I am getting a vibration when I lift off of the throttle and again when I press the throttle. What causes this. Also what is the normal operation of the 4x4 system is this a true all wheel drive system with a 2 speed t-case or is this the normal old control trac that I had in my 98 4.0.
View 4 RepliesI have a 93 F250 diesel 4X4 with the automatic, the transmission was rebuilt by a reputable shop les than 10000. miles ago, every few months it will act up, it will act like I put it in neutral then it slams back in gear, then it shifts very hard, sometimes it will not shift until i lift the throttle. Sometimes I can shut it off and when i start it again it will be back to normal, other times it will do this for a few days, then work fine for another month or two.
View 5 RepliesI just did a stage 1 remap on a 2010 golf r, everything is works like a charm. However, when I lift-off the throttle the car jerks hard. This only occurs on the first start and cures itself after a drive. I could simply replicate the problem by shutting down the engine and turning it back on. it doesn't have to be cold. it seems to be the ecu forgot everything it learn after i switch off the engine. Happens in all gears including reverse. noticed that during reverse, the car seem to go fast with light throttle , and back to normal once the problem is cured after a drive. Had no issues before the tune.

Okay, first issue, car accelerates smoothly, and holds interstate speed just fine. BUT, when you lift off the throttle at speed, you get a shimmy-shake out of the front suspension like the tires are suddenly out of balance. Back on the skinny pedal, smooths back out. Never touching the brakes during this whole cycle.
Second issue is what I found tucked into the rear storage compartment with the first aid symbol. No first aid kit (should there be one?) but two extra quarts of oil. 10W-30, uh, dino oil. Not synthetic. I got no maintenance records other than a copy of the repair invoice for the head work, so I'm not sure what oil was used in regular oil changes, but at least the "top-off" quarts are not the right stuff. Should I be overly concerned? Should I immediately do an oil change to Mobil 1 like I was planning? What about some kind of engine flush?
I recently purchased an 04 Mountaineer with 95k miles on it, there's a slight shudder or vibration when i start out from a stop, turning, reversing all at a slow speed of under 10 mph, there is no other issues after i get up to cruising speed above 10mph.
I had the front and rear differential fluids changed, the transfer case fluid changed, and transmission fluid changed.
I have a high speed vibration from 58+ ... 4x4 drivers rear cvjoint bad? The U joints are good, I had the Diff rebuilt due to bad bearing about 1000 miles ago. I guessing its the Cv joint do to grease is all over around the joint. How does one check the cv joint?

I drive a '99 Chevy Tracker with the 2Liter engine, a 5 speed manual transmission and 110K mi. on it. When I lift my foot from the throttle pedal in preparing to shift gears the engine takes a very long time to reduce it's RPM. This is a problem, when up shifting, as the transmission is spinning too fast for smooth gear engagement.
The engine idles normally under all other circumstances. It is only slow to decelerate whenever I lift my foot from the throttle pedal. This makes up shifting very slow and/or causes the gears to sometimes grind slightly.
I have a 1994 Black Ford F150 and i was wondering if i could lift the truck 6 inches only using lift blocks (or any other cheap way to get my truck off the ground)....

View 1 RepliesI have a 2004 fx4 supercrew 4x4 , 170k miles. I bought it a few months ago and installed a 6" rough country lift and 35" tires. I noticed a little shake in the steering wheel but not too bad, just annoying. I just put on a fabtech dual steering stabilizer to remedy the problem and its much worse. What could be at fault that dual stabilizer would make it worse? I hate to just take them off, I would rather find the problem. Oh, the tires are all balanced and I had an alignment done also.

For the front and the back? I have a 2006 F150 4.6 V8 RWD I also haven't been able to find any good places to but the kits (also because I don't know what all i may need) It would be ideal to get a kit i can bolt on myself.

I have a 1999 f-250 super duty 7.3 .... Recently my truck has started making a humming noise when push the throttle and I can feel a slight vibration, the noise and vibration go away when I let off the throttle, I have changed all five u joints, both wheel bearings in the front, the steady bearing, changed tranny and both diff oils, put new brakes and calipers all around and pulled apart the hubs but I can't seem to find what's causing it. What it could be or what I could check? It has an 8 inch lift and is sitting on 37's and some performance upgrades, could any of that cause this ?
View 9 RepliesI bought a 2004 F250 super duty 4x4 with the 6.0 a couple weeks ago and have a few questions. Hopefully all of these things are normal, but I thought I would ask you experienced drivers.
1) Occasionally while driving when I lift off the accelerator pedal I can hear a sort of loud rattle under the hood. I assume this is the turbo shutting down? Is that normal?
2) 4x4 and locking hubs... I have the 4x4 hi and low switch on the dash. Do I need to also manually lock the hubs to go into 4x4? After reading the manual it seems like I can just turn the dash switch and they should automatically lock, but I'm not sure. The hubs are not marked, but going by the pictures in the manual I think I know which is "lock" and which position is "auto" or off.
3) Front wheels hop at full turn. I expected wheel hop in 4x4 or with the hubs locked, but even in 2WD with the hubs in the auto position the tires still "hop" or knock a bit at sharp turns. Is this normal?
81,000 miles on it and starting last week I began to get a vibration at highway speeds. The vibration is both in the seats and the steering wheel, though it feels more so from the front end. HOWEVER, I already have had: both front lower ball joints replaced, the front axle replaced, the tires rotated AND aligned AND balanced, and a missing sway bar link replaced. Why it still vibrates. My mechanics (yes I tries 2 places) can't get it right.
View 4 RepliesI just bought a 2010 Explorer XLT on Saturday with 7,200 miles on it. Everything is great on it, but we noticed a vibration at about 60 -70 mph. Im thinking/hoping tires might need balancing. It does semm to subside a little when slight turn to the left and increase when sight turning to the right (like lane changes). Were/are there problems with the auto 4wd and the sensors? This is still under warrenty until 4/13, but tire balancing is not covered under warrenty. I'm taking it back to the dealer today under the 30 day warrenty that they offer, but they seemed really cool as far as if you just bought it and it vibrates, we will fix it. They say and have so far want us to be totally satisfied. I hate dealing with car dealers worse than going to the dentist, but this was a relatively pleasant experience. Let me know what you all think. I told the wife we were getting a brand new 2010 Explorer and she said that didn't make sense. I said with 7,000 mile on it it was like a brand new car. We need to get rid of the vibration now.
