Ford - Explorer :: 1996 - Windshield Washer Fluid Not Coming Out
Apr 5, 2010
I have a '96 explorer, v-8 5.0 ....
My windshield washer fluid has stopped coming out of the cleaning nozzles on the rear, driver's and passenger sides. I can hear the pump pumping and have disconnected the hose from the driver's side and ran the windshield cleaner system. Cleaning fluid came out of the hose easily. Then the hose for the rear was tested. Fluid came out of the hose.
The reservoir was emptied and checked to see if there was dirt that might be clogging the intake. It was clean. The nozzles where the cleaning fluid comes out were cleaned with a small wire from both ends. Also a bottle of compressed air was used and air was felt coming through easily. I am thinking the pump might have lost enough pressure that no fluid can be pushed hard enough to come through the very end before it gets sprayed on the windshield. What might be wrong?

I have a windshield washer fluid leak. It's leaking onto the passenger side floor under the dash. Any have a good place to start looking or how to access the area it might be leaking at?

I am posting this here as it is in reference to the 5.4 motor but in a 2001 Expedition.
My wife was driving our 2001 Expo the other day and the warning light came on that the windshield washer fluid was low. When she got home I popped the top the re fill the washer fluid and there was what appeared to be green coolant in the reservoir. It even smelled like coolant.
It filled the reservoir about half way which made me wonder why even though it was coolant it made the washer fluid light come on. I then checked the coolant reservoir and it had fluid in it but it looked brown and nasty. The motor is the 5.4. What is going on?

I would like to monitor the windshield washer fluid level on our '03 Ford Taurus. Unfortunately, the fill nozzle goes underneath a piece of the chassis and I can't tell where it goes or where the reservoir is located. The manual was of no use whatsoever. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I'm stumped.

On my 2000 OHV Explorer the windshield washer just dribbles. I purchased a new pump and still dribbles.
I took the nozzles and pump from my 2000 SOHC Explorer that worked great and put them on the OHV one and still dribble.
I even cleaned out the lines first. How to get these to function properly?

I have a 2005 F-250 6.0 Powerstroke.
My washer fluid pump is not working, it was a few weeks ago but now it is broken. The Owner's Manual only has the listing fuse 33 for "cluster, 4x4, wipers". It looks like some of the older models have an actual fuse for the "washer fluid pump". I checked fuse 33 under the dash and it is ok. What fuse controls the washer fluid pump?
The pump does not make noise when activated, so I'm starting at the fuse but I don't know what the hell is going on.

Every time I refill the bottle, the next morning I always find the fluid under driver's side bumper on my driveway.

Recently the low windshield washer warning light came up on my dash. I rarely use it so found it weird. As I thought it was pretty full already. The warning only show up when its around 4 degree Celsius and doesn't show up when its around 10 degree.

Recently the dash display indicated that I needed to add washer fluid. I was surprised that it would be low since I rarely use it and had not done so lately.
Yesterday I added water to the bottle and heard a trickling noise as I was doing so. To my surprise the water was leaking out below the car! The bottle remains empty.

I recently purchased a 2009 Camry XLE with 14,000 miles on it. So far so good other than the windshield/dash noise rattle when it is cold which I have searched on found a fix. However the other challenge I am having is the windshield washer fluid is leaking. It is a toyota certified car (warranty for 12 mos/ 12,000 miles) so I figured the 160 point inspection was completed expecting they would have topped off all fluids. I filled the washer fluid to where I could see it in the neck of the container. I walked back into my garage to put away the washer fluid, while walking back towards the car I could see something was leaking from under the car. It was leaking from a hole of the plastic directly under the car that covers everything up so you are unable to look up into the engine compartment. What may be causing this leak? I would suspect about 10 to 14 oz leaked.

Replacing the windshield washer fluid reservoir? Mine is leaking badly. I think I need to take off the front driver side wheel but I am not sure.

I have a leaking washer fluid reservoir. Spews out under the car when I try to fill it up and then get the low washer fluid warning. Have always used washer fluid -20F formula.

Whenever I use my windshield wiper fluid it smells like Elmers glue, its weird, I never had anything like that before in any other car. It still cleans just fine I am just curious.

Noticed that the windshield washer fluid level is ALWAYS low, needing significant amount to refill, even when not used? I'm not talking weeks or months, so that evaporation could be the cause, but rather DAYS. No evidence of leaks under vehicle, either. What could do this?

I can hear the sprayer motor when I activate the toggle, but no spray from the squirters! (in the past I've encountered this on a honda, usually we'd just pull the squirter and soak it in a cup of solvent then pop it back on after shooting it black) but on the B6 it looks more complicated!!!

I just picked up a 2014.5 Camry (my 1st Toyota) and how full the windshield washer reservoir should be at max level. Now hear me out before you fall off your chair from hysterical laughter, if I fill up the reservoir up to the lid like every other car I have owned, after a short drive it will go down and be below the filler neck, clear down under the fender even though I haven't sprayed the washer fluid.
I haven't seen any fluid dripping but I believe I have a leak. Sounds pretty cut and dry but I'm asking just incase Toyota has a weird fill level on the washer reservoir.

When I press the lever to spray washer fluid on the windshield none comes out. I hear the motor and the wipers work.

My washer fluid leaked out of the bottom of the reservoir and I would like to pull the fuse because it keeps beeping it is low. obviously. I do not have a rear wiper as it is shaved so #27 fuse is out and I was wondering if I pulled # 24 if that would stop the damn sensor or if I can pull something else, maybe just unplug it from the reservoir. I find myself using it never so I wont be fixing it anytime soon.
