View 6 RepliesI have a 2000 ford excursion V10 . When I turn the key I get a rapid flashing theft light. No check engine light or engine light. I have check all my fuses in the vehicle unless there are hidden ones. My code reader and my tuner says no connection. They do power up but it just can not link. I did jump the relay for my pcm. Then my pats light does its check and shuts off then I get my check engine light comes on and does not shut off. I did get one code the P1000 code and the vehicle still will not start. As soon as I put my really back in the pcm it goes directly back to the way it was. So my thought is that my PCM is not powering on. What can cause this?
View 6 Repliesfirst thing i noticed was trying to start it the theft light was flashing fast but wasnt cranking. Heard a relay click a bunch of times when going on and off. I'v tried to testing fuses and relays all seem good. Battery is brand new and working. Nothing works, no lights, wont unlock from remote. moving soon and we need to get this thing running. 6.8 gas excursion....

I did notice that the theft light is not flashing this time. Truck acts as if its not in park. I have wiggled the shifter, and even tried to start it in neutral with no luck. Im really thinking that it has something to do with the anti theft/PATS system.
Car wont start and antitheft light flashes 3 minutes later light goes off car starts.
View 1 RepliesMy "Theft" light on my 2005 Ford Escape is flashing and I cannot start the Escape.
1. I tried the key that I had been using successfully for the last 7 years. , car did not start, Theft light blinked. ,
2. Tried wife's dealer key, Car won't start, theft light blinks.
3. Tried various things, such as manual locking & unlocking, turning alarm beeping on/off, disconnecting battery, etc. Nothing works.
Called the dealer, they say they know nothing. Must bring car in, they say. Basically I am screwed and now must spend big bucks to take it the dealer because of Ford's software bug.
My 2000 Explorer overheated and I had water pump and intake manifold replaced.. then it had a freeze plug rust out and its replaced, I'm holding water.. but now it just wont start.. we've tried everything from changing fuel injectors, fuel delivery unit on intake, now the fuel pump is changed.. still wont start and the theft light is flashing fast.. my dad changed computers while I was out of town,, is it the theft device or does the computer need coded for this explorer?? we have taken negative off battery but nothing.. And if I change the motor will that work or still not run because of theft light or computer??
View 3 RepliesMy alarm and lights started going off one night. By the time I got to it, everything stopped. When I tried to start the next morning, I got nothing. After several tries, horn and lights started again. The only way to stop it was to disconnect battery.
One person told me that it was the key or the ignition not recognizing the key. I was then told that my truck, 97 f150, had no chip in the key so the problem was the computer.
I replaced my computer with a refurbished one. Once I hooked up the battery, the horn was still going, lights flashing and theft light still blinking. Also, not sure if its related, but when I try to use the key in the passenger door it turns, but there is very little resistance and the door does not unlock.

My Ex died on me last night while driving at 70mph, and wouldn't start again, it was turning over fast but not firing and I noticed the theft light flashing fast. After about half an hour it then allowed the car to start, I drove for about 5 minutes then it died again, and I had to call a recovery truck to get home.
It showed a code of P1260 Theft detected. The Ex is now running and starting ok, but I want to find or fix the problem so I'm not left stranded again (and I had my Wife and kids with me too)
I only have one key at the moment, and being in the UK, none of the dealers here will touch the Ex, so I'm thinking of bypassing/deleting PATS if possible?
I've now read tons of stuff on the internet, and some say that programmers like SCT can delete PATS or custom tune builders can delete it too - I was going to get a custom tune at some point anyway, so if it is possible, I'd like to get one asap and delete PATS at the same time?
Is there anything I should be checking in the meantime? Like replace a relay, check wires? I did the same when I first bought the Ex about 8 months ago, but at the time I thought it was the fuel pump, so did the hutch tank mod and checked the whole fuel system etc, and it hasn't done it since so I thought it was fixed....
We bought it and the dude that owned it cut the radio wires and messed with the wiring everywhere because he thought he had a short. I've hooked up the radio and everything and it does the same thing. How do I bypass to make it stay running.
View 10 Replies01 F150. Cranks but no start, will fire with starter fluid spray. Theft light fast flash, Check engine light on. Only have one key and don't know what the kid that had owned has done.
View 5 RepliesHow to reset the Anti Theft on my explorer? The light is flashing fast and the engine won't start. Without the anti theft being reset the truck won't start. Been checking around to find an answer but can't find one...
View 7 RepliesAfter installing two new batteries, a new alternator and removing the auto start system still having the same problem. It sometimes wont start. It will turn over but wont fire. If the theft light keeps blinking it wont start. Other times no blinking light and it fires right up. What to check next.
