I got a 2000 f-150. today I started getting a low beeping noise coming from under the dash. it will beep or sound a few times then stop, then start again. What warning this is for? and there is no check engine light either.

Some weeks ago a noise started that sounded like fan blades striking against heavy plastic fan guard. At first I thought it was coming from the transmission/Transfer case area but after a few weeks of listening to I now believe it's coming from behind the dash area, however, I can't find any reason for it be from there.
The noise usually starts around 45 MPH
I checked the heater fan and it appears to be Okay. I don't know of any other fans in that area.
Why the O/D off light on the dash is flashing??? Whats it mean? Its a 2000 ford explorer...4.0 V-6

View 2 RepliesPurchased 2000 F150 (224000 miles) about a year go cheap for knock around truck. Only gets driven about twice week (20 miles most). Has been running great until recently. Got in the other day went about a mile and notice really strong vibration in steering wheel and dash. First thought about something to do with alignment etc. After a little experimentation realized it was the motor. When you get to around 40 mph and try to hold the speed constant it starts shaking (I believe the motor is missing). If you mash the gas and accelerate it stops. As soon as you try to hold constant speed again it starts again. I can run it up to say 45 and let off the gas and the shaking stops. Once it was driven like this for about 5 miles or so, when I come to stop sign it idles rough. If it is put in neutral runs smoother. Could the fuel filter be clogging up? I did try some additive to see if it would clean it out, no luck. Now the check engine soon lite came on. Fuel Filter, Plugs?

View 2 RepliesDad's 2000 F150 5.4 ltr will start intermittently, when it does fire it runs fine, but right after start up all the dash gauges "spike" to the max levels for a sec and then go back down to normal....
Put the Cen-Tec 98614 code reader on and it continues to say "Link error" and I can't communicate to the interface. P.S., I confirmed the Code reader is good by pulling a 420 O2 sensor code from my Toyota in just a few seconds....
I can hear the fuel pump kick in so I doubt that is the culprit. Because of the gauge spike at start up (every time) this problem screams grounding problem, but I don't know where to start. Could it be a faulty relay?
I just bought a 2003 Eddie Bauer Explorer. I keep getting a door ajar message on my dash with a beeping sound when driving. I've opened and shut all the doors to make sure they are properly closed but it does not fix the problem. The interior light will also turn off and on randomly whether the car is on or not. What makes it more annoying is that when I lock the doors the alarm sounds, thus forcing me to leave the car unlocked at all times. I could not find any door buttons against the door frame so can't figure out why it thinks a door is open. How I can fix this or if a code reader will tell me which door is the problem?
View 3 RepliesI have a darn gurgling noise behind the dash! Now I have read different things on this, it has been doing this for awhile, like as in about 4 months or more. Any way I've read head gasket, air in the system and heater core! Now I did have a t-stat problem. But I fixed that, it was about a week ago. But the noise was there before that! It doesn't overheat and the heat works good! Also I see no water in the oil or anything. By the way it is a 97 F150 4.6 extended cab. It runs fine it's just when I step on the gas it does this. It has me baffled right now....
View 12 RepliesI bought a 2003 F-150 Lariat, 4.8L 4x2 about a week ago. Everything worked great at first, now I have this hissing/air coming from the dash. It happens while the truck is on, no matter if parked, driving, etc.. Ac/heater on or off, noise is still there. I have not yet taken the dash apart to see if i can pinpoint this noise. To better explain it is almost as if the air or heat is on and really low.
View 2 RepliesI am working on this 97 F150 with the EOTF. It is not doing anything. When i turn the key on, no light on the dash comes on. When i operated the 4wd switch, nothing happens, no lights on the dash, no relay clicks or transfer case noise, etc. It has a new t case motor, the switch tests out good. I have researched for a while, and either find people with different symptoms or the original poster never updated with what the fix was. I am unsure where to go at this point, i am suspect of the GEM or the t case relay, but don't want to go replacing stuff without a basis for going so. Ive tested for voltage at the switch as well and it has 5 volts at pin 3.
View 13 RepliesThe last couple days my truck (1997 f150 4.6l) has been having starting issues. At first it would just turn over and not start then the battery would die. So i bought a new battery and yesterday now its starts sometimes but when trying to start it while its ttuning over it stops then starts turning and starts up. Then i drive wherever I am going when i get back in to start there's nothing.
Its not turning over at all but when i turn the key there is a loud single knocking noise coming from behind the dash near the passenger floor vent. Actually there ate two noise from the same area, one when i initially trun the key and another when i release the key. But after just sitting there doing this it will finally turn over and start. What this is, there are no codes being thrown besides my dreaded P0401 which i cant seem to get rid of either. Ive changed every part that has to do with the egr system and cleaned the throttle body replaced vacuum lines and still the code.
I am having an oil pressure issue on a 2000 F-150, 4.6L.
I recently put a new set of heads on the motor because of some valve damage. Anyways. The oil pressure gauge in dash would sit at around 3/4.. Drive it a couple miles and every time you would get back to idle (stop sign) it would drop to zero and the light would come on.
You could also hear it make a little noise like the top end wasn't getting oil. (Didn't run at idle long..) I figured it was obviously starved of oil so I put a new oil pump, timing chains/guides/tensioners on. (Which I probably should have done with the heads.) Same issue resulted, but no funny noises when the gauge drops off.
Suspecting that the sensor may be faulty and the dash gauge being useless anyways, I dug an old mechanical gauge out of a box and installed it. I'm getting similar oil results. (Under 25psi it seems.) I'm not sure if the gauge has just gone to crap over the years of being in a box. However, the previous low-oil pressure issue seems to confirm it's not the gauge.
I cleaned the oil pickup when I had the motor apart. It didn't seem dirty, but I sprayed it out regardless. The motor looked fairly fresh when I had it apart. Bearings looked solid, cylinder walls even looked freshly honed. From what I hear, the motor was a low-mileage replacement.
So what could cause a low-oil pressure issue? Bearings seem fine, oil pump is brand new.
2000 Ford f150 4.6 ... I am hearing two things one is a noise from the left side of the car it sounds like air being let out. The second I think I already figured out but its chirping I think its the harmonic balancer because it took so long until it started spinning and made a chirping noise because it sounds lower than the belt tensioner which I already replaced, along with the alternator, and the belt.

