Experienced the crazy sounds coming from the front end when making a turns, like a squealing sound, 2000 Ex 4wd, truck in 2wd high axles are unlocked. replaced steering box.
View 3 RepliesI have 2012 Tiguan, I just did a tire rotation as part of my 10k oil change. Afterward I started to hear a weird noise from front tires, especially when I was driving slow on smooth roads, I can hear tires make a noise every spin. The noise speed up with the tire speed. I do the oil change and tire rotation every 3k for my previous car, never had any problem.
View 2 RepliesLast night on our way home I was on the highway and we get into slow moving traffic around 25-30 MPH I get to heard this tap tap tap tap noise. which was going away when accelerating or braking.. and coming back when leaving the car rolling by itself... I did a bunch of recordings but this is the one you can heard the best... noise actually changes with speed and when turning, but again it goes away if I touch the brakes or the gas...
Noise appears to come from the front driver side.

So, I have a 1995 Ford Contour that I purchased in May from it's previous owner.
Within the past couple weeks, I've noticed a combination of sounds coming from under the front of the car, especially on the left side and especially when I slow down and make left turns. I know nothing about cars and I just worry about my car sounding like a sinking ship.
I have a 2005 Explorer XLT with the 4.0L V6 and AdvanceTrac.
I've had a worsening growl in the front end that sounds like it's coming from the front left wheel. I can feel it in the steering wheel, and the sound goes away when I turn the wheel right of center. Center (going straight) or leftward steering, and the noise comes right back.
I changed the wheel bearing today, and there is absolutely no change in symptoms. Turning the CV shaft back and forth by hand, something feels kind of "grindy." It is the same at any point along the shaft, which has me worried that the bad bearing is in the front differential.
I gotta a roaring noise coming from my right front while turning. Planning on replacing just the wheel bearings tomorrow & not the whole hub assembly(2008 2wd). Is there a thread that lays out the steps and other parts I may need? I've seen alot different stories on the net on how to do it. Everthing from I can press new bearings to I have to do 4x4 hub conversion. Seems to be some confusion.

View 2 RepliesI was on my way to the hardware store today and when entering the parking lot I heard a scraping sounds coming from the front end. I parked and looked under the GT and did not see anything hanging, drove around the parking lot and heard it again. Does not matter straight line or turning, i did notice when I braked I could not hear it. What this could be ? I went out again later to try to pin point it but I am not able to hear it anymore. Just not sure if I should take it in or not.
View 1 RepliesBefore I climb on the ground and go over the front (there is snow on the ground and I am still like 26 days from owning my first home and having a garage FINALLY.) Very recently the truck started to make a little low pop noise and you can feel it in the steering wheel a little bit, when I turn sharply, almost to the stop by not completely and it will start. Not dumb when it comes to vehicles, but new to these trucks so always good to ask for common problems first!
View 7 RepliesStarted hearing a squeak from drivers front wheel area when turning right, thought maybe pads might need replacing but they were fine as were the pins. So I checked for play with tire off ground and there was def some play pulling from top to bottom, so that lead me to the front hub, I read some posts about pulling the abs sensor and getting some grease in the the hub bearing so I did that but when I replaced the sensor and spun the hub it was scrubbing on the bearing.?
So I shimmed the sensor with a washer but now the abs light comes on but there doesn't seem to be a squeak when turning right anymore. Any example of doing this and had the sensor scrub? And with the play I would assume I need to plan to replace the hub assembly fairly soon...
2000 X 4x4 V10 with 147k
Starting having a problem with the front suspension on my 01 excursion. When you go over a incline I am getting a big bang in the front suspension also when you turn the steering wheel to the middle it has a jerk right before its in the straight position.
I have new wheel bearings and new locking hubs coming, this problem still happens without the hubs in. Could it be a front axle or U joint but it happens with the 4x4 disengaged.
When I turn LEFT at medium to low speeds I hear a "gravel-ly" grinding noise coming from the Right Front area. What could this be? Wheel bearings?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2010 Mountaineer Premier AWD V8 47k miles. On acceleration there is a hum/vibration in the steering wheel and the gas pedal between 30-50 mph. This is my third Mountaineer and I have never noticed it on the others, I just got this one about 2 months ago. The others were V6 models but were AWD. When I turn the 4x4 to the lock mode there are various noises/vibrations coming from the front of the car while it accelerates and also when turning.

Problem: In the last second (or so) coming to a complete stop I noticed a few light clunk type sounds, like something was loose up front. I never experienced any degradation in the braking performance.

View 3 RepliesAs the title states, I am getting a weird click from what seems to be both front and back when going over bumps or turning slow. Thinking it may be sway bar bushings or something like that, but not 100%... Its also not your typical blown CV boot click either, its more like something is flexing and hitting into something...
View 6 RepliesReplaced both rear calipers about 4 months ago, both were frozen. A few weeks ago I started getting some bad squeaking from the front brakes. The front calipers seemed fine when I did the rears.
Tonight I had even more fun with the beast. Drove to my sons baseball game and felt an odd "grinding" when braking. *Seems* to be coming from the front. On the way home, the grinding was worse and then the fun really started. Hit the brakes and the wheels started hopping enough to shake the whole friggin' truck. Leaving from a light, you could feel the brakes stick and then release, next stop was more shake n bake.
Not sure where to start on this one.
I am having a whistling noise coming from my front axle... It only happens when the hubs are locked and in 4WD when hubs are unlocked and in 4wd there is no whistling noise... I know they are vacuum operated for the auto hubs... We just got a good snow fall the past few days and have had to have the lockers locked to stay straight... Also can I keep the hubs locked and cruise and 55 to 60 mph ? or is it not good for the locking hubs...
View 2 RepliesBrought the truck home the other night after having the 4:88's and locker installed. At about 65mph plus I have a severe vibration that sounds like it's coming from the front. It's bad enough I can feel it in the floorboards.
After some research I'm thinking the drive shafts need to be balanced due to the increased speed they are now running at. The u joints are good and I trust the installer did a good job putting the gears in.
Factory gears were 3:73's. 7" of lift on 37's. Any other parts other than the drive shafts?
I've got a strange sound coming from the front axle. I want to rule out/in that it may be my auto lock hubs. Can I slide the hubs out and drive around? I dont see any problem I won't be offroad, just some miles to test it.
