I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport, and to remove the rear passenger window. The car is a two door, and the passenger windows are the smaller "flap" out style. I was able to remove the two torx screws on the hinge itself, but the glass portion is held in some sort of bracket, and I'm having trouble removing that.
View 3 RepliesMy son has an '03 Explorer. The passenger side window will not go down. We took the panel off the door and used a volt meter to check to see if voltage was coming from the switch to the motor. Both the up and down side of the motor pigtail was getting fire from both the driver side switch and the passenger side switch. We bought a used window assembly (cables, motor, etc) and tried the switches. The switch worked until the window was fully extended to the up/closed position, then would not go down...just like the one in the door. Took the motor off the window assembly (the original one still in the door) and tried the switch and it works fine...both up and down. There seems to be a limit switch or something that knows when something has over extended.

View 11 Replies2003 Ford Explorer passenger front window will not close. The window went down and will not go up. Door locks on passenger front side work. When window button is pressed to open, light on button goes out.
No sound when button pushed. All other windows and power work. Recently, I have had to have engine on to open/close same window. I just want the window up,I can live with not opening window.
Rear passenger window will only go up. I tried new motor, same problem, swapped switch with other back door the problem stayed on the same side. Drivers main switch to that rear window does same thing, up but not down.
View 12 RepliesI have a 1997 ford explorer, the passenger side rear window only works in one direction, I have tested motor and it does work in both directions reversing the polarity, checked switch by checking voltage on each prong of plug (where motor plugs into harness), and does get 12 volts on each line as switch is being activated,I think there may be a ground problem on the one side that does not work, where to start looking??

How do I remove the trim inside the lift gate? I saw two screws and removed them, but it's still being held in place. Is it near the indented handes? There seems to be little square plastic screw covers in there. I couldn't remove them (I was on the road) and didn't want to hack them if they weren't.
I have a 2001 explorer sport 2wd. My problems are that when I put the driver or passenger window all the up it makes a noise under the dash then i let go of the button then the driver window goes down halfway. when i drive at night i can see a dim light behind the turn signals blinking even if I don't have the lights on. also when i have the lights on i cant put the window up if its down, i have to turn off the lights to put the windows up.
View 4 Replies2010 Explorer XLT. The left rear power window lowers, but does not raise back up with the driver's master control switch (the 4 switch control on the driver's door). It does, however, lower and raise fine with the single switch on it's own rear door. Thinking it was a bad master switch module on the driver's door, I replaced it and the same thing still happens - works fine with it's own single switch but will only lower and not raise with the driver's door switch. All the other windows work fine. This has me totally stumped.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2006 f150 extended cab and the rear passenger window stopped rolling up one day. I ordered a replacement regulator and installed it. It still doesn't work and I tested then switch in the door and it seems to be working still. The window itself does not seem to be caught on anything either.

View 5 RepliesI am looking at buying a 2004 Lariat and everything works beautifully on the truck with one exception, the passenger rear window. When the switch is pressed it not only doesn't move but there are no signs that the motor or regulator are working. The salesman grabbed the window and proceeded to say it was probably just "stuck". The window moves up and down about 1/4-1/2 an inch almost like it is not bolted to the track. Seeing as how I am new to this vehicle are there any common issues?

View 3 Replies2005 Sport Trac 4x4... So, my fiance purchased this new off the floor before i met her (or else she wouldn't have bought it). Had a motor issue which required a new motor after 90k miles.. Anyways, while driving on a normal road, i dropped the rear window and hear this whining noise. Checked the transmission fluid and it was a little low, nothing major. Topped it off with Mercon V... No effect. Where do i look next. It does not have a tow package. Do i check the transfer case, or rear differential?.I am thinking differential because the transfer case is more upfront to where the noise is. you cant hear it with front windows down. Only the rear sliding window or rear passenger's windows.
View 9 RepliesI am having trouble removing the rear passengers side panel. Whoever owned the car before me must have removed it and not put in back on properly, its way off aligned. You can see in the pics exactly what I am talking about. I tried to remove the panel last night and was having issues and thought i was going to break something. I don't want to snap any clips off and not have the panel fit back on properly. How this panel is properly removed?
View 3 RepliesI have an 04 lariat extended cab truck with the sliding rear window, but i have a leak somewhere back there. I have noticed that water literally drips right in the top middle of the window, but around the window is dry. Also, the roof interior trim is wet at the corners in the rear closest to the door. i do have a cracked 3rd brake light, is that the reason it is leaking or is there a seal somewhere else outside on top of the truck, maybe around the rear window as a whole?
View 3 Replies2001 XLT V10.. rear passenger window would not go down so I replaced the window motor, all went well.
With the switch and window went down nicely, would not return upwards. Changed switches with the other door, no change. Went to driver door and used the master there, nothing.
Pulled the motor back out, goes only one direction. Tested the old motor, same thing just opposite direction...old motor would not bring window down, new motor will not bring window up. ok..
Now, with them out, I plugged them into the socket again and used the driver door control for the right rear passenger window...nothing at all. At the passenger door itself we have the actuator going in one direction...at the drivers door trying to make the passenger rear actuator work..nada, zip, dead.
Took the motor and plugged it into another door and both motors are working perfectly.. So..can the driver door switch be bad and upsetting the system? I truly hate electrical...this confirms my distaste..
I just purchased a 2001 F-150 XLT and while driving it back to town my brother rolled down the window and now it wont go back up! The drivers side works fine, but the passenger side wont roll up using either side of the switches. I know it isnt the motor because neither side would work. What it might be or how I could fix it?
View 5 RepliesSo my Explorer has been parked for over a year following a minor front-end collision. I went to move it yesterday only to find that the rear passenger wheel was locked up. It wouldn't move fw or backwards and it felt like the brakes were locked up. I took the wheel off and it appeared that the caliper wasn't releasing properly, so I pryed the pads away from the rotor and tried again but still couldn't move the vehicle. So I jacked both rear wheels off the ground and tried. The passenger wheel remained locked while the drivers side rear wheel would spin a bit one way and then back the other way. It is possible that the brake locked up again as I had to depress the brake in order to get it in gear, but am wondering if there is something else going on. Also... Seems the truck is stuck in 4x4 even though the selector switch in in 'auto' (my 4x4 switch choices are Auto, 4-Lo and 4-Hi). Is it correct that as soon as one of the wheels is off the ground that the vehicle goes into 4x4? If so then that makes sense.
View 1 Replies2005 RX330 ... The passanger-side rear marker light (bottom corner of bumper) is broken . I would like to replace it myself, but can't figure out how to remove it. By looking from underneath the car, it appears the assembly is bolted on, but the nut is in an impossible to reach place, even using socket extensions and a universal joint. Other than removing the rear bumper cover, how to remove the entire rear marker light assembly?
View 14 RepliesCheck this out, I was driving on a road trip yesterday 300 mile round tripper and just one time the rear passenger window went down on its own. Freaked me out for a second and then had me worrying it would do it again but never did, just a glitch or ghost in the machine I guess but I didn't like it.
