaks so I put the washer and wiper on and after a few seconds there was water dripping inside the rear window. So the car went back in to the mechanics who took out the plastic stoplight lens and after a few minutes the Man said that the plastic around where the water comes out was cracked.
OK, well fix it then I said. He felt it was unlikely that Hyundai would consider this a warranty issue. He agreed there was no other damage around the area and that I couldn't have caused this by backing into anything but I would need to buy a whole new lens.
Just picked up my 2012 2dr. GTI. My first wash and I noticed the left rear stationary window leaking from the inside. ( not impressed ). It is going back to be fixed under warranty but wonder if the seal and window are one or two piece and what is involved in this repair? Hopefully the person doing it has done it before and not using a tube of silicone to repair it. What to expect for a proper repair.
View 9 RepliesI have a 1997 ford explorer, the passenger side rear window only works in one direction, I have tested motor and it does work in both directions reversing the polarity, checked switch by checking voltage on each prong of plug (where motor plugs into harness), and does get 12 volts on each line as switch is being activated,I think there may be a ground problem on the one side that does not work, where to start looking??
View 1 RepliesI just purchased an 97 E350 (15 Passenger) and I notice that the two rear heater lines (along the driver side) are rotted and is showing sign of minor leakage. Can I simply replace them with rubber heater hoses or do I need to get the factory heater lines?
View 6 Replies2008 crew cab - passenger front window will not respond at all from master driver side switch. from the passenger side switch it goes down only. I purchased new regulator/motor assembly on advise from an experienced mechanic and a service manager from a Ford dealership. The new motor does the same thing - down but not up and only from the passenger switch. An Autozone manager said that was wrong advise. that if the motor went in one direction it was fine and it was a switch problem. I purchased a new main driver side master switch....same problem.

View 2 RepliesI have a 97 expedition It started a month ago crossing the border, I stopped at customs booth drivers side window would not go down. During the next couple of days the drivers side window would go down by itself, and I would have to bring the window back up. I have done alot of research on line everyone was telling me it was the GEM Module.
The window switch is good and the window regulator is good. Brought to my neighborhood mechanic, he said he was 90% sure that it was the GEM Module, he even said that he was tapping on the GEM Module and the window would go down on it's own. I decided to order a GEM Module online to fit my vehicle, received it on Saturday, installed it. [found no moisture around module] Same Problem, window would not go down. Now I have the drivers side motor unplugged from the switch.
