Ford Excursion :: Water On Carpet At Right Rear After Rain - Weather Stripping Broke?
Aug 20, 2015
Every time we get a hard rain, I end up with water on my carpet right at the rear of my Excursion. I'm thinking the weather-stripping has broken down. What is the source for it? All I can find is door weather-stripping.

After several days of rain I found that the drivers side carpet is soaked. Upon further investigation I realized it was coming from underneath the car rather than from the side. I was able to put my hand under the carpet and feel the metal body underneath. It was soaked. I have never had this problem before and have not been in an accident. The car drives very well and has 130 miles. I recently replaced the transmission and was hoping to have this for a few more years.

In my 07 ES350 I had water on the carpet of the drives side all the way to the backseat! I was gone for a coupla days when this happened and with the heat it sure did have a musky odor when I opened the door!
I have looked all around the sunroof and cleaned the edges could not see anything that would leak although under the sunroof at the front there was water in the tray.
Then I looked all around the windshield. Could not see anything that could cause a leak. Lightly hosed off the car today and had water dripping down the driver side pillar and the covering for the pillar was wet.
This car has never had a leak anywhere until now. Gonna have to have the carpet removed and steam cleaned I guess to get rid of the odor, but not until I stop the leak!!!!

This started a bit ago. Every time it rains I get water in my glove box. The weatherstrip on the plastic cowl is missing but I have a hard time believing that is the issue. There are signs of rust on the top corner above the windshield. The paint is bubbling. I'm not sure what it is but I need to stop it as soon as possible!

This morning, after a hard rain, we went to town to run a few errands. When we were going down the road my wife opened the glove box. It was filled with water. When I say filled...I mean filled. I looked at that side of the windshield and found a few things that concern me. There is a bit of rust at the top corner of the windshield that has bubbled the paint. The small strip of weatherstrip that should be at the top of the plastic shroud (where the windshield wipers are at) is missing. Could either be the cause of the water in the glove box? I am worried that if the glove box is filled that wiring behind the dash could have been exposed to the moisture as well.

All- Yesterday i had the car in a driveway (incline of ~5Degree). I gave the car a nice wash (both above and under the car and got it in the garage so that i can wax it. removing the rear carpets (both Driver and pass side) i saw it being damp..
Pulled out the carpet and the rear of the car(see pics) was soaking wet. there was absolute no water in the driver and passenger well. I am not able to figure of the reason. Also the temperature is ~50 in Michigan so have not used the A/c for almost a month..
This is what i have done:
Looked at all the seals (the ones visible)- looked ok.
Took a horse and gave a nice under body wash.. no water came up
Checked the sunroof.. the sides of the seat were not wet (I think no water came from there)
All the door moulding, dry..
Am I missing some seals.. or am I overlooking something.

Water intrusion problem in the cargo area of the GX? I was getting ready to wash my GX and as I was pulling out my Weather tech cargo liner... I discovered that it was completely wet underneath and the whole rear carpet was damp and slightly musty smelling. I have recently driven through two very heavy rains...but nonetheless the Lexus should be watertight... Is this a known issue? Is there an area where it is possible for water to come in through the rear floor?

First off let me say I love my TDi for everything I bought it for...fuel economy, space, ride comfort.
I've noticed the wind noise before but had never taken a drive more than 30 minutes.I just took my first 300 mile road trip and REALLY noticed the EXCESSIVE wind noise.
I traded a 2010 GTI and its weather stripping was more full and produced a much better closed door seal and I never once had problems with wind noise in the 2 years that I owned.

Trying to work under the hood and notice that in the acre or so I have to work in, there are tons of canisters and hoses and lines. What all can be removed and what can be relocated?

My 2000 Excursion, 6.8L V10 misfires when I try to start it, after a rain storm, and for the longest time, I could not figure out what was going on. After much use of a garden hose, to make rain, I found the rear two cylinder wells, on passenger side fill with water, due to a design defect in the engine hood that causes run off down that side of the engine. I visited with a mechanic, and was told that the hood design is common to a lot of the F series trucks, and the 8 and 10 cylinder engines are prone to the water buildup in the passenger rear spark plug wells. I am going to try to put a shield of some sort, around the two cylinder wells, to divert the water.

A few months ago I purchased a 2002 4Motion wagon with 62,000 miles on it. I've discovered that in a hard rain that water is leaking into the car through both rear doors.
It seems that the water is coming in right where the rubber L-shaped bracket is located at the bottom of the door. I've removed those L-shaped rubber brackets and the problem still exists. It seems that the drain plugs on the door are not clogged.
I'm concerned that it has been going on for while prior to me owning the car and that a floor that has been frequently wet is going to be a problem long term - rust issue.

I have a persistent leak that causes the front passenger carpet to get wet after a heavy rain. Truck went to the dealer under warranty and they resealed the third brake light. Not sure if it ever fixed the problem, but I probably didn't check it as often as I should have after the repair. We've had a few good rain storms and the carpet is getting pretty wet. Since the truck is now out of warranty (2011 F150) I made a new gasket for the third brake light. I think it's pretty well sealed, so I'm thinking the leak is coming from somewhere else.

There is water sound under dash. I read about clogged drain so I tried sticking up a thin rod from drain line and gets stopped after some length. Should I force it up (push, hit harder) or will that break something? Is there a angle bend?
I did not get a water leak on carpet yet but the sound is getting more so more water collecting? What should I do next?

I have a 2009 Tiguan and after my car sat out overnight in a heavy rain I noticed a very odd thing today. Like normal the car smelled a little musty, something I've gotten used to after a rain. But I think I've found the cause. I hit my brakes hard to try to stop the squeakiness (another normal quirk after the rain) and I heard water running in the back seat. I looked back and saw water running on the floor beneath the passenger back seat. I hit the brakes hard again while looking back and watched it pour out of the other side beneath the plastic strip beneath the seat. I pulled over and looked and there are these little black channels underneath there where I believe the water came from. What are those and where is that water originating from? Is this normal?!

My 1996 Toyota Avalon runs great. However, it is starting to smell musty because rain water is somehow entering my rear passenger door. I have checked the seals and there does not appear to be any leaks where the water could be collecting. When I open the door, I hear water swishing inside the door. The mechanic drilled holes in the bottom of the door but water still stays in the door. I would like to keep my car for several more years. I placed 4 Damp Rid containers on the back seat and they collect water! I replace them every time it rains.

Purchased a 2017 santa fe sport limited back in april 2016.
It's been great but since day one the front and rear driver side doors have retained water after rain/snow.
When I open the doors, water just gushes out from the door panel holes along the door, and it's now become an issue because of winter.
The water freezes and door become hard to open, as well as the added weight to the door and condensation that may end up rusting parts...
My dealer took the car for 3 days and took it apart, but said they couldn't find out why water is being retained, and only released when I open the doors...
I'm not too sure what to do, Hyundai Canada denies the issue, and I do have lots of video footage and frozen pictures...

It happened twice since June when we (central NJ) have had really heavy rains. My front passenger side carpet becomes absolutely soaked, but everything else stays completely dry. Do you think the rubber trim has failed? A regular wash is fine, nothing gets in from that. My car is a 2006 B6 with about 97k on it. It's weird.
