I have a 1998 f 150 v8 4.6 ltr xlt. A mechanic told me that if my tranny gets hot the OVERDRIVE LIGHT will start to blink. It sounds strange to me, should I have a guage installed? I will be towing a trailer this summer.
View 8 RepliesI have a 1999 F-150 w/ 4.2 V6. and auto trans, truck has 219,000 miles on chassis but only 25,000 on engine and 10,000 on trans. I've been getting obd codes p0705 and p0715. I replaced the position sensor on outside of trans. but I continue to get the codes off and on again. I noticed that the O/D "OFF" light on the shift selector blinks simultaneously when the "service engine soon" light comes on. I've noticed that there is no low gear unless I have it in D from a dead stop, and not even when downshifting manually.

View 4 RepliesMy truck is starting to shift strange. As it warms up and I'm in drive, it will shift between drive and 2nd by itself. When I pull up to a stop lite, it's like it's stuck in drive and doesn't downshift. Ultimately it dies. I've checked my fluid and its fine. Any ideas? Oh and my engine light is on. Can a parts store find the code for the issue I'm having?
View 1 RepliesOk, so I got a really wierd problem with headlights. 2001 F150, Supercrew, 4x4, 5.4L Auto lights and fog lights. Sitting with ignition off, light switch in "off" position, doors not locked - lights will occasionally blink off and on(more of a flicker). Symptoms go away if I lock with remote.
With engine running, lights "on" position. Turned lights to "park", they started to flicker, back to on, still flickering. Switched to off, still flickering. Switched to "auto", lights stayed on with no flickering.
When lights flicker, I can hear a rapid clicking under the dash somewhere(relay of some sort?). Headlight is a bit wobbly. But when I wiggle it, it has no effect on flickering. From what I remember, likely culprit is the GEM module.
Question: does a new module have to be programmed in any way or is it plug and go? I have a new headlight switch coming.
1997 Ford Ranger Manual. The blinkers are on and light up they'd just don't blink . Don't know what to do all fuses seem to check out.
View 2 RepliesI have a "rapid blink" when I engage the right turn signal. It doesn't do it all the time. When I checked it, the rear was blinking and the front appeared to be out. Changed the right front bulb, but the problem didn't go away. So, I changed the rear bulb. Still didn't cure it. Now I'm confused. I thought for sure "rapid blink" was caused by a bad bulb. What else could it be, Flasher unit? Bad ground?
View 14 Replies2000 powerstroke 4r100 transmission. It has 155k just had it rebuilt and the shop is having a night as am I. It was shifting hard and the o/d off light would start flashing after you drove it a while. Its still doing the same thing and the shop checked the whole wiring harness and replaced the accumulator twice believing they got a bad re-manufactured one. The only code I can pull is a 605 pcm read only memory error. Could the cause be a bad pcm? The shop doesn't seem to have a clue at this point and I'm out 2500. IV taken it back twice now and Iv driven it a total of 35 miles since the rebuild...
View 1 RepliesMy passenger side front signal light works properly, but when I turn my hazard lights on it will not blink normally (the other 3 blink). Inside my truck when looking at my dash I see the small green blinking arrow for the left signal, but not for the right when the hazards are on. When using the signal normally, I see the small blinking green arrow for the right signal though.

View 9 RepliesI was driving on freeway today and the car start to stutter sounds like it's not getting gas the engine light to blink, so quickly exit the freeway and pull over the parking lot, turn the car off. Scan the car I got 5 codes all misfire 1,3 and 4 cylinder miss fire, I try to start the car it would crank but and try to run but if would die quickly sound like the car is not getting gas. Just wondering if fuel pump going bad.

View 19 RepliesI have a 1997 F150 4 x 4 with the 5.4 overdrive transmission. When I accelerate from a stop I can feel the slip of the transmission until I reach exactly 35 miles an hour. Above 35 seems to be normal and have plenty of torque.
The funny thing about this is I have had a 2001 Windstar same 35 miles an hour. I have also owned a 1997 Ford Explorer with this exact same issue. Three different motor and trans combination that will not lock up until you reach 35 miles an hour.
The truck has 213,000 I have replaced all coils fuel filters catalytic converter and torque converter. Have exterior tranny cooler. engine runs good and strong. And no code I have a reader.
I have 97 f150 x-cab 4.6 auto 4x4. I'm gettin ready to pull motor & trans to rebuild both. I was wondering if I can pull both while still bolted together without having to remove the cab??? And what else will needed to be removed.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2001 f150 5.4 4x4 with the 4R70W trans. its leaking fluid from somewhere. its not the pan gasket or the seal. it seems to be coming from the top somewhere. the dipstick tube has new o-rings. and the cooler lines have been replaced and are not leaking either. Where else it could be coming from. the passenger side of the bell housing is wet with fluid.

View 1 RepliesI've got a 1997 f150, 4.6. It sat for year and a half, trans went out and it wasn't my primary vehicle so wasn't to worried about fixing it. Until now, well got a new trans put in it, fired it up. And had a misfire, #3 and #8. Changed plugs and wires, same thing. Getting spark at the plug. So I changed both injectors, still nothing! I'm kind of stumped now.
View 4 Replies2003 Accord with 161K+ miles on it.notice several months back that the oil light would blink about 1 to 5 minutes into driving. I would turn the engine off, sit for 10 or 15 seconds, and start it back up and never see the light again the entire day.
this would happen once a week or so until I would get the oil changed, then I wouldn't see it again for 2000 or 3000 more miles.
Had Honda check it out, they found nothing wrong.
Lately, it happens more often, always first thing when driving, 1 to 5 minutes from starting.
Today I noticed something that makes me think it is a bad sensor; I have to make a U-turn today and I took it quite fast. As I was in mid turn I noticed the oil light KIND of flashing/blinking/trying to come on... like a light does if you hold the switch around the middle, flickered dimly. After I completed the U-turn the light did not stay on.
I got a call from my inlaws saying their truck wouldn't start. Well apparently it had been chugging the day before keep in mind the low fuel light is always on , and they made it home but it stalled and wouldn't start again ran out of gas i imagine he added gas but still nothing , I know with some of these trucks they have a maxi in the tank but would it clog to the point it wont allow fuel to pass ? how do you bring up dash engine fault codes ...
