When I accelerate i get a loud squeal until my truck changes a few gears. Its only when I accelerate and only if my trucks warm and has been running or a few minutes. Cold start it wont happen right away. What it is or could be. Changed my serpentine belt that didn't work...
View 7 RepliesPut in my new S&B intake today and when I stomp on the gas I am getting a loud shuddering noise from the intake when I change gears. Also sounds like a squealing sound sometimes. Doesn't sound like other trucks that I have heard. What that could be?

The whole truck is vibrating when on. When I accelerate I hear a loud noise like something is hitting a fan. I'm scared to even drive it. The rpm's have been jumping around.
What could be causing this? I already replaces Fuel filters.
1997 Ford F150, 6cyl, 138K miles. The truck has a loud squeal when the wheels are turned. This occurs when it's stopped or at low speeds (can't really tell if it's happening at other speeds ?). A friend who's a mechanic, upon hearing the noise, said he thought it was either tie rods or ball joints. I replaced the tie rods (original ones) and the squeal remains. Is there any definitive way to determine if indeed the ball joints are causing this noise ? When I posted before, someone suggested I may have a bad serpentine belt pulley, but the noise seems to be coming from the front end, and not under the hood.

I had my mechanic check it, and my brakes are in fine shape (replaced by the same mechanic less than a year ago), so why is this happening?
View 3 RepliesWhile driving 50MPH one day the car suddenly started making a very noisy, loud sound and would not accelerate when the gas pedal was depressed. I put the car in neutral and pulled off the road. The engine is running great but the gears are now all screwwy. R = neutral, and all other positions "N D 3 2 1" go forward. I put the car into one of the forward gears and it moves, but only about 20 feet before it ceases to move without a LOT of gas, then it is only 1-2 MPH.
View 2 RepliesI have a squeal that I am pretty sure is coming from somewhere in the A/C compressor/pulley assembly. The trucks squeals on start up (more so when it is cold/damp outside) and then sometimes as I am driving. It doesn't matter if the a/c is on or off. I have also noticed that, while driving, the squeal occurs when I take my foot off the gas. At this point I have replaced the belt, the tensioner and the a/c pulley. I am about to change out the shims to see if that works, but also was wondering if it is possible for the clutch hub to wear down and go bad.
View 14 RepliesCar was running fine, on the way home from work I noticed it having a loud squeal while accelerating, down shifting.
The car squealed all the way home fine, no power loss really no smoke no anything, I let the car sit for a little, warmed it up and decided to go to drive it around so I could diagnose the problem better.. While doing so now let me describe the sound.. it's like the sound when you go in reverse and back up, that winding sound.. that's what it sounded like.
Back to the story while driving to diagnose the problem more within 5 minutes it made a loud sound like an axle falling out almost on the passenger side of the engine, once I got out I could hear it more and more and looked under the car it looked wet and it looked like oil running down but also could of been something else I'm not sure.. I took a video [URL] .....
The car made it home safe and sound and parked but I don't know if my engine is done. To note I only saw one drip of oil come down while I was underneath of the car but shown in the video you can see where it looks wet was not there before I drove it.
I have a 2003 Honda Civic coupe (EX) that makes a loud squeal. It starts when I just get going in the car, maybe two or three minutes into the drive. The squeal seems to come from the engine, and lasts for 15 to 30 seconds, before abruptly stopping. I seem to think its a belt, but not sure why its doing it or how to stop it.
View 5 RepliesMy right front passenger tire keeps making a loud squealing noise. I've had the brakes and pads changed several times and it keeps making the same noise. I've taken it to the dealer but when they drive it, of course it doesn't make the noise. They checked it and everything seems fine. I took it to another mechanic and they heard the noise as well but can't find any problems. They greased all the gears in the wheel area and it stopped making the noise for a couple of weeks, but then starts right back up again. The car drives perfectly other than that. I'm going to see if I can attach a video file so you can hear the noise. I'm thinking it could be the bearings but everyone that looks at it says they're fine. The noise in the video is much more pronounced now and is a constant sharp squeal.

I bought this truck literally two days ago. It seemed a little hard to shift, but no other problems. The truck had been sitting a short while, the guy said he took it on local trips, but nothing more. I noticed the oil and coolant levels were crazy low, so maybe it had been sitting longer or the guy was neglectful, I'm not sure...
I was driving it home and it seems like what can be described as: the gear ratio went completely out.
For example, 4th gear acted like 1st gear, 5th gear like somewhere between 1st and 2nd gear, so when I'm at 20mph, in 5th gear, the rpms are really high like im going 20mph in first gear (not 5th).
Today none of the gears engage at all... I dropped off a trailer at uhaul, and I got stuck there! (The truck is still there, I walked 4 miles home)
The shifter works fine, all gears sound like neutral (including reverse) when accelerator is pressed. Car won't move at all, nothing is engaging.
Underneath the car, there is a leak from the transmission assembly, maybe around the fill plug? It's only a small puddle. Maybe fluid, shift forks, bushes? or all?
The trany is less than a year old rebuilt by a local shop.
Starting two days ago when i put the shifer in anything but reverse and 2nd it acts like it is in nurtral. 2nd and reverse are strong and do not slip. do you think its in the linkage? Or is my tranny dead?

I am changing the passenfer side exhaust manifold on my '00 150. The bolts all came out fairly easy, sprayed them often in PB over the last 2 days, my problem is the 2nd and 3rd nuts on the bottom are under the motor mount. Do I need to remove that or is there an easier way that I'm missing.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2002 F150 Supercrew 4.6L 2wd truck. Just added a set of 32" tires to it. Trucks runs and drives great, so thing I don't like is that around town in traffic it shifts into OD to so. Is there a way of changing the OD shift point?
View 4 RepliesThe truck is a 2002 f150 4x4 5.4l... I was driving down the free way last night in 2wd doing about 90kpm when there was a loud bang like a ran over something. Speedo went to zero and abs light came on. Pulled over and shut it down. Crawled underneath to check so damage and couldn't see anything. Stared it back up put it in drive and it just revs. No forward gears or reverse. Fluid level is good, bright pink. Dropped the transmission pan, pan is clean and magnet has next to nothing on it.
View 14 RepliesI have a F150, 2nd 4.6, 122,000 miles. No forward gears. When put in drive, you can feel it trying to engage, but doesn't engage completely. Reverse is a solid engagement. Replaced filter and fluid, same issue.

I drove me truck home about 15 miles and sat idled for 15 minutes while on the phone. The truck started running rough all of a sudden and then died. I tried to restart it and would crank over, but not ignite. I thought fuel pump, grabbed a can of starting fluid and eventually fired up, but was huffing white smoke. After about 3 minutes, it sat there and purred. No problem, right?....
I dropped it in reverse to back into the driveway, when I put it in drive.....nothing, no forward gears now..? It will start up and run now, but still no forward gears. I have a leaky heater core, but rarely have to add water......and no milkshake in the oil.
I tried to change my filter today and I couldn't get the outlet side off after removing the clip, is there a trick to it.
