Ford Excursion :: Warn Hub Installation?

I'm running out of light and I need to find the Warn Hub installation thread.

View 5 RepliesI have a 01 f250 v10 4x4 ... My stock hubs squeak non stop when they are engaged. I want to get a set of warns.
I am going down to napa tomorrow, looking for a detailed link, or instructions of how to install these things? i have searched but just keep coming up with people raving about how great warn hubs are!
Do I need any special tools, do I need to grease the new ones before installing?
I bought a 2001 Excursion Ltd 4 years ago. A previous owner put Warn Premium hubs on it, which I would have eventually done myself.
I got stuck a couple of weeks ago and tried to use my 4wd. Nothing.
A friend suggested I replace the Transfer Case Motor as it can go out if you don't use it. I got that done today but I still don't have 4wd.
I can hear the transfer case shift and see the drive shaft spinning, but the front tires don't spin.
I thought it was the PVH solenoid, but discovered the Warn locking hubs don't use the vacuum and it has been disconnected/plugged.
Trying to get myself up for the install of my RAS!
Have to finish watching the first set of games tho. (NFL Sunday Ticket)
Or to put it another way - Yet another Hadley air horn installation. First up made a mounting bracket for the horns......to mount them on the frame. Then another bracket to mount the air tank, wiring and compressor. Finally fitted an illuminated switch to change from OEM horns to the Hadleys. This switch illuminates dimly with the parking lights and brighter when switched to the Hadleys.
View 12 RepliesWith snow on the ground all winter here (usually), and the summers getting into the 90's I was thinking about getting a remote start system. I know Viper is the big name but I just want something to start it, not do a bunch of prima donna functions I don't need. I normally do everything myself but electrical is not my forte and I hear that a DIY person can't get much info because they think only installers should do it. Also from what I gather, it takes a relay due to the transponder key. I am thinking $200 max and I hear Best Buy can do it all.
View 14 RepliesWell I have my new 8.5x20 trailer on order that has electric brakes and I'm looking to install a brake controller. I don't like how cheesy all the aftermarket ones look and love fords factory controller and upfitter switches. Looking for info on swapping these in the excursions and had it working? I've looked on the net for this mod and came up with nothing.
View 14 RepliesI am i the process of installing a F-650 dash kit. I am going to relocate my DP tuner to a location next to the power source to the right of the heat/ac control section. I am going to cut out a section for the mounting bracket. My questions are:
1: What's directly behind that section?
2: If there is something directly behind it, can I remove just the front section of the dash or do I have to remove the entire dash from the windshield?
I am going to have to remove something anyways for the lower kit to be installed.
I picked up an 02 ex value xlt with out the rear heat i was wondering if any of you have installed it in a truck that never had it. i work at a scrap yard as a mechanic and will hopefully have a truck come in with the parts i need, what it all entails. Any headliner out for some odd reason maybe you could snap a photo of the piping.
View 14 RepliesI am considering converting my Ex to a dually. I have located a 2006 dually rearend with the same gears as my rear. My Ex is a 2004 4X4 so I am interested in how easy the physical installation would be to put the 2006 rear in a 2004 Ex.
View 14 RepliesI recently bought an 01 Excursion Limited 4wd 7.3L diesel. I have several projects I want to do so this. I would like to add the auto headlights Ive seen on other trucks.
View 14 RepliesI just ordered a ford center jump seat and was looking for some type of instructions for removing the arm rests on the captions chairs. I have herd of others just cutting them off, but was looking for a way to salvage them in case I cant live without all my cup holders.
View 6 RepliesRoutine maintenance gone wrong.
Installing rear brake line and failed to put on the rear washer and stripped out the bolt hole mostly. Will still unscrew and screw back in but not enough to stop a slow drip. Is there an easy repair or time for a new caliper? Thread tape is not brake fluid resistent.
If no repair, what brand should I go with? Are they all similar or MC better? Can get Fenco for $50 and MC for $100. A1 Cardone and ACD for about $75.
My reverse camera goes over the mirror, its a mirror when not in use and a camera when in reverse. The way this one is set up, the camera taps switched 12 volts at the rear of the car (tapped trailer connector for these) and the video signal runs forward (ran under headliner to center console to mirror). The monitor needs 12 volts, ground, and + 12 volts when I shift into reverse. I just read a half dozen threads where people suggested tapping into a black wire with pink stripe in the driver's kick panel. Just checked, no such wire on mine. I do not want to run a wire back from the taillight, this seems backwards since the power goes from the front of the truck to the reverse light in the taillight I just need to find the right wire. I checked the reverse relay and the fuse in the fusebox and they are both 12 volts when the truck is on, so they must be prior to the reverse switch.
View 14 RepliesI just bought a 2002 Excursion limited. It has a tiny flip-down screen in the roof and a VHS player in the back of the center console. I would like to install a larger-screen flip down DVD system, but do not want to chop things up. In other words, what options are out there for a stock-appearing setup with larger screen?
View 6 RepliesOK I am pretty sure my warn locking hub is shot. I put it in the lock position and I can still turn my u joint by hand. I got the cap off and the otter metal ring out. There was No inner snap ring to take out. So now it should Just come out right?
View 5 RepliesThe left Warn Premium hub has started rotating out of the Free setting, this seems to happen at or near highway speeds. A tell tale sound is then produced, I assume from the splines contacting. It does not rotate all the way to lock. There seems to be less resistance on this side now than the other when locking. Hubs have been installed for 3.5 years, problem started a few days ago, haven't been locked in a couple months.
We've had torrential rains for the past week with no end in sight due to the tropical storm bearing down on us so I figured I'd ask here first before pulling the hub in the rain (no garage).
It's my first post on here, so here it goes: I just bought a '03 Jetta TDI, it's been great and I love it, but I noticed that there is no light on the dash or any chime if no seat belts are worn.
View 6 RepliesMy Gen I Prius is screeching at me with the BRAKE and ABS lights on, and I hear the electrically actuated pump pulsing as it tries to get pressure into the system. The pedal is spongy and will go all the way down, with the right amount of exerted pressure from my foot.
View 6 RepliesI have aftermarket wheels and the tire pressure sensors have been transferred over. Since I went from the stock 17" wheels to 20" wheels, I had to increase the tire pressure from 32 to about 38.
1) I'm assuming that since the pressure is now higher with the 20" wheels, the tire pressure sensor won't warn me unless it drops below a really low level (maybe somewhere around 28 psi). Is there any way I can set a higher threshold so that they come on at around 36 psi?
2) The tire shop that installed the wheels transferred over the sensor, but I'm not sure if they actually work since the warning light has ever came on. Do I need to take the car to the dealership for them to start working again?
Based on the my research, some people are saying that only the dealer can reset the TPS so they can start working again. Others are saying that I can reset it myself, but does this reset actually raise the threshold?
I recently bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The other day I noticed when I opened my door and the keys were still in the ignition, it either did not beep at all to warn me or only beeped once very briefly. I am almost certain I recall it beeping constantly until I pulled the keys out of the ignition. This feature has saved me from locking my keys in my car a few times and would like it to work again.
There are no other issues that I have had with the car, the ignition works fine as well as everything else.
