Ford - Explorer :: 2008 V6 - No Pedal After Bleed

I've got an 2008 explorer v6 2wd. it came in with mushy-no brake pedal. Since it is my bosses boss car my idiot boss diagnosed this with worn brakes. Tore it down and replaced calipers, pads and rotors against my better judgement. pads were worn and the rotors ok, the calipers are fine.

Ok now I cannot get this damn thing to firm up. I've suspected from the start it was the master cyl. Changed that this morning and power bled the system. Still no pedal.

Mitchell on demand gave me the procedure for manual and power bleeding along with bleeding the abs via the scan tool. Followed it to the T and still no pedal. The only thing I can't do is power bleed at the suggested 30-50lbs..the shop one only goes to 15-20lbs.

Explorer :: Fluid Squishing Around Master Cylinder After Brakes Bleed

I have a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport 4.0 SOHC.

I change the rotor, calipers, and pads on the front end.

When I went to bleed the brakes I got some fluid, then I got none.

I can hear fluid squishing around up near the master cylinder, but none coming to the caliper.

I see a bleeder screw on the master cylinder.

Before the car came to me the person had, had low fluid, but had brakes. Now the pedal just goes all the way to the floor with no effort.

There are no leaks or broken lines anywhere.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Bleed Air Out Of Coolant After Thermostat Replacement?

I'm about to replace my IPR and my thermostat, and just watched a video saying after replacing the thermostat you need to bleed the air out of the system to get rid of air pockets so you don't overheat the engine. Is this true and if so how do you do it? Also, how much coolant do I need to drain before taking off the upper radiator hose?

Ford - Explorer :: 2004 - Stiff Gas Pedal?

Not sure if this is adjustable or something needs cleaned,but on my g/f's 2004 4.6 she just bought,the gas pedal seems to be hard to push down,and it's hard to tell when the engine is going to accelerate. Is there a fix for this or something she will just have to get used to?

Ford - Explorer :: 1999 - Brake Pedal Stutter When Pushing Down?

Well my brake pedal is stuttering while pushing down. Have an abs light. Pulled codes. Left front sensor issue. Would this cause my pedal stutter? Removed #10 fuse in cabin and it stopped. So did the speedo. So thinking before I dive into a master cylinder or brake booster....replace sensor? So do I get the 4wd sensor or the 2wd?

Ford - Explorer :: 1997 - Just Crank / No Start Unless Hold The Gas Pedal To Floor

I'm working on a 1997 4.0 ohv and it has a hard start condition on first start up. any after that it will just be a crank no start condition unless you hold the gas pedal to the floor. Replaced the camshaft actuator, plenum gaskets, coolant temp sender and thermostat, fuel pressure is normal.

Ford - Explorer :: Grinding Noises When Depressing Gas Pedal / Placing In Reverse?

2004 Ford Explorer Sports Trac.

Just recently when driving down any road, when I let go of the gas to slow down from any speed, there is a funny grinding noise coming from under the truck, the Speedo drops fast, but the RPM`s stays the same. Then at around 30-40 km/hr, it just stops. When I place it into 4x4, I don`t have the problem. Also, again just recently, when I put the truck into reverse, I get the same grinding noise from under the truck. I have to putt he truck into 4x4, and then I put it in reverse for it to work.

I don`t have the problem going into drive. Both problems don't happen all the time, it will go away for 2-3 days then ill have problems for a few days after. I Took the truck to the shop and they said its the tranny so I replaced with a brand new one thinking that is the problem, but After the Tranny was replaced its still making all the same noises. The grinding noise sounds like "ice in a grinder" or to that effect. I'm not sure whats wrong, and I'm getting frustrated at my truck.

Ford - Explorer :: Loss Of Speed - No Response When Pushed Gas Pedal All The Way To The Floor

So a few days ago the family and I were on a road trip. After driving for close to three hours we ran into a problem. We were doing about 75, which is about 3000 rpms with the 4.6L, When we dropped from 3k to about 400 and started to lose speed. I pushed the gas peddle all the way to the floor and no response at all. I pulled over and it had a very rough and choppy idle and it wanted to die. It eventually did. I checked all fuses with nothing found and i even hit the fuel pump shutoff reset. It started back up no problem and we got about 5 miles before it the exact same thing. Idle at about 400 rpms and no throttle response at all.

I shut it off and called a tow truck. It started up and they drove it onto the back of the tow truck and off at the local mechanic. They spent 2 whole days trying to diagnose it and even drove it for 4 hours straight, no issues. They pressure checked every system they could and tested every sensor they could. They could not find a single thing wrong with it. I drove it home 3 hours away with no issues. I got home and let it sit for about 10 minutes before I had to leave. I didn't make it more than 2 miles before the same issue popped up. I pulled over. Shut it off for 15 minutes and it started right up and drove home.

