Ford - Explorer :: 2006 - How To Locate 5 Digit Code SJB
Sep 10, 2009
How to locate the 5 digit code on the SJB on a 06 Explorer EB edition. 1st get a flashlight and a mechanics mirror. Then locate the SBJ above the parking/emergency brake. on the bottom of the SJB there is a cover. If you can remove the cover then do it. It is Stamped on the other side. Or put the seat back and flip upside down on the floor and look with your mirror and flashlight, it is the only 5 digit number STAMPED on it.

I have looked at many of the other treads and I can not find the answer. How do I locate the keyless entry code sticker in my 2008 F350? I just bought the truck used, I do not have the card that is delivered with the truck and I don't want to pay the Stealership to hook it up to there computer. I am looking for the RAP or the computer module as it is called in the owner's guide.
It is not behind the glove box, there is no longer a fuse access panel under the dash like the earlier SD's, the drink holder under the upfitter switches does not "pop out." Before I start with any tools, I am looking for input.

My brother just bought a 2006 Ford Explorer XLT 4x2 4.0 V6. Where to find the code for the keyless entry? I took a look under the dash "driver side" but didn't see anything....

I just picked up a 06 XLT 4.0L with 125K that was a bank repo. After 15 minutes of driving the CEL light came on and the code read at local parts counter was 0402 which they said was the EGR system/valve. Is this a common thing? What are solutions (cleaning or replace)?

I am looking for an answer to changing my 2007 Sonata fuel tank air filter that is mentioned in my 30,000 mile maintenance schedule. Is this an easy change or does my car have to be taken to the dealer for this?

I have a P0401 code that just fired today. I tried to clear the code, but it came right back on the drive home. There are no drivability symptoms so far; just the CEL.
It looks like the DPFE sensor is part of the EGR valve on this model. Do the 401 code usually means that the EGR needs to be changed, or if there are other common causes of this code that I need to check? The DPFE sensor fixed the same issue on my Escape, but that was an easy $34 and 30 seconds repair. Looking for some 2004+ year owners' experience (I guess 2002 and 2003 models had the DPFE?).

A few days days ago I noticed a check engine light and pulled an 1151 code. The truck runs great, like it always does. It's a '99 Eddie Bauer 5.0 with 275K. I turned the code off and a day later it came on again with no difference in the running.

My Explorer CEL just came on today, when checked it only brought up a code P0171. I have read through a bunch of the post and it seems most people get two codes where as I only get one. Also most say their vehicles run rough, mine runs great, so I am at a loss as to what to check or replace first. There does seem to be a slight ping when under load.

I have a 2008 Sports Trac, with a 4.0 SOHC engine ... 165k miles. Last week my check engine (CE) light came on and the code is P0401 ... too little flow on the EGR system. I first tried cleaning the existing valve - but CE light still came on. So I replaced the old EGR valve, cleaned the SS tube from the exhaust manifold back to the EGR valve and the CE light is still on. I have not driven the truck since I replaced with the new valve ... only fired her up in the garage. Is this something that could possibly clear up given a couple of miles?

2007 Ford explorer 4x4 V8, U0101 Failure to communicate with the TCM
Vehicle shifts very hard when under load then and when the Traction control light and the "wrench" light come on it seems to be stuck in high gear, if I stop it takes off like in high gear and never shifts, when I do an ignition cycle then the lights go off and it takes off in first gear and shifts as normal unless it's under load it will bang in and out of gear. Where is the TCM located? On a side note I do hear air like vacuum behind the center console when I press the pedal. Not sure if it has always done this or not.

I recently acquired my dad's old truck. Its a 2002 Explorer EB 4.6L 4x4. Great truck, family owned since new. Recently it has had the service engine soon like pop up and its throwing code P0340. The mysterious cam sensor code.
May I ad that the sensor itself is new, OEM ford. I have just replaced the alternator (which is usually a common problem for this code), and still no luck. The car starts up, still runs great, and has had no hesitation or stalling.
My mechanic friend checked it out and said that it is getting some voltage, but not as much as it should? the wiring to the PCM looked good too. The Ohms on the CMP checked out good too.
I really hope its not the PCM on this car. I may have to just take it into the ford dealer to see if they can diagnose the car. I do work as a tech at a small indy shop, but currently dont have the time since i'm trying to finish my schooling this year.
I just want my car to be in tip-top shape...

I got gas last week and then my SES light came on. I took it to my local auto parts store and used the code reader. The code that it produced was P0456. The guys at the store wasn't useful because he said it could be as simple as my gas cap needs replacing or a much bigger problem. Should I take it to the dealer or is it something I can fix myself?

I have a 2003 Explorer with the Factory Keyless Entry on the driver's door. It recently quit working with either my code or the factory code. I have cleared my code, and the only response is that the keypad will light up, and I can lock all doors with the pad. It refuses to take a code to unlock. Other than the dealer route (and a possible new GEM)? The wireless remotes continue to work well.
