Ii have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT. Some days ago I tried to open truck doors with the remote controller and I couldn't. I put new batteries on it and it didn't work either. So i change for another controller I had (not new but in good conditions) i programmed that control and was perfect for 4 days. Now the new control does the same, it has new batteries and doesn't want to work.

I thought the battery was dying cuz she says she didn't do anything. But she also insists she used the key to open it, not the factory fob/keyless.
So i was playing around with a second fob and it also isn't working.
After playing with the buttons, every now and then the lock function will work, and I think it unlocked. But not like yesterday (1 press).
I have a hard time believing the fobs are both on the way out, but is there something that she could've done that disabled the keyfobs?
I have a 02 ford explorer sport trac the overdrive is not working and I have fixed the wire in the steering column and the neutral safety switch and it still does not work. What it could be???

View 6 RepliesI just bought an 02 Eddie Bauer 4.6 4x4 for my mother in law. The power gas and brake pedals are not working. Worse than that the gas pedal is stuck all the way forward (firewall) and the brake pedal is stuck all the way up high(towards the seat) They do try to move, so the switch is working. How do I get them even again?

It has aftermarket stereo , not sure if wiring from that would affect cruise control as well as radio controls. Cruise light does not even light on dash. Clockspring? Radio wiring harness?
View 2 RepliesI am going to be pulling a trailer next week. I bought a raybestos voyager XP controller. I expected it to be plug and play but what I got was four wires. I have heard that there is a plug ready under the dash to plug a controller into directly. I found a gray pigtail with male ends. Is this it? Should I take controller back and get one with the correct plug or is there a harness one can buy or is a stop to my local ford dealer in the future.

View 4 RepliesTroubleshooting my heat/AC selector (manual) problem in my 2002 F150 SuperCrew. I started with the "all air through the defrost vents issue" that's a fairly common problem. I found that the vacuum line thru the firewall (to the selector controller, I think) had a hole in it chewed by a mouse. But, while I was in the process of disconnecting the line from the T on the engine side of the firewall, the rest of the line just easily pulled through the firewall!.
Now I need to find where the line was going to and get a new one connected. In looking under the dash, I didn't see an obvious answer to my question of where the controller is located that the vacuum line was connected to. Where that connection is made behind the dash and how do I get access to it? Hope I don't have the drop the whole dash.
I have a 2003 Explorer with the Factory Keyless Entry on the driver's door. It recently quit working with either my code or the factory code. I have cleared my code, and the only response is that the keypad will light up, and I can lock all doors with the pad. It refuses to take a code to unlock. Other than the dealer route (and a possible new GEM)? The wireless remotes continue to work well.
View 14 Replies2002 ford sport trac.I have been having an ongoing issue that started with the engine cranking but would not turn over until an hour passed. After replacing multiple parts (cam shaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, ignition pack) I am now down to poor fuel economy as the last of the issues (roughly 12 in the city and 15 highway). I was told the issue may be the engine coolant temperature sensor going bad so I decided to replace it. I found this was very difficult due to it being a plug and locking pin design and in a very tight spot in the engine.
I tried to purchase a replacement and the parts store kept trying to insist on selling me a part with threading. I finally found someone that figured out the issue and found the part for the 2001 sport trac had the same plug style with clip that did fit but was shaped a little different on the sensor end which I assume was due to being aftermarket. I noticed that there were two plugs side by side and the one easiest to access was on the left and I was told the one on the right was the sensor that gave the temperature reading to the gauge.
After installing the engine coolant temperature sensor I found the temperature gauge on the dash now will not respond and is sitting below the cold end of the gauge completely off. Is it possible this is because the part was for a 2001? Is the sensor on the left (passenger side) the engine coolant sensor?I would hate to put the old sensor back in just to test if that's the issue due how difficult it was to put that locking pin back on. What to check that could resolve the gauge issue before pulling this sensor back out?
As the title states, I have a 05 Sport Trac, just plain Jane. No keyless entry, no remote start, no steering wheel tilt. Just standard. I am wanting to install a Viper 4103 remote start/keyless entry kit to it. I just don't know if I will need any extra parts? I've tried googling and all kinds of stuff but cant find a straight answer. Some sites say I need an immobilizer bypass, some say I don't.

Ok just bought a '04 F250 Diesel. Loving everything but can't get the keyless code to work. The keypad lights when I touch it and I have retrieved the 5 digit code from the "Bosch" box behind the radio. No deal. Locks don't react at all to the factoy code. Know what? I read that there is a list of all the possible codes. Where can I get that list?

I ignored it when I'm leaving the car I lock it with the key fob it chrips then my son rushes outside and opens the door. That's when I noticed the door didn't lock then I try the door switch to lock and unlock the doors but nothing happens I tried the passenger switch nothing

I just bought an '08 F350 Super Duty CC. When I bought it, the previous owner gave a me card with the code on it. So I tried to reprogram the keyless keypad to a new code that I can remember, no luck at all. Followed all the steps on how to reprogram it like a hundred times and still won't reprogram. So I've noticed that none of the lights light up except 7*8, none of the other buttons won't light up.
Could the keyless keypad be going south? Maybe the contacts in the keyless keypad are gummed up or a relay? Need to get this feature to work cause I sure would use it a lot. Also how do I remove the interior door trim to get to the keyless keypad? The door panel has electric locks, electric window, power mirrors, telescoping rear view mirrors, memory seating buttons and speaker pillar.
If your truck came with the FOB to open the doors remote, but not the keypad on the door, you can add one. Originally the keypad was hard wired and was an expensive option. Several years later the newer keypads were RF signal just like the FOB. If you have or had FOB, then you have the keyless module on the truck (mounted to firewall infront of the emergency brake).. All you have to do is buy the newer style RF keypad, stick it to the door, and program like the FOB. I just did this on a 2002 F150.
