I just got a Walker SoundFX muffler and there is no drain hole for condensation. Should I make one?

View 3 Repliesi have my 4 inch exhaust pipe cut just behind the rear of the cab right now with no muffler. If i cut it further up maybe jsut under the front seat or so what would this to the sound? would it make it deeper or louder?

View 14 RepliesWas just mulling over redoing part of the exhaust system on my truck. As it stands the original y-pipe is still intact but some bozo reduced the rest of the system down to 2.25 inch with an ancient glasspack for a muffler. Maybe he thought it would net some kind of benefit, maybe he was just throwing together parts from his backyard. Either way it's going, I'm planning to keep the Y-pipe but step it up to 3 inch with a Flowmaster chambered muffler and I just suddenly wondered if the position of the muffler in the system affects performance. If I put it directly after the Y-pipe the exhaust pulses would hit it sooner...
View 14 Repliesi plan on getting rid of either the cat or the muffler probly in about a week...which one would be better to lose?
i dont care about the sound cause either way i go if i keep one it shouldnt get much louder right and either one will increase power/torque... im wondering which one bill better my mpgs the most im leaning towards muffler it will be easier and more legal...then again my truck already passed inspection
I have an 2003 Explorer 4.0 and I am looking at replacing my muffler. Only problem is I don't know who to go with. I am looking for a mellow tone with minimal interior noise. I have been looking at Flowmaster, Magnaflow & Dynomax although I can't make a decision. I have heard how the 4.0 Ranger sound's on Magnaflows website(sound's OK) aside from all the horrible sound clips floating around that don't have good quality to listen too. I was looking at Flowmaster 50 series Delta Flow and there SUV muffler(a tad thicker than Delta series) but want some feedback on who/what to go with. Also, right before the tailpipe ends, next to the spare tire underneath, there looks to be what looks like a resonator if I am correct on the tailpipe. Can this be removed and replaced with new piping? Will it hurt performance or make the exhaust sound different?
View 14 RepliesYesterday, I heard a loud "pop" while cruising at 60mph. Pull into a rest stop and and discovered a hole in the muffler. The engine now idled roughly, but seem to smooth out about 2000 rpm.
Question for the experts: can the loss of a muffler cause the engine to run rough? It's a 460cid in a '77 F350.
I have a 2007 Passat turbo wagon and my cat converter got a hole in it the other day. I drove in morning and it was just noisy otherwise fine. My wife took it in afternoon and almost didn't make it home. Could hardly make it up a hill and brakes had to be applied to floor. Anti lock would vibrate but not very responsive to stopping. Was towed to local mechanic next day and he thinks problems are related. Could the computer cause a breakdown of the brakes due to bad exhaust system? He says he can't find ant leaks in brake system. He is waiting for the cat converter to come in to replace and hopes brakes will work again.
View 10 RepliesJust brought my 2006 f250 crew cab v8 to the garage. My muffler has a fairly large hole in it. My mechanic said the piping to the muffler is still in good shape and literally, the only part that requires replacing is the muffler itself. I told him I'd like a bit more of a "throaty" sound than the original stock muffler. He suggested the dynomax super turbo. I checked a few US websites and it's about half price there with free shipping. In fact, most mufflers are about half price in the States. There are so many to choose from, Which brand and model to go with. I'd like to keep it as close to a direct fit as I can seeing as all the pipes are still good.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2003 F250 5.4L crew cab with the 156"wb. She has just developed a hole in the stock muffler so it will need to be replaced.
I want something that is an easy-fit, has better flow, and maybe better sounding.
I have a big hole in my catalytic converter and the car sounds like it is missing a muffler. Where I should go to have that hole welded as i do not see myself spending ~700 to get a new one for Passat 2003.
View 24 RepliesI've got a 2006 6.0 350 with stock exhaust and am wanting to either delete the cat or the muffler, but not both. I'm curious how each would sound? For example, would deleting the cat make it louder than deleting the muffler, or will one make the turbo whine more audible than the other? Also, is there any benefit to deleting one over the other, performance wise? Oh, I'm not really looking for loud and obnoxious, but more turbo whine wouldn't be too bad .
View 2 Replies2000 honda accord automatic, 4 cylinder. As I unscrew the drain plug of the transmission, i stripped about 2/3 of the hole threads. the bolt threads are OK. what are my choices to fix it? i do not believe there is room to "tap and die" (?). I visited locan NAPA and they suggested me using 2 liquid epoxy. what i am thinking to do first is to use the liquid gasket surrounding my bolt, bolt them in using the remaining 1/3 of the hole thread. Let is sit and cured. it will work?
View 8 RepliesChanging the oil in my friends gli tonight and the drain plug ended up becoming stuck in the oil pan hole, just spinning in both directions and not tightening or loosening. He has the hybrid oil pan, and we took the bottom steel part off, do they sell just that part so I could fix the stripped drain hole, or should I try and salvage the one I have now and rethread the hole with a bigger drain plug?
View 1 RepliesI have a 94 f150 with the 351 and i was wondering how loud it would be with that huge stock muffler cut off and jsut the two cats still in place. I heard the cats will still quite it down a little bit cuz I don't want anything obnoxiously loud...
View 1 RepliesWant to install exhaust system on my 06 F350.Tell me,what is the best brand for my truck,I know, very good intake system is from K&N,what about exhaust?
View 10 RepliesHow will a muffler delete on stock exhaust sound? I don't want to remove the cat because I don't want it to be too loud. I want it to sound good but not too much whistle (considering my truck is a 2003 the whistle would be very loud) Should I just to a delete pipe on the stock exhaust, or do a cat-back 4 inch straight pipe? what will sound better? Also doing the cat back exhaust will cost a lot more.. but is it worth it? What I should do.
View 4 RepliesHave the APR RSC exhaust - developed rattles, specifically in one of the RSC muffler chambers?
I've had my exhaust installed for almost 6 months. About 2-3 months ago, I noticed a rattle from under the car somewhere. I finally got underneath the car a few weeks ago to check it out and the rattle is most definitely coming from the rear RSC muffler (right before the exhaust tips). I'm positive that's the source and I'm guessing that the welds inside for the baffles / walls that compose the RSC technology failed, and a piece is now rattling around inside. It only rattles at low RPM, but it's loud (especially in a parking garage) and super embarrassing.
I noticed liquid leaking from the area between the B exhaust pipe and the muffler. The B exhaust pipe is simply the long exhaust pipe that attaches to the A pipe, or center exhaust pipe near the front. I think the leak is water. It's a slow leak/drip that appears to be coming from the gasket. I have a 1.6L 1998 Honda Civic DX.
View 6 RepliesNoticed the condensation from the exhaust seems to only exit on the left muffler when the vehicle is idling?
Is there an actuator that turns the right side unit on under heavier acceleration?
BMW uses an actuator on their exhaust system that opens up to create more airflow when above a certain RPM.
About 4 weeks ago my 2015 sports turbo developed loud exhaust, deep rumble, dealer replaced left rear muffler. Noise still there. I'm suspecting the center muffler.
