So, my mirror fell out. What is the trick to keep all those wiggly things lined whilst trying to reattach?

View 8 RepliesSo like the title implies my rear view mirror fell. The metal piece was included. I am guessing it got too how Inside the truck causing the adhesive too quit. My question is there any special adhesive I should get or will super glue work?
View 6 RepliesI have a 2006 F250 and the other morning I came out and found the rear view mirror laying on the cab floor. No biggie, I'll just glue it back on. Then I noticed the small black decal looking thing on the inside of the windshield. My question is, does this have to come off in order to re-install the mirror with standard Permatex mirror adhesive, or do I just put adhesive on top of it? Also, is there a different, specific adhesive used here that won't crack the windshield 2 weeks from now, like I read. Took a closer look and realized they used a thin adhesive patch to attach the mirror. I'll get one from the dealer.
View 3 RepliesToday my excursion left rear window came off the track and felled all the way down. I finally got the window back up and into the holders that the glass set in. What do I use to glue or what holds the window in? A friend used JP weld but that didn't work for too long.
View 2 RepliesSo I noticed a while back when I bought this car that my driver's side side-view mirror was a little loose. I didn't think anything of it back then b/c it still worked fine. Then just a couple of weeks ago the driver's side side-view mirror fell & hung by the wires connected to it. I can put it back to how's is supposed to be but it's really loose now. So I looked at the plastic pieces that hold this thing in place and I saw this:
If I put it back where it's supposed to be it stays up there but is very loose!
There is a small crescent shape of clear mirror on the top middle of my mirror. I think the dimming "juice" has been compromised. Am I SOL or is there a way to fix it? What vehicles are interchangeable and is there a mirror that's better that I could swap in?
View 10 RepliesI cannot figure out how to get the bulbs out of the visor mirror. Replacing these? Banging my head against the steering wheel in frustration.
View 2 RepliesI have a new set of towing mirrors for my beast and also a set of the LED smoked signals. It appears that the old ones just "pop" off but I would like to know for sure.
View 3 RepliesMy auto dimming rear view mirror doesn't work for squat. I've found simple replacements but didn't know if others have found for replacing, working around, upgrading, etc.
View 11 RepliesMy 2003 has the tow mirrors. When using the power mirror control they seem to go opposite of what is intended. So when I want it to go up, it will go out and down. Or something to that effect. What the culprit could be?
View 1 RepliesBrake pedal was going to the floor. Plenty of fluid in Master Cylinder.
Pulled both front wheels off to find no sign of any leaks anywhere. High and dry all around.
Metal lines look like new the length of the car. No rust, no sign of any leakage. Clean and clear all around (this is a southern car).
Didn't pull the rear tires off, but just by rubber-necking with a flashlight, all dry back there, too.
So I removed the bottom bolt on both front calipers and swung them up out of the way.
Then I started pumping the brakes to see if the pistons moved.
Two rounds of about 6-7 pumps of the pedal, and nothing. No movement.
Third round, shocked to see both pistons came nearly all the way out!!!! In fact, when I touched them, they wobbled. They were hanging by a thread.
So I tried using a C-Clamp and old brake pad combo to try to push the driver's side piston back in.
But the (fairly large) C-Clamp wouldn't open quite enough, and unequal pressure was applied to the face of the piston.
Next thing I knew, the whole thing exploded with the piston falling out, and all the fluid gushing out to the ground.
Should I just pull the passenger side piston off now, too? And let that fluid also gush out? (all this fluid is pretty much original from the factory, so it's old fluid anyway.
Do I just place the piston back into the bore, refill, and bleed? The piston just sits in there loose like that with only the rubber seal holding it in??? Or are these calipers history?
What about the pads and discs? Some of the fluid got on the bottom half of the disc and one of the pads. Just wash it off with brake cleaner and let dry prior to reinstall?

I had a small pin fall out from under the dash today in my 2000 F150 today, I was shifting the truck into park when it came out and hit me in the foot. It is turned down on one end and knurled on the other end. Now the shifter feels sloppy front to back and when at rest in park the shifter is almost against the dash, where I should start to look for this? Or do I just start taking it apart until I find a hole with no pin in it? So far it is still shifting and tight as far as what gear its in but goes way too close to the dash.
View 2 RepliesRusted dipstick tube I thought was going to be an easy enough fix. Broke off clean at the block. Tried for hours, easy out, prying, vise grips anything I could think of. Well I tried to pry the side of the tube over to make room for my needle nose vise grips, and boom. Down in the oil pan it goes.
Do you think theres any way possible I can fish it out through the drain plug. I really dont want to pull the darn motor.
i was driving home and i heard a loud bang, next thing i noticed was the window fell all the way down and wont come back up. I hear a slight clicking sound when i press the window button, but nothing happens...maybe a broken regulater???? how much do these cost? can i fix it on my own?
View 14 RepliesBad news: Radiator fan fell off while driving tore up fan blades. It is going to take them a week to get the parts!
Good news: My extended warranty is good for 10 more days! So the fan and fan clutch need replaced.
Should I insist that they replace the serpentine belt that rubbed on fan (50,000 miles on belt, original belt) and the water pump? It put a good dent in the radiator but didn't puncture it.
Just a quick question, my serpentine belt fell off while driving on the freeway today and wondering what are the possible causes for this too happen? First things that came too mind were tensioner or worn out belt. Hard to believe the belt would be worn out though as it only has 65k miles.
View 7 RepliesI have 1996 Ford F-250 that I just put a axle in that came out of a 2003 Ford F-350 this week. I test drove it today and my locking hub fell out of the driver side. I looked for it but couldn't find it. I drove home and the ring fell off of the passenger side from driving it back but the hub hadn't fallen out yet. what can I do to keep the hubs from falling out...
View 9 RepliesI would like to know if i am the only one that had that problem... a few weeks ago, I had to stop and get the truck towed to the dealership and they told me that my engine was shot. Then they told me it was a glow plug that fell inside the cylinder... didn't know it was possible but any way it was under warranty.
Last Monday they asked me to bring all my service receipt and that ford is asking them to take the engine apart and study it before they would ship a new engine... Are the trying to get away from paying it under warranty? The truck is 2011 with 80000 km (50000 miles).
My Bump Stops have completely dry rotted and fell off the truck. I have an 08 with a 2 inch leveling kit, I already did all the body bushings, as they disintegrated as well. Should I bother replacing them? I highly doubt that I would ever bottom out that bad that I would need them?
If I should replace them, then where did u guy's get them and should I go with the Neoprene like I did with the body bushings?

View 6 RepliesOn my way home from picking up or new Voltage 5er, I could hear a loud squealing noise when we pulled up to the house. After crawling around the under side of the truck I found the last exhaust thermal couple had either blew out or just fell out.
