View 1 RepliesI have a 96 explorer XLT 4.0 4 wheel drive. The alarm will start honking the horn after the alarm has been activated. It usually takes a few hours then it goes off. I was in extreme temps and was thinking that was it. I am in another state now and it's not that cold here. Could it be a battery in the fob? I have gone to each door and rear hatch to make sure nothing was left open.
View 3 RepliesMy 93 ford explorer has a factory alarm. It went off this morning, 2am! in the rain. I tried the remote, nothing, tried the second remote, nothing. Honking and lights flashing, I disconnected the battery to calm the neighbors and hopefully reset everything. I also disconnected the horn. After reconnecting the battery, and waiting a few minutes, the alarm again triggered.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2003 Ford Explorer that the alarm goes off at any give time. It will even go off in the middle of the night. I have replaced the rear hatch and window sensors. It has been in the Ford shop many times for this and they can't find anything wrong.
View 9 RepliesBeen searching around for a while, how to just disable the alarm on my 97 Explorer- I don't need or want the alarm, period. Every time I accidentally unlock the door with the key, the alarm goes off- and I accidentally hit the panic button in the dark at 5AM the other day, neighbors loved that. Just want the alarm gone, and be able to use the key or fob as I like. Has to be a way?
View 2 RepliesOriginal owner, I'm not sure if this LED light on the dash was put on by the dealer or is it a factory install? I've tried many things and been through this site a bunch and can't seem to find a similar problem....
Currently, no matter how I enter my vehicle, I set off my alarm.
1. Unlock the door with key, no alarm until I lift the latch.
2. Press the first number in my 5 digit code: Alarm.
3. Press unlock or lock on my new fob: Alarm.
After alarm is activated, I can put my key in the On position and press the little button under the dash and the alarm goes off. So I'm getting around to the dismay of my neighbors, but I did recently unhook the horn to keep trying things.
Also important to note I guess is that the alarm sets itself no matter what I do when I exit the vehicle after 2 minute delay.
I hope it's a simple fix, but it doesn't seem to be. I've reset the fob, checked fuses, changed the battery and banged my head to no avail.
Another note is that this began on Super Bowl weekend when I drained my battery with a PA system hooked up to my cigar lighter in the tailgate and needed a jump start. My alarm hadn't previously worked for at least five years, but the LED would blink even while driving.
I would love to just unhook or disarm this alarm, plug my horn back in and end this nightmare. (hearing my alarm in my sleep from so many trial and errors)
I just had a Viper 5704 2 way paging remote start alarm installed on my 2012 Fx4 Ecoboost and when the installer ran the wires from the inside of the cab through the firewall he went through the hole that the rubber grommet was in just to the left of the brake pedal. Instead of going through the grommet/plug, he pulled it out and ran the wires beside it and now the rubber plug will not seal and I can hear turbo/engine noise in the cab. Has alarm installed on a 2010 or newer F150 with this same layout and if so where did the installer run the wires through the firewall? Should I have them pull the wires out and run them through the center of the grommet like they should have done or have them make a slit in the rubber from the edge to the center (radius cut) and make the best seal possible?
View 14 RepliesMy alarm started going off by itself and my truck would not start so we unhooked the horn but the alarm was still trying to go off making a ticking noise when the horn should have been honking. so we also unhooked the alarm. And it started right up. I've been driving it with those things off with no problem. But today it wouldn't start again and its making a ticking noise like the horn is trying to honk.
View 6 RepliesMy 2012 got it's first "500 miles to empty...." DEF alarm yesterday. I added 2.5 gallons and the same alarm keeps showing up each time I start the engine. Is there some kind of other reset required? Do I need to fill the tank up completely to reset it? I'm concerned the engine will shut down after 500 miles even though the DEF tank is about 1/2 full.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2002 F250 7.3l with an aftermarket alarm. I can't read what the third letter is on the decal MV? 2000 Modular Vehicle Security. I added a pic of the alarm decal below. The key fob it had was aftermarket for the alarm and stopped working about a year ago. Today I unlocked the drivers door with the key and the lights started flashing and I can hear a clicking sound. It done this a few times back when the key fob still worked and I just kept hitting lock and unlock until it finally stopped. It won't let me start the truck at all and I have tried unhooking the batteries with no luck.
