I was just wondering is the climate control self contained so it can be directly swapped for manual HVAC controls? I have a XLT and would like to upgrade the HVAC and radio system if possible if they are direct swaps.
View 3 RepliesI have a2011 f-250 in my fleet, manual a/c and just the other day it shut off like a switch, when you start the truck it comes on and the buttons all work but after 6 seconds it goes dead, no lights, no blower nothing, everything else works fine. I have also noticed when you first start when the radio goes from the station to the clock thats when the climate unit shuts off. talked to the dealer they said they never sell and control heads and i doubt its that cause it works on first start.

View 5 RepliesSo I just picked up a 08 STL. I noticed that it doesn't get a lot of airflow out of the vents or floor. I initially thought that it was door actuators. I checked the vacuum at all of them and they all cycled as required.
I also checked the blend door, and the fresh air doors as well. They all cycled as desired. When I was checking my fresh air door with the borescope, I noticed a layer of... insulation maybe? on top of the inlet for the blower. So I removed the blower, and the picture below is looking up into the housing. Is that supposed to be there? It appears extremely dense, so I am led to believe that's what is causing my flow issues.
If it does not belong, how to remove it? Where is the fresh air inlet on this thing?

I have the manual climate controls. Every time I start the car, the recycling air comes on. The problem is, it doesn't get off. I have to turn it off manually. Is this normal? 2015 SE....
View 1 RepliesI just picked up this truck and have found my first undisclosed problem. The A/C only works on MAX. If you turn to any other setting, regardless of selected temp, the air blows hot. And I mean full hot! I was thinking the control panel assembly is bad?
View 6 RepliesI have found a 97 explorer 4x4 with a v6 and auto trans priced really cheap. It has something called control track on it. Everything is in real good shape except the trans. It only works in reverse. Is there a common failure on these trans that might cause this ? from what Ive read this is a awd set up. that's is 4wd -all the time. If the trans is a major repair I would rather do away with the awd and convert to a simpler 2wd. Would such a swap be advisable ? I m wondering about wiring harnesses, sensors, cars computer, etc.
View 1 Replies2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Wondering why the hvac acts like it is in recirculate mode with the A/C button pushed in manual mode. Have window cracked to force smoke and odors out of cabin. On vent mode it pushes air right out, in A/C mode it acts like recirculate is partially on and in recirculate mode it draws outside air in like you would expect recirculate to do. Trying to decide if I have something wrong or the nature of the beast. My GM vehicles do not act like this.

View 10 RepliesWhat is the difference between the 2 wire & 3 wire cam sensors. I am installing a 98 4.0 in my nephews Explorer-engine build date of 12/98. The replacement engine build date of 5/98. There have been quite a few differences during this process and thought I had them worked out but the old engine had a 3 wire cam sensor and the replacement has a 2 wire. I have already changed the harness over due to other differences but my main question is will I have to swap the synchronizer or will the sensors interchange? The synchronizes look different as does the cam sensor.

Once on startup it did not turn on and once while driving it just turned off - as in digital readout is blank and the unit acting as if it has no power. It seems to "fix" itself... View 5 RepliesI decided to replace my interior light bulbs with LED's. I started by swapping out the overhead lights. There is one bulb for the dome light that lights up when the doors are open. That light works fine with the new LED bulb. But the two bulbs for the map lights won't work. When I was installing them my screwdriver touched somethings and made a spark. I figured I blew a fuse but all the fuses under the dash don't appear to be broken.
Why is it that the door ajar dome light works but the two map lights wont turn on? Are they not on the same fuse? Is there a fuse in the fuse box under the hood that I should check? I also noticed that my radio has no power. Fuses looked good. The wiring seems fine. The lights worked before I swapped the LED bulbs in. Tried putting the halogen bulbs back in and they still don't work.
Yesterday, my wife said she tried to turn the fan control knob from 2 to 3, but there was some resistance. She turned it off, and when she tried to turn it back on, nothing happened. The fan control knob turns as it should, but no fan is blowing, and therefore, no AC. Also, we noticed after dark that the lights inside the HVAC control unit had also died. I was thinking fuse, but checked all fuses related to HVAC and dash lighting and they were all OK.

View 11 RepliesMy Gauge Cluster and Climate Control lights are out. Both still function properly. The mileage is light up and the turn singles work, the dummy lights even light up but when the headlights come on, the gauges don't illuminate. Same goes for the climate control; it works and the display is good but the buttons don't light up.
I replaced the headlight switch was I wasn't getting power to the light blue/red wire on the dimmer side. (Dr. Google told me to do this) Both failed at the same time so I'm thinking it is not a bulb issue. What to chase next?
Looking for wiring diagrams for a 97 gran marq. Specifically I want to hotwire, the climate control , to give me heat and defrost for more then 2 minutes an hour. I've got the climate control unit out of the dash, and the relays click just before the heat comes on for a few minutes. Of course that was an invitation to smack things with the screw driver. OOPS If there are no heater fuses hiding, besides the ones over the parking brake, I've now also destroyed the unit. Blocks of wood on the vacumm actuators, and wiring the fan direct will work with my unemployment check just fine. BRrrrrr it cold in the car...
View 2 RepliesCar went in to the dealer to have headlamp replaced. Tonight I noticed that the HVAC Control Illumination wasn't working. Could they have possibly shorted something out? Tomorrow I'll check fuse box.
