I have a 02 explorer 4.0 4x4 i recently bought and the radio doesn't work the power comes on and picks up stations and the cd player seems to work but no sound at all previous owner says it happened after alternator was changed.
View 3 RepliesI have a Sport trac and its killing me. The windows, radio, wipers and 4x4 does not work. I have checked all of the fuses and even replaced the GEM module and they are still not working.
View 3 RepliesMy radio worked fine. No issues. Next day got in car and radio was dead. No lights, no sound. I bought a new radio XO Vision brand.
I bought a Schoshe wiring kit and wired it up according the instructions. I have power. There are lights and everything but no sound. No static. Nothing.
There are posts about the amp...not sure if i have one. Mine is the 97 explorer that had the 6cd changer in the console.
There is a blue wire left over and the orange one. (Orange is for illumination so I assume I don't need this.)
I haven't been on for a while but new issue my AC won't work the compressor is not seized it just wont come on checked all the fuses and tried to check the wiring but it is so short then it go's into the main wiring harness is there a way to see if it is the compressor or not some way to test it? It is on my 2002 explorer 4.0l vin "E" eddie bower.....
View 13 RepliesHow to get into that bundle of wires going between the drivers door and body for a 2002 Sport Trac? I have a break in the wire that feeds 12v to the passenger windows. If I push the bundle backward the windows work. The flexible rubber jacket goes into a plastic housing and I'm not sure if I need to pull off the door panel and un-hook or unscrew it. Is there a connector inside that plastic thing?
View 2 RepliesMy 2002 F250 Crew/Diesel/4X4/lariat has ever since I bought it, had an electronic problem.. sometimes I start it, the heat coil light stays on, sometimes the radio won't work, the windows won't work.. then about 2 minutes later, they work, my back up alarm always comes on turned off... sometimes my fuel gauge registers weird, ....
View 1 RepliesI just purchase a 2002 SC430 with only two (minor) issues. First: the radio display does not work. Everything else is fine. The CD changer works, the radio works, the steering column controls work. The display is blank. Lexus solution is 650$ for a new radio. Seems like there should be a simpler fix.
Second, the panel covering the display does not come down. I can pull it down, and it will go back up with the push of the button. But it will not go back down. Again Lexus fix is 700$. I guess I can keep pulling it down for that price, but how was it resolved.

Noticed today while at a stop light that when I depress the brake pedal (after being stopped) it makes a squishy sound - the pedal feels different, but I don't know if spongy/squishy is the right way to describe it, it just sounds like you stepped on a waterlogged sponge.
Now the brakes definitely don't feel as good as my XLT brakes (recently replaced it due to rod knock - 02 XLT v6). It still stops but seems like it requires more effort and almost fades a little. I initially chalked up the difference in performance to me putting new rotors/pads on the XLT - Thermo-quiet semi's with Raybestos rotors.
However it appears after some brief reading this could be the master cylinder on its way out....is that accurate? I planned on taking my pads/rotors off the XLT before I ship it to the junkyard (less than 3k on that setup), but if its the master cylinder, I'd like to do that while I'm doing all my other tune up stuff this weekend
I'm gonna put it on the lift this weekend and see if there's any brake fluid stains to see if air is getting into the system, but looking at the reservoir over the past week I haven't noticed really any decline in fluid level.
A few weeks ago, I went out to my car & the remote opener would not work. So I opened the door with the key. I went to start the car & it would not start. I got absolutely nothing. I also then could not get the key back out of the ignition. It would not even turn back to the original position. My father get the car started with a jump, but since then my car radio does not work. I also do not hear any noise when using the turn signals. They work, but no "blinking" sound. I tried to research this thinking maybe you have to "reset" the radio after a power "outage" but have been unable to find anything on how to do this. My husband recently passed away and I'm feeling a little lost when it comes to issues with my car. Where I can find some info?
View 4 RepliesI have a 2002 Explorer with 147K that makes a chirping sound when I start it and the engine is cold. So far I have replaced the serpentine tension-er and the water pump. After about 10 minutes of running the noise stops. With the belt off the idler pulley spins freely. It does have the original power steering pump.
