I've been getting a strange *whoop*-like sound inside the cabin of my vehicle.....very difficult to explain, and it occurs even when the stereo system is turned off......I hear a series of *whoop-whoop-whoop* sounds, sometimes just a short burst, other times they can last for 5 to 6 seconds. Try explaining that to your service department.....they think you are crazy.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2014 IS350 AWD F-sport and I recently just noticed a weird sound coming from the right side of the car. I can only hear it from inside the cabin, when windows are opened it can't be heard. It sounds like something is lose or rattling, but only happens around 3k+ rpm. Speed does not matter, I've tried revving very slowly in park all the way up to 4k rpm and it can be heard.

Now that it's getting cold I've noticed that when I start the car I get a moderately loud "whirring" sound from the dash for the first few minutes after I start the vehicle. It sounds similar to a cassette tape being rewound or something. It seems to originate from inside the dash, behind the CD player and other controls. This only happens when it's quite cold out (below freezing or thereabout).
View 2 RepliesThe sound is random, inside the cabin, probably comes from in front of the driver. Lasts for a few seconds but goes on repeatedly. I found that when I apply the brakes, even a gently tap, the sound goes away, but will return.

View 2 RepliesI own a 2008 Suzuki XL7, purchased new from the dealership in 2008. Recently, the vehicle sounds a dinging alarm inside the cab of the vehicle & the dash lights up w/ "Service Traction Control" & "Service Stability Control" warnings. These warnings appear sporadically - not at startup - but sporadically while I am driving, and in no specific time pattern. We have had the brakes checked, diagnostics run at a mechanic shop, purchased new tires, and changed the fuses. We have googled Suzuki websites & found that other people are having this problem, but no one seems to have a solution.
View 1 RepliesAlright a few weeks ago I had right wheel bearing replaced...noise still there... Had tires balanced, rotated, checked for capping. The dealer hears the noise but can't tell where its coming from.
The sound is classic wheel bearing Whoop Whoop Whoop and I can control it when I turn to the wheel right and left. This will be the fourth time its in the shop.
Yeah so on the way to the UCLA game last night, after the car warmed up, I started hearing a whoop sound coming from the back I thing. This is the second time I heard it doing this in the month I've owned it. It happened under some acceleration and sounded a bit like the beginning of a police siren. Not every time though.

View 6 RepliesRecently been having a rattle sound from the inside ( passenger front side ) sounds like the door card area? Haven't been able to figure it out. Only happens when I accelerate "strongly". Have had my JoeZ axle back for a nice amount of time. Happens once in a while, not every time.
View 3 RepliesI'm new here to the F-150's forum although I've owned a few since 2001. I bought this F-150 '05 5.4L Lariat. Really nice truck. But when I purchased it, it had this weird noise inside the cabin. I thought because it had a camper on it that some tranny noise was coming up thru the camper and the rear cab. After taking camper off, the noise was still there. From everything I've read online, it could be rear pinion seal, differential bearing, tranny, front hubs, etc. I have left a video. Pay close attention to the little whine. Kinda hard to hear if your not listening for it.
Note- when i drive it is most definitely coming from the middle to rear of the truck. But I'm not ruling out anything. I have looked underneath the truck and the differential is dry and the driveshaft area near diff is dry. No leaks. I have not checked fluid in diff. Is there an easy way for these trucks? I have read and heard about adding an additive? The noise starts at about 10-15 mph all the way up to 80. I've never taken it past 80 but I'm sure it's still there.

I am working on a 2006 (production date 05/06) F150 quad cab 4x4 lariat with the 5.4 3V. I replaced all the plugs last week(and only 3 broke off) replaced the air filter and standard tune-up issues. Now when it starts up it will get a faint scent of fuel inside of the passenger compartment.
I have checked all of the fuel rail connections and the fuel injector seals for any leakage, Checked for any vacuum leaks, Checked for exhaust leaks, Double checked all electrical connectors. Everything that I have checked is as it should be with no sign of leakage or malfunction.
I can't find any source of the smell under the hood or under the truck. Thought maybe a fuel injector o-ring but can find no evidence to support removing the fuel rail. (leakage) Kinda at a loss here. Getting ready to go to lunch and start back afterwards.
I have a 1999 Ford Taurus. I have noticed a faint knocking sound for about 6 months. I took it in and the mechanic said ' what noise? '. Then it got louder so I took ot back in and he ssid 'bad water pump' I had another mechanic friend check, and he said the water pump was fine. Plus, I've never had any overheating . a 3rd mechanic said "could be loose torque converter bolts." It sounds like metal clunking on metal under the hood.. rpms, speed, & temperature make no difference. Occasionally get a smell of coolant inside the cabin . I'll attach audio of the noise.
View 15 RepliesWe have a 2003 Explorer Sportrac and the fuel cap light came on. Then ck engine light came on. took it to a dealer to check it out. Said it has a fuel pressur issue. could be the cap or something in the fuel tank. it needs a pressure check they said. cleared codes and put new factory fuel cap on. 2 weeks later it happened again.
XLT model 108,000 miles on it and we are the original owners...
2013 f250 6.7 yesterday during drive through heavy rain fall noticed some clean water draining on my bare feet on passenger side of the truck right below glove compartment.
View 6 RepliesMy father in-law gave us a 1996 explorer AWD with a 5.0 for my son who is 16. A couple of weeks later he's out learning with my wife and a very strong electrical smell took over the cabin. They came right home and when I got in I found all of the gauges not working. The instrument lights work, blinkers work, but all gauges do nothing. Pulled cluster and wires look O.K. behind it from what I can see. They saw no smoke, just smell, fuses look O.K.. What could cook on this vehicle that would wipe out just the gauges?

2006 Toureg V6 squeak issue:
**sounds like it is coming from the front
**noticiceable from inside the cabin only from approx. 15+ mph
**squeak does not get louder as speed increases
**when brakes are applied and vehicle comes to a stop squeak goes away
**when vehicle begins to move forward again, squeak returns
Brakes have been checked thoroughly and tires are good to go.
I strange "tinny" rattle has started and I cannot seem to find the cause. The location seems to be on the driver side some place in front of the gas panel door and someplace behind the rear door. It seems to be coming from something inside the main body of the car! If I slam the rear door I hear it for a few seconds.
View 19 RepliesIt doesn't happen all of the time and it's not consistent as to when it occurs. Originally, I thought it happened when it was cold outside, but since it's been pretty cold here lately, I have not heard it. Also, it has occurred when the engine was warm (after driving for 20 min or so).
It sounds like it's coming from the engine block, but I'm not 100% sure. I have a 1996 ford explorer 6 cylinder 4.0L engine with approx 249,000 miles.
Should I be concerned or will it drain like normal? I thought it was dripping inside the cabin by the hollow plasticy thud sound it makes, makes me worry it's between the plastic layer and the door card.
View 1 RepliesHear a high pitched whistle inside the cabin while driving above 60 mph? I can even hear it over the radio most of the time, with the windows up! I have found it to be the mirrors! After hearing this noise, and pinpointing when it occurs, we finally found it is the mirrors. When they are folded in at speed, the noise disappears completely. I had it to the dealer, who couldn't pinpoint it, and I was trying to blame it on the tires, but found this instead.
