I've got a 2003 Ford Explorer The transmission O/D light is flashing, and the check engine light came on. I'm getting and Code of P0775 Pres. Ctrl Solenoid B Circuit Malfunction. Also it shifts rough between gears, the rpms ramp up to much before it shifts. What the problem is, and how to fix it?
View 13 RepliesFrom the other users it seems that almost all are having slipping of gears and rough shifting associated with this code. On mine I'm not getting any slipping or rough shifting...it actually still seems to be driving just fine. The OD light came on and will go away after shutting the truck off and back on...it will then not flash anymore for say a couple of months or so...this has been happening for the past few years every now and again and i never thought much of it. I just made a 2k mile trip and this happened again but this time it threw the p0775 code which is a first.. Is it possibly a very early sign of the sensors going bad.

Diagnostic Flash Code Information
NOTE: The following flash codes 1 through 16 are
On-Board Diagnostic
(OBD) codes generated by the control module. If a system fault is detected, the control module will "flash out" the corresponding fault code on the electronic four-wheel drive Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument panel. Also, notice that all the codes that can be generated pertain only to the speed sensors, the clutch coil and clutch with the exception of the first flash code.
The electronic four-wheel drive system also includes the brake switch input, Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch input, one power and two ground lines, along with the E-4WD MIL. The following pinpoint tests include testing on every electronic four-wheel drive circuit and not just those covered by the flash codes.

Regeneration (Recovery) of Flash Codes
If the ignition is turned OFF and the code is lost, the ignition will have to be turned ON again to regenerate codes 1 through 8, if the condition or conditions still exist. To regenerate codes 9 through 16, the vehicle must be driven again.
How accurate is this information? also where can i find a replacement clutch connector? New to fords so I am not sure where to get parts.
It is a 1997 Ford f150 5.4 4x4 extended cab 175k miles. Took a 600 mile trip, first 300 no problems, then the "od" light began flashing, the truck shifted fine so I kept going, drove for about a 100 miles then stopped for fuel and read the code, (p1728) cleared the code and drove another 200 miles, no light no problem. The whole time there was no drivability issues. Yesterday I drove all over town, stop and go traffic, locking the TC and it would also unlock, no problems all day, drivability was fine. What to do?
1. Just keep driving it?
2. Does changing fluid fix this problem?
3. Rebuild the trans, because this was just the first notice.
4. Sell it quick no light and drives fine.?
To start I was driving to work tonight and noticed the o/d "off" light flashing. it shifted hard one time then felt normal the rest of the way to work. At red lights the o/d light world turn off and about 3 minutes later it would flash again. When I got to work, I checked my code reader which gave me the p0705. I have searched around the net for about an hour and one thing i am seeing is that the fluid is "hot" or that there isn't enough. i have checked it and it looks slightly low like right above the add indication.
The only sound I here from under the truck is a rattle when in drive and at idle, but once I give it some gas it goes away. On they way home that night the o/d light was still flashing but it drove fine just at higher rpm, it down shifted hard one time but there were no other issues. I checked the fuses and they are all good.
I am trying to make sense of a P0741 code accompanied by a flashing OD light.
The truck is a 2002 (12/01) build date) F250, 7.3,4x4, Auto, with 245,000 miles on it. The truck seems to shift fine but around 40/45 it feels like the TC does not lock, followed by the flashing OD light.
The transmission was serviced 500 miles ago but the OD light flash was intermittent until last week, now its been constant. I want to take care of it before I do any damage.
I have a persistent issue with the OD off light flashing on my 2001 7.3L auto 4x4. Scanning it with AE I get the P1832 code. The truck runs and drives just fine. It shifts nice, goes into overdrive, locks up, etc. If it weren't for that blinking light I'd think it was all perfect. I've checked all the connections, replaced the range switch / neutral safety switch, replaced the VSS on the rear axle, checked all light bulbs and fuses. I've checked MOST of the relays in the truck.
I pulled the tranny drain plug and poured out a bit of fluid into a clean pan, it looks and smells good. AE also tells me that it's not communicating with the ABS system (although there's no persistent ABS warning light on the dash), the Airbag, the Overhead Trip Computer, the Parking Aid (which I don't have...), or the Enhanced Powertrain. The temperature on my overhead display is reading -40F which is clearly wrong.
I've looked for a comprehensive wiring diagram for the truck, but can't find one. I'm trying to figure out if there's a connector or module that these various functions go thru that might be the problem. Am I missing a ground somewhere? The frame was just powdercoated......am I not getting a good ground connection? In complete disclosure, I have torn this truck apart and re-assembled it out of several different trucks as outlined in this thread.