View 4 RepliesI am looking for a site that i can download a service manual with good wire diagrams. I want to install an alarm with remote start and need to know what wires go to what.
View 2 RepliesThe alarm has been going off during the day for two days now. About four days ago the fuel tank door switch went then the alarm started going off two days later that night the car wouldn't start and only the dash, radio, and locks would work. there was no blinking from the alarm indicator this morning the I heard the alarm going off, and the car would start, also during today when i was in the trunk, the trunk light was going in and out CCM? and/or bad wiring?
View 1 RepliesLately I've noticed my car alarm will start to go on by itself.
Why does it do this ? And what could i do to fix this problem ?
I have recently replaced the battery so i know it cant be a low battery?
My friend is willing to lend me her Cabrio that she had let sit for about a year. I replaced the battery and tried to start it. The alarm went off (we lost the key-remote thingy) and it did not start. The lights all worked but once we tried to turn it over it just went Click-click. The alarm shut off once we disconnected the battery.
View 8 RepliesNew 2015 Mercedes E350 wagon ..... The day after I took delivery, I tried to open the new wagon's doors (it has a keyless feature) and nothing happened. I tried again and still nothing happened. I then took the smartkey out of my pocket and tried to click open the locks and nothing happened. I then took the ancillary key out of the smartkey and unlocked the car manually. This set off the alarm which would only stop when I closed the door and relocked the car.
Also, the car would not start. It was like I had broken in to the car. A few minutes later, while waiting for roadside assistance to speak with me, I tried the door handle again and discovered that the doors would now open keylessly. I have driven the car several times since the incident (which occurred yesterday) and it has not repeated the problem. What caused the problem? Is this a one time glitch or am I in danger of being stranded somewhere?
Alarm keeps going off and is unable to start the car? I've tryed everything I can think of. If I hit lock on my remote the alarm goes off, when i hit unlock it stops, I has gone off by itself numerous times.
View 1 RepliesI could not get my car to start yesterday so I had my friend jump it and we got it started. took my daughter to school this morning no problem car started right up ran fine 2 hours later car wouldn't start again but this time when we tried to jump it the horn was honking from the car alarm. disconnected the terminal took the battery to the shop had it tested battery is good cleaned the terminals with a wire brush hookef it back up and the horn startef honking again disconnected the battery to stop the Horn.here's where it gets really weird #1 my horn hasn't worked in months #2 I have never used the alarm didn't even know it was activated.I inherited the car last year from Grandma who did not like the keyless entry and had it removed she paid big money to Chevy to have it removed so I have no keyless entry to my car and from what I can find online that is the only way to stop this! its a 98 Chevy Prizm I only have 49 thousand original miles car is in beautiful shape have never had a problem until now. it has the original cassette deck no CD, it doesn't even have electric windows, what can I do.
View 9 RepliesI installed a remote start a while back. What I am struggling with is every other time or 3rd time I try to start it the horn goes off like a car alarm. Initially I was having a key issue and would get the immobilizer alert on the dash and It would fire and then shut off. Now if the horn starts going off all I do is hit the lock button and it stops after a couple honks and then starts like nothing happened.
View 2 RepliesI haven't been able to get my 98/b5 started for 2 days now. Heres what I've noticed, key fob not working (changed batteries) put key in ignition and the alarm goes off. I pulled the CCM and it is dry as a bone. Even the carpet is dry. I've read about broken or corroded wires, but I can't seem to find any. Something is causing the alarm to imobilize the car.
View 10 RepliesJust picked up my F250 a few days ago and it's been great up until yesterday when I hopped in to start her up and nothing. It's a brand new battery and all lights worked, but the dash was dead. I attempted in vain for an hour or so to diagnose as to why this was happening and just happened to open the door with the key in the ignition and hit the door lock button....all of a sudden the truck starts beeping and the message on the dash said "to disable alarm start vehicle". I turned the key, the dash lighted up and away I went. What I may have done to cause this or has it happened to you? I'm thinking it's something with the key fob but not sure.
View 6 RepliesSo I had my hood open to check my oil, not a big deal for a 2001 Jetta 1.8t. When I shut the hood, the car decided to simultaneously lock, and now the horn/alarm is going off and the key fob won't unlock the car or disable the alarm. And the keys don't work in the door/trunk so I can't get inside. What I should do?