It threw 4 codes.
1. Pressure control solenoid malfunction
2. Fuel pump Primary circuit malfunction
3. Gear 3 ratio incorrect
4. Gear 4 Ratio incorrect

I've had 2 mechanics tell me its a PCM issue.

Ford - Explorer :: 1998 - Stutters When Idles / Gasoline Smell When Push Gas Pedal

I have a hesitation/stalling issue with my explorer. Started about 2 months ago and can't figure it out. It began with truck feeling like gas wasn't getting to it and it was kicking as if it were getting it, but not at the right times. Asked around was told the throttle body positioner may be going bad as well as fuel filter might be getting clogged. Replaced both and it seemed like it worked as it felt like it was driving ok, but it was all in town driving. Took to interstate and began kicking again. Then, it started to misfire?? or lose power in town and would stall at lights and or turns. Talked to some other people and said it might be my Intake air control valve and or gaskets are leaking from the upper/lower intake.

I got new IAC and got new gaskets and cleaned lower intake and changed oil as well. It ran great for about a day or 2. Got it on HWY and around town and it was great. Now runs absolutely horrible. Feels like it stutters when it idles and when I push gas pedal I get the smell of gas and it wants to die. When pulling off upper lower intake unnoticed that the long screw to upper intake weren't all the way down in the back. I made sure to bolt them down tightly. I was told today to try and reset the computer by detaching the negative battery cable and using a wire to attach that detached cable to the power cable. Then to reattach, turn key to get accessories going for 10 sec, start and idle for te min, turn on lights for about 1 min, followed by radio and then ac. Then test drive for 10min or so. This may have made it worse??

I'm not a mechanic by any means but believe I hooked up everything correctly as it ran great for a day or 2. Also, a bit back I had P0107 bank one lean code pulled up. No engine light has ever come on. Have not had it rescanned since I replaced IAC and gaskets. Just don't know where to turn next. I also cleaned MAF, put in new air filter. 1998 explorer 4.0 SOHC....

Ford - Explorer :: 2009 4x4 - Low Growl Hum Noise And Vibration Felt On Gas Pedal When Accelerating At About 40 MPH

I'm the original owner at 50k miles with Ford ESP warranty. Drive-train still under original warranty. I started noticing a low growl hum noise and vibration felt on gas pedal when accelerating at about 40 MPH. At first I thought it was the road or tires.

Then a few weeks later on a slight hill the growl-low hum was accompanied with a much more noticeable/louder growl/grinding noise in a heartbeat like rhythm. Took it to dealer and they first said it was the transmission. It was replaced.

Then they said the noise was from the rear differential/axle. It was rebuilt, oiled and sealed. Taking it back today for another drive with the mechanic to show them again the problem persist. What it may be? Also, my MPG has dropped significantly from an average of 18 to 13. This is while driving on 4x4 Auto.

Ford Brakes/Suspension :: New Calipers Now Spongy Brakes After Bleed

I'm not too familiar with these trucks, but I've been working on my buddies 1999 e350 ford van.

The other day we were going out kayaking, and the brakes locked up, we were able to drive it home, but it was obvious the brakes were holding the truck back. decided to check it out today, found one front and one rear caliper were sticking, the dual piston calipers only had one working, which I believed to be causing the pads to get pressed together crooked, and caused them to "lock up" or get stuck.

anyways, got the new calipers on and no more sticking, so I bled the brakes started in the front and went all the way to the back, did every caliper. brakes feel firm with the vehicle off, but instantly when the van is started, the pedal goes to the floor. it still stops okay, but the pedal feel is not nearly where it should be.

I got all of the air out of the system, but the abs light is on, and has been for a while. I'm wondering if there is something else that needs to be bled in the abs? someone was telling me about bleeding the abs motor?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Brakes Are Not Firm Despite Being Bleed Multiple Times

I am fixing up a Mrk IV Golf. One of problems I am having is that the brakes are not firm despite being bleed multiple times. The brakes work but the pedal does not inspire confidence, and I know there is braking performance being left on the table. The brakes are to large and the car is to small to brake as slow as it does. Are Golfs a cross bleed system? I have be bleeding them like I would on an old American car, which is what I normally work on.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Gas Pedal Does Not Work

I just recently got a 2004 f150 5.4, and it was running good it just had a random jump in RPMs low high low high, so I went to autozone and the code read it was my IAC but they said it might be my MAF sensor that was dirty so i bought MAF cleaner and cleaned the sensor and the plugs on the tps and also cleaned the throttle body and it worked no more rpm bouncing. But then I had to turn on another project. I had and took the battery out of the f150 after about 30min.

I reinstalled the battery i turned the truck on and turned on fine but i put it in gear and the gas pedal didn't response it would just go to the floor so i thought i might of damaged the gas pedal sensor so I went to my local junk yard and bought another one and same thing the mechanic down the street said i had to reprogram the computer and buy a new throttle body but i keep reading it might be the tps and I might have to calibrate it. Its my first ever Ford....
