My entry pad on the outside of the drivers door stopped working on my 2002 Explorer. Not only does it not open the doors but they don't light up when push the buttons. I looked in the owners manuel for a fuse related to this but did not see one. Which fuse the number pad is controlled by?
View 5 RepliesThe driver side lock actuator on my 1999 Explorer has stopped working. It got so I couldn't even use the key to lock the driver door. I know I can get a replacement part, but after taking of the door panel and trying to get at the actuator, I am concerned about doing the work myself. Any tricks for making the job easier? Are there special tools that would make it easier? Or would it be best just to take it to a repair shop and let them do it?
View 6 RepliesKeyless entry stopped working on driver's door, but still works on passenger door and hatch. Pushing the buttons still works. I already changed the battery in the fob, so it's obviously a problem with the sensor in the door handle.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2002 VW Passat. This weekend the keyless entry was working fine. Then on Monday, I go to unlock the doors, and the key less entry will only unlock the Driver's door. It will not unlock any of the other doors. I've tried searching but couldn't find any previous posts about this. What could be causing the problem?

View 2 RepliesI recently got a used 2007 prius as my first car; Unfortunately today the drivers side lock has stopped working. when trying to use the smart unlock, the Prius would beep many times, and the drivers door would not unlock (or lock for that matter). After getting into the car (with the mini key) I noticed that the inner lock button does not lock or unlock that door either.
All other doors function normally. The lock can be manually operated, so it's probably not mechanical.
I have a 2007 Santa Fe. The drivers door handle has stopped working. I can open the door with the inside handle. The locking mechanism is fine. I took the interior panel off and found there is a middle metal panel, which stopped me from getting to the exterior door handle mechanism to see what is wrong. I can't find any information on how to correctly remove the middle panel. I remove the bolts but am not sure how to deal with the two cables from the inside handle to the lock and if there is anything else needed to release the middle panel.

Is there an easy solution, such as a fuse? Or, does something else, more extensive, need to be done, i.e., should I seek out a professional mechanic?
As an aside, around the same time (if not the same time), my folding side mirror for my driver door stopped working. Any possibility they are related?
I just bought a new to me, '09 F-150 4X4. It is plush on the inside and didn't have too many miles on it. One thing that was lacking in the owners manual or any other material in the owners package was the code to unlock the doors. The local Ford dealer wants to charge to get the code for me. I was told there was a site one could go in the internet, plug in some information about the vehicle and the code would be displayed.
View 9 RepliesSo yesterday, I posted this thread [URL] ... and I reprogrammed my keyfob successfully. The keyless entry works now, but I my driver door does not lock. I can't even lock it with the key. The only time it locks, is if I'm riving and it auto-locks, but right after I get out, can't get it to lock again. The red light on the door is flashing, my keyfob works, every other door locks. What I can do? It's a 2004 Jetta Wagon.

View 3 RepliesI have a 98 explorer, I try to unlock the drivers door with the key and I can turn it to lock the door but it will not unlock it however I can go as far as I can and unlock all the doors, now the strange part (to me anyway) I can not unlock the door from the inside either by using the power lock or by trying to unlock it manually....
View 14 RepliesI have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 2 Door. Recently, I have been having trouble with my driver side door lock. Sometimes, but not always, the driver side door will not unlock with the keyfob, the actual key, door panel keyless entry, or unlock button inside the car. I hear the mechanisms working to unlock the door, but then it immediately locks itself back. The passenger side door unlocks fine with the keyfob. My solution has been to unlock the passenger side door and climb over and manually pull the driver side door handle which finally releases the lock and opens the door. What I can do to fix the problem?
View 4 RepliesI've got a 1997 F-250 that as soon as you put it in gear to go forward, the doors lock as is the norm on these "new" vehicles. My complaint is that when you stop an get out, the drivers side unlocks, BUT the passenger side doesn't. THEN invariably I go around to get something out of the passenger side and its LOCKED. That's when my blood pressure goes into orbit. A trip to my dealer yielded no cigar. He stated that some models could be tricked into unlocking, but not this one.
View 4 RepliesMy driver's door power window motor stopped working. Replaced motor (Dorman). New motor was shaky and wouldn't stop when going down. Replaced motor again (Dorman), same thing. Regulator became damaged, replaced (Dorman), smoother, still won't stop with auto button, or holding down button. At some point glass came out of regulator and track. Replaced glass. Window goes up and down smoothly, but just doesn't stop when going down and tries to keep going. I don't see a limit switch or circuit for it. I see there is a relay and a fuse for the auto down. What tells the motor to stop driving current?
View 2 RepliesI found a broken spring hanging in my drivers side door latch.The power lock is now inoperatable, my question is can I buy just the spring or do I have to buy the whole latch-? I'm new here and can't find the answer,also will door need to be disassembled to install the spring.