I have a 97 f150 (built 96 as 97 model), 4.2l 4x4, auto tranny. Here's the problem, when I turn my key forward to run position my starter kicks on and starts the truck, and stays engaged. I have a constant 14v at the signal wire on the starter relay (yellow red stripe). Also tranny started to slip, od light flashing. I replaced ignition lock cylinder, ignition/ starter switch, starter relay, starter, and today transmission range sensor (neutral safety switch 8 pin), same problem. Cel code that I had 2 days ago was P0707 tr sensor low input.
View 8 RepliesWell, I've been getting a flashing OD light, so doing some research, led me to replace the shift solenoid. I did just that and have yet again the same P0741 code... The truck seems to shift normal but will randomly throw the code and then will not go into Overdrive as well as shift very hard into all gear. Where to look next?
View 1 RepliesI bought this truck with a stock automatic transmission and 260k miles back in October expecting the transmission to be the first thing to go. Recently I had a transmission code, OD OFF light flashing, for the bad speed sensor which i got replaced. Then the OD OFF light started flashing after some hard driving when I would put into neutral or park so I took it back to the mechanic, Hanahan Truck and Auto in Sc. They looked into it and there wasn't any different code in the system but they noticed when you lay into it driving it slips some between 2nd and 3rd gears so that could cause the computer to put in a code.
They said usually a rebuild runs from $2k-2.5k and they also recommended a Jasper reman for roughly $2.8k which comes with a 100k mile 3yr warranty. So I figure replacing the transmission is probably the way to go. Any recommendations for a replacement. I've heard ATS and Sun Coast are decent options that I could build one. I'm looking to stay close to $3k. My truck is a 2000 F250 lariat 4x4 with 268k miles. I'm installing an S&B intake, 4" MBRP exhaust, and DP-Tuner's F6 chip when I get the transmission work done.
I have a 2003 ford Explorer xlt v8 4.6 with a P2197 code.(02 sensor bank2 sensor1)...
I had code P2195 a few months ago and replaced that 02 sensor but just recently truck threw code P2197 and is now starting to idle surge when I stop at a light or just leave it running in park.
Replaced PCV valve and the hose that goes from pcv valve to IAC also replaced Fuel Filter. Cleaned IAC, Throttle Body and MAF did the old check for vacuum leaks with can of carb cleaner nothing found.
Pulled all coil packs off checked OHMs all read .6,coil boots looked to be in good shape going to replace spark plugs and 02 sensor.
Have a 2003 F350 srw 4x4, 107,000 miles on it. Driving it last night tow/haul light started flashing, hooked up AE got a P0730 Incorrect gear ratio. Truck seem to do ok, cut it off went back out a little while later and the tow/haul didn't flash.... Only issues I've had is when shifting from P to R, it takes a second or two longer than it should and shifts hard when it does but it doesn't do it every time.
View 1 RepliesI had been having battery issues with my 97 ford f150 4.6 liter for the longest time, thought i had a short under dash, i pulled entire dash out, disconnecting bat first of course, and inspected all wiring harness connections and fixing my issues and putting it all back together. now with new bat and all put back together i am now getting the airbag light flashing 5 times then 2 times (error code 52) i know it has some thing to do with power failure or backup battery, but now with the new battery in i cant seem to get it to reset. How to do this?
View 3 RepliesJust recently purchased a 2004 Eddie Bauer Explorer w/ 110k. Took a Snap On scanner with me to look at it. ABS light was on and I also get a 4x4 high flashing light every 2-3 minutes. Blinks 8 times then goes away. Scanner showed the RF speed sensor isn't sending any mph signal back. Just reads 0. Will my problem be a new sensor or is the sensor getting a dirty signal trying to read dirty teeth on the hub? Also, will fixing this stop out with the blinking 4x4 light?

Recently my check engine light came on. I understand this isnt such a big deal, but then my engine started "skipping", and my overdrive light is now flashing. my car will stall if i come to a complete stop without putting it into park or nuetral. I dont know what to do.

Rebuilt the engine once due to leaking head gasket.
Rebuilt it again 2 months ago due to leaking rear main seal.
Had a new torque converter installed during last engine rebuild, so tranny has been shifting and driving like a dream.
Just drover about 30 miles on highway, all pretty flat. OD light started flashing. I didn't notice ANY change in the way it was driving, sounding, shifting... anything! I know this is some sort of oddball error with this transmission in this vehicle, but i need to know if it requires further investigation.
Also, sometimes upon starting up (i am a pizza deliver, so i often shut it off and start it again 1 minute later) the OD and (i think) the 4x4 light flash at the same time, and my windows wont work for around 15 seconds. I've also noticed that my ABS will sometimes kick in randomly on dry ground during slow stops.
I am not in the mood to just start dropping cash on random sensors or modules or repairs if i can find any solid evidence of an issue (i've been battling an EGR issue for 4 years). I was thinking maybe the vehicle speed sensor?
The OD OFF light starts flashing by itself and I can't get it to go out. Everytime it does this, the car is sluggish, won't pull very good at stop signs and kicks hard when down shifts. Thought it was weather related but it doesn't matter what the temp. is. Eventually it will go out by itself and everything is fine.

I thought to myself, "Another problem I have to bash at with a wrench to get going again." I figured that meant I'd be stuck with gear 1 and would burn some extra gas on the ride home, but after parking and running an errand, woe behold me but my car won't start! The starter turns, but no other noises come out of my now very-large paperweight. I've tried shifting into neutral, moving the car to get the gearbox turning, starting the car in neutral and park, yet the stubborn car remains dead. Am I drawing a connection between the light and the failure to start where one need not exist?
