View 2 RepliesI recently purchased a 2003 Explorer. Two weeks after I bought it I found out the motor on the windshield washer water pump was shot. The dealership fixed it for free. About a week after I got it back when I was driving in the morning to work I noticed the check gauge light go on and saw that my temp gauge was pointed at HOT!! I pulled over and stopped immediately. As soon as I slowed down the temp gauge went back down to normal. It happened 2 or 3 more times and had it back at the dealership. They are stumped. They sent it to a Ford dealership and they couldn't find anything either.
They said they have checked everything and it is not overheating. They even put a thermometer on it while they drove it and it didn't get over 205* I am surprised it didn't do it to them because it happens almost every morning. I only work 4.3 miles from my house so its not like I am driving very far. It usually happens at about 3 miles. As soon as I see it going up (and I watch it a lot!!) I take my foot off the gas and start to slow down or barely press the brake it goes right back to normal. Then it stays at normal the rest of the day. Is it the sensor or the wiring or did the do something to it when the fixed the washer motor?
I have a '96 explorer, v-8 5.0 ....
My windshield washer fluid has stopped coming out of the cleaning nozzles on the rear, driver's and passenger sides. I can hear the pump pumping and have disconnected the hose from the driver's side and ran the windshield cleaner system. Cleaning fluid came out of the hose easily. Then the hose for the rear was tested. Fluid came out of the hose.
The reservoir was emptied and checked to see if there was dirt that might be clogging the intake. It was clean. The nozzles where the cleaning fluid comes out were cleaned with a small wire from both ends. Also a bottle of compressed air was used and air was felt coming through easily. I am thinking the pump might have lost enough pressure that no fluid can be pushed hard enough to come through the very end before it gets sprayed on the windshield. What might be wrong?
I have a 2005 F-250 6.0 Powerstroke.
My washer fluid pump is not working, it was a few weeks ago but now it is broken. The Owner's Manual only has the listing fuse 33 for "cluster, 4x4, wipers". It looks like some of the older models have an actual fuse for the "washer fluid pump". I checked fuse 33 under the dash and it is ok. What fuse controls the washer fluid pump?
The pump does not make noise when activated, so I'm starting at the fuse but I don't know what the hell is going on.
I am posting this here as it is in reference to the 5.4 motor but in a 2001 Expedition.
My wife was driving our 2001 Expo the other day and the warning light came on that the windshield washer fluid was low. When she got home I popped the top the re fill the washer fluid and there was what appeared to be green coolant in the reservoir. It even smelled like coolant.
It filled the reservoir about half way which made me wonder why even though it was coolant it made the washer fluid light come on. I then checked the coolant reservoir and it had fluid in it but it looked brown and nasty. The motor is the 5.4. What is going on?
I would like to monitor the windshield washer fluid level on our '03 Ford Taurus. Unfortunately, the fill nozzle goes underneath a piece of the chassis and I can't tell where it goes or where the reservoir is located. The manual was of no use whatsoever. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I'm stumped.
View 9 RepliesI just bought a 1998 ford f150. Wipers do not work, the wipers only work when i hit windshield washer, but no washer fluid comes out, what could it be?

If I push button for windshield washer the wipers come on but no fluid sprays on windshield. Same with rear....wiper comes on but no spray.
Jumped washer pump directly from battery and pump comes on and water squirted on windshield.
Had kids push washer button while I held volt meter on washer pump power and ground wires.....Nothing 0.0 volts at pump, but wipers came on.
All fuses are new, is there a relay? I did swap them around with no change.
It seems that whenever it drops below 20 degrees, my windshield washer fluid lines freeze up on my '03, even though the blue stuff is proported to go down to minus 20 (the jug in my garage is still nice and liquid, even at these colder temps).
Is this a fixable problem? Should I switch over to a different type of juice? I don't remember this happening as frequently in previous years as it has this year.
getting weak spray/dribble (yea, it could be a "personal problem " on the drivers side squirter. Left side great. I have replaced both squirters and blew out the line where it T's over to the drivers side.
Still weak.. I'm thinking its most likely low pressure coming off the pump and maybe it's time to replace I haven't crawled under there to inspect placement of pump. Thought while there I would also replace the reservoir.
I am a new owner of a 2006 F 250 6.0.
I need to install a new washer fluid pump. My question is what is the best way to get the old one off and the new one on? Should I go from under the wheel well? Or is there another easier way to get to it? The truck didn't come with an owners Manuel and I cant find anything about how to do this.
I have a windshield washer fluid leak. It's leaking onto the passenger side floor under the dash. Any have a good place to start looking or how to access the area it might be leaking at?
View 6 RepliesWhile I was at the shop getting the steering fixed I asked about the inop washer pump. They told me the pump failed.
Anyway 30 minutes later I have replaced it but still does not work.
So what next?
Which fuses do I check (I already checked them but give me specific numbers)
Where are the relay and how do I check them?
How do I test the pump?
On my 2000 OHV Explorer the windshield washer just dribbles. I purchased a new pump and still dribbles.
I took the nozzles and pump from my 2000 SOHC Explorer that worked great and put them on the OHV one and still dribble.
I even cleaned out the lines first. How to get these to function properly?
2003 Passat B5.5.
Every time I refill the bottle, the next morning I always find the fluid under driver's side bumper on my driveway.
Recently the low windshield washer warning light came up on my dash. I rarely use it so found it weird. As I thought it was pretty full already. The warning only show up when its around 4 degree Celsius and doesn't show up when its around 10 degree.
View 5 RepliesRecently the dash display indicated that I needed to add washer fluid. I was surprised that it would be low since I rarely use it and had not done so lately.
Yesterday I added water to the bottle and heard a trickling noise as I was doing so. To my surprise the water was leaking out below the car! The bottle remains empty.
I recently purchased a 2009 Camry XLE with 14,000 miles on it. So far so good other than the windshield/dash noise rattle when it is cold which I have searched on found a fix. However the other challenge I am having is the windshield washer fluid is leaking. It is a toyota certified car (warranty for 12 mos/ 12,000 miles) so I figured the 160 point inspection was completed expecting they would have topped off all fluids. I filled the washer fluid to where I could see it in the neck of the container. I walked back into my garage to put away the washer fluid, while walking back towards the car I could see something was leaking from under the car. It was leaking from a hole of the plastic directly under the car that covers everything up so you are unable to look up into the engine compartment. What may be causing this leak? I would suspect about 10 to 14 oz leaked.
View 6 RepliesReplacing the windshield washer fluid reservoir? Mine is leaking badly. I think I need to take off the front driver side wheel but I am not sure.
View 2 RepliesI have a leaking washer fluid reservoir. Spews out under the car when I try to fill it up and then get the low washer fluid warning. Have always used washer fluid -20F formula.
View 6 RepliesWhenever I use my windshield wiper fluid it smells like Elmers glue, its weird, I never had anything like that before in any other car. It still cleans just fine I am just curious.
