All of a sudden, the compass is not displaying accurately. The repair guy at the dealership said to try driving the car in circles to reset it, but that just made me dizzy - didn't correct it.
Any other trick that might work? Or does this trick work if you drive in more circles than about 6 or 8?
I just bought a used 1999 explorer sport 4wd and my overhead console, with temp and digital compass is not working (doesn't come on at all).

View 1 RepliesMy wife has a 2007 Jeep Compass. The stock stereo stopped working one day. It had no power going to it. My wife's father is a mechanic at a car dealership. He's an older gentleman and isn't very savvy when it comes to modern electronics such as stereos. He tried to fix it for her. He ended up telling her the stereo was "burnt out" and she needed a new one. She was bummed out because the stereo didn't work. I bought her a new aftermarket stereo for her birthday and it came with the installation kit and the adapters and connectors. She asked her father if he could install it for her. He tried and couldn't get it to work. One of his coworkers looked at it and said he suspects there is a "bad wire" somewhere, possibly under the gear shifter? He bench-tested the original stereo and it still works! Where do we look for the "bad wire" ? How do we find it? They haven't been able to find it so far. This model does not have steering wheel controls for the stereo.

View 6 RepliesThis has been an ongoing issue for months. I fill up the Compass's gas tank all the way and, at the next stop light or paused traffic, it will stall. My workaround is to fill the gas tank almost all the way full and it doesn't stall. But, what could be causing this issue? I've seen repair suggestions for things such as power control module valve and connector switch for fuel pump, but haven't seen anything definitive.
View 7 RepliesThe single disk cd player in my 07 Camry will not display the cd title information, track number or song title. It simply stopped displaying this information. The cd plays fine. It says "loading", then 'reading disk" and finally simply "CD". I tried several cd's and the title, track or title is not displayed. I checked the owners manual but there is no mention of how to fix this problem. I made an mp3 cd and the cd player reads all the mp3 info but still will not read data on a standard cd. Is there a "reset" somewhere to restore normal operation?

Now its doesn't work ether the 6 or 12 volts .. How to fix it?

View 7 RepliesOur 2007 Chevy Tahoe 4 X 4 recently displayed a "Service Four Wheel Drive" panel light a couple of days ago (upon ignition on a sunny, dry day). The light had been steady which, when we read the owners manual, indicates a problem but no immediate service required. One of the possible solutions was to remove and close the gas cap in case it had been incorrectly closed during the last gas-up. That did not work. Yesterday, during a snow storm, I tried using the 4WD. The dial would move to the different settings, but no 4WD activated and no light illuminated indicating which gear it was in (2WD, Auto, 4H, 4L). We checked the fuse for the 4WD but it is OK.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2007 automatic jeep compass that is stalling. heres the thing, it only stalls when i am idle at a red light/stop sign. I also noticed it only stalls when its in drive. if i switch the car to neutral while stopped/idle it will not stall. i also notice this happens more frequently in the rain.
View 6 RepliesI had to break suddenly last night, and my phone (attached to the AUX cable at the time) bounced up under the wheel, gaining access by the accelerator and break pedals. I can hear it vibrate, but cannot feel the vibrations or touch the phone by reaching up under there - and I am worried I will disconnect the wires if I continue to rummage.
I removed the base of the steering wheel column, but did not find my phone, I guess it is wedged too far into the workings of my car Jeep Compass 2007.
I have two questions. could I remove the plastic facing by the windshield without dismantling the car (I can't tell from the manual)
is it safe to drive with my phone in this position? I'm worried it might disconnect the break fluid or something as I try to drive it to the mechanic.
My Navigation started to display a message "Unable to Read Data" and would not display the Map on my Certified 2008 LS460. All other displays worked just fine and there were no other problems with my Navi. This had been an intermittent problem for a while so I decided to bring it to Pohanka Lexus in Chantilly, Virginia. I paid them $130 to diagnose the problem for them to tell me that I need a new Navigation ECU - which at first they quote $15,000.00 I FLIPPED! I let them know that I would deal with not having a map and navigation and got my car back!
When they gave me my car I started it up to see the wrong time displaying on the clock and a message that reads "A program cannot be read. Please consult to a dealer" displaying on my screen. I immediately got my SA out there to look at the message. He tried to tinker with all the buttons and couldn't get the message to disappear so he brought his supervisor to look at the message.
They explained to me that when diagnosing the problem they tried to reset the system by removing by battery and it didn't work (Yeah, Actually it made things worse!!!) and now it is evident that my ECU has apparently completely died (and I find it such a coincidence that it happen to die while in their hands diagnosing the issue). They took the car back to see if they could do anything to get it back to the state it was in when I brought for diagnosis.
My 2008 LS460L has been periodically displaying the following message in the dash display: "VSC System Error" ...
This message displays on and off about every other day. Yesterday, I hooked an OBD2 scanner up and discovered the following error code history:
P0171 : System Too Lean Bank 1
P0174 : System Too Lean Bank 2
P0022 : "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded Bank 2
P0335 : Crankshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit
P2195 : 02 Sensor Biased/Stuck Lean Bank 1 Sensor 1
Every now and then the engine will run a little rough, but usually at low RPM, and (again) not very often. The car has 166,000 miles of mostly highway driving.
I recently purchased a 2012 Lexus LS 460. I looked everywhere for an answer, but can not find one. On the navigation screen, the compass can point north or in a 'heads up' position. Most people, as you know, like the heads up (moving icon always points north). However, in this 'heads up' mode, the compass does not seem to indicate what direction I am moving. The compass does change when the car changes direction, but it does not correctly show the direction the vehicle is moving. For example, if I am driving true NORTH, the compass will show NORTH. If I then start to turn righ (moving from NORTH to NORTH-EAST), the compass actually starts to move and show NORTH-WEST. So, when the compass is in 'always north' position, the icon on the navigation screen correct shows the direction the car is moving. But, when the compass is in 'heads up' position...how can I tell what directing the car is moving?
View 14 RepliesSo after putting my 2007 explorer in 4 high, it seems to be stuck that way. I can put into 4 low and hear it engage. When I select 4 high or 4 auto, I can hear the 4 low disengage. However, it never goes out of 4 high. The indicator goes off, but i can still feel it is engaged. What to do to turn it off?

I looked through the Manual and looked through the fuse block and they do not specify which number on the fuse block deals with this. Its probably tied in with something else but its not clearly noted in the manual.

View 4 RepliesI have a 2007Explorer it runs great but one thing while I'm driving the light in the inside would come on all by itself. It would go off like 30 secs later. It don't do it all the but it is a bit annoying. Why the light is coming on by itself?
View 5 Replies2007 Explorer Sport Trac was misfiring when first started and then would settle down. Now it is misfiring and when I try to drive it, it does quiet a bit of sputtering and has no power. Took it to mechanic he said it would be hard to tell if it was fuel injectors or what.
