This started a bit ago. Every time it rains I get water in my glove box. The weatherstrip on the plastic cowl is missing but I have a hard time believing that is the issue. There are signs of rust on the top corner above the windshield. The paint is bubbling. I'm not sure what it is but I need to stop it as soon as possible!
View 1 RepliesThis morning, after a hard rain, we went to town to run a few errands. When we were going down the road my wife opened the glove box. It was filled with water. When I say filled...I mean filled. I looked at that side of the windshield and found a few things that concern me. There is a bit of rust at the top corner of the windshield that has bubbled the paint. The small strip of weatherstrip that should be at the top of the plastic shroud (where the windshield wipers are at) is missing. Could either be the cause of the water in the glove box? I am worried that if the glove box is filled that wiring behind the dash could have been exposed to the moisture as well.

1) When it rains, I get water dripping in the cab over the glove box. The seal on the windshield looks fine. Truck has a sun roof. Is there a drain tube or something from there that might be plugged?
2) AC sometimes blows very humid air in the cab. It doesn't do it all the time, but seems to be in a cycle. After it runs for a while it switches to this humid mode and gets almost unbearable, to the point that I turn it off. In summer, when cooling, this air is warm. In winter, air is warm, but fogs windows pretty bad. What causes this? Noticed also that the tubes under the hood covered in frost and truck drips water from this area seemingly excessive when I park it.
The truck is an 05 F350 King Ranch 4x4 with the 6.0 Powerstroke
Every time we get a hard rain, I end up with water on my carpet right at the rear of my Excursion. I'm thinking the weather-stripping has broken down. What is the source for it? All I can find is door weather-stripping.

View 1 RepliesSeems like when we get alot of rain and i run the blower in the truck water will blow out on the passenger side floor. it only happens for a minute or to and u can hear it swishing around in there. I blew the condensate hose that sticks out about the passenger side wheel well that drains the AC condensate is there something else i should be looking for? a mixing door that isn't closing? Some sort of drain in the blower clogged? its not antifreeze leaking. it is water.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2010 LS 460 Sport and recently noticed that there is a faint water sound coming from behind the glove box every time I accelerate from standstill and sometimes when the car is idle and the A/C is on. My initial thinking was that it is some sort of a clog in the A/C drain, and that's what I told my service supervisor at the most recent service at a Lexus dealership. They said that they could not find anything except for a bit of debris in the A/C drain, which they blew out, however the noise is still there. The best way that I can describe the noise is that it's similar to a noise that a rainstick makes.
View 3 RepliesDon't get much rain here in SoCal except during the winter. After the last rain I noticed that there was water in the heating/ac vent system - or at least that's where I think it was.
When I made a right hand turn some water slopped out onto my foot and gave me quite a shock for a second till I figured out what had happened.
I suspect that there must be some kind of drain tube for the vent system that's become clogged, but before I start crawling around under the truck and dash I figured I would ask here first. Any useful tip on clearing the clog?

My 1988 Ranger has started leaking a gush of water onto the feet of passengers the first time I accelerate after a heavy rain. I saw the water flowing out from behind the glove box area as I started driving forward. How to fix this leak?
View 5 RepliesTwice I open the hood of my SD and I see water pooled up around the intake manifold on my 2001 F250 5.4. This happen when we have heavy rain. My truck is sitting on my drive way that has some angle to it. When it rains, all the water from the roof flows down the windshield and somehow the water is getting into the engine bay.
I cleaned out all the leaves and made sure the rubber molding were in place near the firewall, but it happen again last night. Is there something wrong with my truck to keep the water out. I suppose I could turn the truck around so that the rain will flow from the roof to the bed. But, I like parking my truck the way I park it.
We had almost 2 inches of rain in less than 20 minutes at 1:15, and at 2:00. I went to leave work and took a bath. Water poured out of the top gauge in the pillar pod. Where should I do a close look. Door seal, or windshield gasket?
I pealed back both at 2:45 and did not see anything on the top of the door seal. The top of the windshield gasket is a little open 4 inches in from the corner, but when i pealed it up a little it looked dry.
Whenever it rains a substantial amount, like all day I go out to my 92 Ranger and get in and notice the passenger side rubber floor mat has a puddle of water on it. I look under the floor mat and only the center of the carpet there is wet. I see it's getting the edge of that side of the headliner wet and ruining the new headliner had redone. I didn't realize there was water leaking until I got my headliner redone and put back in. It very well could have been leaking causing the headliner cloth to all tear. It's wet along the top passenger side where the grab handle is and the plastic trim. I thought it was the rain gutter on top of the roof so I put in some black silicone and some of it stopped but not all.
So I thought it was still leaking at the front corner so I put more silicone in. Don't know yet if that was what it was for sure but I'll find out tomorrow because it's raining pretty good right now. But just in case where else could it be getting this much water in. If you go through a carwash, or hose it down for awhile, or even drive while it's raining bad it won't get water inside. I'm not convinced it's the rain channel 100% because on the driver's side the putty filling the rain channel on the roof looks worse than the passenger side and there's no water coming in on the driver's side. There is no water coming in the back or on the back carpet or headliner.
I don't see any evidence around the windshield. I can't understand why only the middle of the passenger side carpet is soaked and not the top or under the seat, unless it's just soaking through the rubber floor mat and not drying out. It's getting so frustrating because I can't visibly find any evidence, I have to wait until it rains and then I can't see why it happens. It's ruining my carpet and my new headliner. I want to replace the carpet but want the leak stopped first. Where are common trouble areas on these 92 Rangers for water leakage?
I am finding that after a heavy rain that water is running out of the bottom of all four door drain holes when I open them.I have not noticed this on any other of my previous vehicles.Is it "a" good that they are draining well, or "b" bad that water is getting in in the first place?
View 11 RepliesOur '99 Explorer leaks when it rains. The water drips from under the dash on the driver's side floor. A while back a dealership put all sorts of sealant around the windshield gasket and that seemed to work for a while.
Where are the drains for the door channels, windshield and the air intake where the windshield wipers are connected? I'd like to make sure they are clear.
I have a 2003 BMW 525i. A couple of years ago, after a heavy rainstorm, I found water in the footwell of the backseat behind the driver’s seat. I took my car to a mechanic and he mentioned the door’s vapor barrier and the vapor barrier was resealed. Again a heavy rain storm, back to the mechanic and the vapor barrier was resealed. This has happened three times and I feel that there is a problem somewhere that has been overlooked by my mechanic. Normally, my car is garaged, but when out of town, my poor car is at the mercy of the weather.
View 2 RepliesMy backup assist only works when it is raining!! I have read all the posts I could find on the back up system, but have not found one one my issue. I had my wife turn the key on, engine off and put the truck in reverse. I put my ear to each sensor and they are clicking. So I am assuming they are working right. I took the speaker out and cleaned it and put it back in. No beeping at all!!
It was raining really bad one day last week and as I was sitting at the curb in reverse waiting to back into the driveway a car passed me and the system started going off. It startled me and the kids. I backed in and it worked as it should. Later that night we went out to eat and it was still raining and the system worked as I backed into a spot near a light post.
The rain stopped and the truck dried out and now the back up assist is nonoperational again! What is going on? To me it seems the moisture is completing a circuit that is not being completed when dry!