About 6 months ago a slight squeaking sound started when only backing up. Now its progressed to a sort of grinding metal on metal sound with regular driving as well as in reverse. I can hear it the most when its in gear and I take my foot off the gas. I changed the breaks, checked the wheel bearings, did a clutch test, and the u joints look fine. Something weird happened yesterday, while raining out, it didn't make a peep. My drive shaft and u joints have a layer of rust on them...could that be a cause of the noise, and it went away when wet?
I have a 2000 F150 with 4.6l triton 125k miles. i have a bad miss ONLY between 1500 and 2000 rpm. This will happen in any gear and in neutral, but only between those rpm's. seems to happen more constant in warm weather. This miss is so bad it feels like the transmission is going to fall out. but since it does it in neutral i doubt tranny problems. things I've replaced: fuel filter, tranny fluid and filter, crankshaft pos. camshaft pos, TPI, MAF, spark plugs, Ignition coils ( all 8) cleaned throttle body ( found 1 EGR port clogged completely )..
I had a couple codes but nothing constant. Been working on this for about 1 year. Codes p0320 (ignition speed input error) p0262 (injector circuit high cylinder #1). my only question here is...... What would only make this dang engine miss between 1500 and 2000 rpm. motor runs perfect thru all other ranges. idle... high speed.. and even throttling through this bad range is ok.. but when stabilizing between 1500 and 2000 starts jerking and missing like no fuel and no fire. i have put in superchip program couple years ago and it ran fine for about 1 year, then this trouble started... I have put back to stock program but still trouble.
Got in my truck this morning and noticed the service engine light, oil light and gas cause were all still on. It also had little dashes in the odometer box. The seatbelt alarm goes off as well. What is going on?
View 10 RepliesI had a small pin fall out from under the dash today in my 2000 F150 today, I was shifting the truck into park when it came out and hit me in the foot. It is turned down on one end and knurled on the other end. Now the shifter feels sloppy front to back and when at rest in park the shifter is almost against the dash, where I should start to look for this? Or do I just start taking it apart until I find a hole with no pin in it? So far it is still shifting and tight as far as what gear its in but goes way too close to the dash.

The alt is old, but tested good four times at Napa. Battery is three years old, and it's holding good charge. My scan gauge 2 is showing 11.4-11.6, and I'm guessing this is what's throwing the code, although there isn't an actual code.
I don't have the money to go just start replacing parts, and I need this truck for next weekend, 10/3/15, so I hope to find something by then.
At 2000rpm the SC2 is still showing 11.6 volts, so would it be the charging system? Volt reg? Something in there is clamping the voltage down. At 18 years old, and 250k miles I'm not afraid to put new parts into.