View 14 RepliesMy son has been using my old X to commute to local university. Today he drove off as usual but when he tried to start truck to come home he got a slight crank but then it shuts off or dies. The engine will start to crank over but gets about a quarter turn and stops. All electrical accessories work, battery gauge is in normal 13V indication. New starter 4 weeks ago replaced battery at same time (Wal-Mart warranty exchange). Is a 6.8L Gas with 370,000 miles. Consistant service. Oil coolant good. I replaced starter solinoid by battery today did same thing.
Theft light is flashing when key goes in ignition (weird) goes off as you try to turn it over. Have tried putting it in neutral and park to start. 1/4 tank of gas feul pump replaced two years ago. Last time starting problem about three years ago was solenoid replaced crank sensor at time from bogus forum diagnosis. thats about all the info I have. Hooked up OBDII no codes being thrown.
I have a 2000 EX V10 100K miles. Saturday my anti theft light started blinking rapidly and the truck would turn over but no fuel. No check engine light. Fires up if I use starter fluid. I have read online alot about PATS systems and keys so I tried my extra key.... Did not work. I am planning to try syncing the key with the truck again today. Whats next? I checked all fuses twice. I saw somewhere about the ECM? Might have an issue?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2001 F150 4.2 V6. Three days ago, I noticed the Theft light blinking while driving. At first, there was no issues with performance, although the blinking was most noticeable just as I tapped the accelerator at cruising speed.
I thought it may temporarily disconnect the battery, which I did. After hooking it back up, I went for a test drive. About five miles into the drive I picked up an intermittent, though somewhat steady skip--almost like a plug wire. Shortly thereafter, the flashing light returned.
I'm not sure if the two problems are connected (the light and skip) or if it's just a coincidence.
I have an 03 excursions with 6.0. I downloaded the sct livewire ts and the problem started. Through truck has no power the thief light flashes codes for cam and crank sensor and on when it acts up the glow plug light comes on. On the on the ts monitor it says no key in the ignition.
View 11 RepliesHopped in the truck for a test spin, and then CEL came on, and the OD off light started flashing. Just my luck. Used my SCT ExCal2 to read the codes and got a P0740 (TOR CVT CLT CIR), P0743 (TOR CVT CLT SYS ELEC FL). Had ZERO time to deal with fixing the problem before leaving for the trip. Trans doesn't sound funky, and shifts into OD just fine. So off I went, with fingers crossed. Fortunately, everything went A-OK.
A little hard shift from first to second, but other than that, everything seems "normal" but I'm still concerned. I have a week before I have to do the 900 mile trek back north, but the local Ford dealership is COMPLETELY unwilling to steer my in the right direction to fix the problem myself. They act as if the codes are some kind of trade secret and politely told me to go jump in a lake.
My 2002 v10 4x4 with 103k is parked in my garage overnight so its toasty when i leave the house. But I've noticed when it sits out in the cold all day i'll get a intermittin ABS light. i left work one day at the first stop light i had a flashing ABS light. once the light turned green it went away and the system worked fine.
Last night the truck sat out in 5F weather, i remote started it so it was warm inside.. I left home and noticed about a mile down the road the ABS light came on and the speedo dropped, this lasted about 2 sec then came back no issue after that and the abs system is working just fine.
So, my question is what sensor would it be? I'm not 100% on how it works with the excursion. i know my explorer has a sensor in the rear axle and 2 sensors up front. i have not tryed pulling a code as the light doesn't stay..but i may throw the OBD2 reader in the console so i can try to catch it next time?
On the way home tonight, the O/D light started flashing. I happened to have the Bluetooth OBD adapter with me, so I plugged it in and opened Torque. It comes up with a "pending" code of P0743. After a little bit, the light quit flashing so we drove the last mile home. The O/D light began flashing again the last couple hundred feet before our driveway. There didn't seem to be any loss of power or anything like that the whole time.
After we got the kids to bed I went back out to check the fluid level. (It had cooled some, so I let it run a bit before I checked it - the light wasn't flashing this time.) The level is at the second dot, right below the crosshatch. It's almost transparent, but I don't know when it was last flushed (if ever). From what I've seen on here, I'm guessing this is an electrical short somewhere?
The Battery Light flashes on 2002 excursion 7.3l. I have been having a problem for several months, one of the batteries ended up being shot, alternator checks out. Problem is there is nor rhyme or reason as to when or if the light will flash, it is not consistent with a shorted wire that is bouncing around and grounding out.