View 3 RepliesThe problem starts after about 5-10 mins of start up and normal driving. First signs usually come leaving a stop light or stop sign. Hesitation, jerkiness, rough acceleration. It's usually slight, just enough to feel it. Soon it really shows up while keeping the truck at a steady speed, say 40 for example.
I finally heard what I would describe as a puffing air sound and figured vacuum leak.. finally! Nope.. it's coming from the rear underneath of the vehicle. I can't hear it in the engine, or the tail pipe.
2002 Ford Explorer xls 4.0 125k miles, I've replaced the air filter, egr valve, pcv valve, cleaned the maf and covered about every hose I can reach with carb cleaner checking for a vacuum leak. I've yet to try some of the other things due to hearing that puffing sound.
my 2002 monte carlo sat for a few weeks and when i started it the radio doesn't work nor do i get the sound with the key being left in the ignition. fuses seem ok.
View 6 Replieshave 2002 Explorer with 4.6l that stalled at a stop light and upon restart, there was noticeable ticking and a sucking sound. The exhaust regularly sucks your hand against the pipe. Ticking is from all around the engine. Exhaust smells like rotten eggs.
Son was driving and we just got it back to house so I do not know much more than that. Where to start to diagnose.
I recently did a brake job on an 02 Explorer, consisted of new pads and rotors (Rear). The Slide pins were fine and the piston was not frozen in the calipers.
Shortly after the Explorer will occasionally make this "thump...thump....thump..." feeling/sound.
It is not vibration.... it feels more like passing over small bumps in the road.
It is most consistent from 30-50mph, but I have felt it from 20-65.
It is more prominent on decel, but you can feel it on accel as well.
It makes no difference if you touch the brakes or not, or if you push the clutch in and/or take it out of gear.
Speed does not seem to effect the timing of the "thumps" it appears to be the same from 20-60mph. I'm at a loss...
I went through all the fuses that I could test with a test light and everything works. I just cant figure out why the radio doesn't come on. doesn't show the time or anything.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2008 F150 4-Door. A couple of weeks ago I tried to turn my radio on and it wouldn't come on. I though it was just the cold weather affecting it. The following week I tired the radio again and it still would not come on so I pulled the fuse and checked it and it was good. Put in back in and the radio still would not come on. So I got a new fuse and put it in and the radio still would not come on. So what am I missing. What else can it be.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2008 F150 4 door 5.4 V8. It's your standard F150. Power Steering, Power Brakes, Radio/CD Player and A/C. It has just a little over 120 thousand miles on it. Until now I haven't had any problems with it. About a week ago I got in and cranked the truck and radio, clock didn't come on. I thought it was turned off so I pushed the button a couple of times with no results.
That evening I checked the fuse and the fuse wasn't blown but I checked it anyway and it was good. But I still replaced it with a new fuse that I checked to make sure it was good and the result was the same. No radio or clock. I have been told that there's another fuse behind the radio that could be blown. So here's my questions. First is there another fuse behind the radio. Second is how do you get the radio out and the third question is can you buy a refurbished one and if so where and what would the cost be. Or could it be something else.
When car is started, volume on radio is very low. As the car warms up, the radio volume increases. What do I check or fix?
View 13 RepliesWiper problem is that they only work on high. The symptoms are as follow. The relay is working as the controls are ran thru the intermittent steps. I have tried two control switches and they acted the same. So, I believe the problem is in the motor. There doesn't appear to be any wire problems on the plug so it must be inside the motor. Could this be that grease problem inside the motor and it just needs to be cleaned and re-greased?
Radio, Has power to the plug but doesn't work at all. It doesn't appear to have a head unit fuse that I keep reading about. I have not tried to hook it up direct yet but will try that tonight. I am trying to get this truck ready to sell and need to get these items cleared up.
It is a 2001 XLT Extra Cab 4X4 with a 3.0.
Am I the only one experiencing radio display blackout? I have a 2006 Explorer Sport Trak. the radio display goes blank and stays blank. Do I have to replace the whole unit or is there a fix?
View 2 RepliesMy '99 Explorer has the 4.0 OHV. It has 95,000 miles. Recently, I noticed the 4x4 Low light and the OD light don't work. I doubt these are related, but it's odd that they both quit working at similar times. When I turn the 4x4 selector switch to 4x4 High, it works and the light comes on. When I push the OD button on the gearshift lever, nothing happens.
