Ford Excursion :: Stock Radio Amplifier Lost Volume?

May 31, 2012

The stock radio in my 2003 X seems to have lost a lot of volume. I assume there is a stock amplifier but where it would be. Is it internal to the radio? I did check all fuses that were related to the radio.

Ford Wiring/Electrical :: 2001 F150 - Stock Radio Volume Not Increasing Beyond A Certain Point

I took a ten hour drive to see about a parts car for a car I'd like to restore and on my way there and back I noticed my stock radio (with CD player) that came with the truck would not increase in volume beyond a certain point. At its peak it was about one-third of what it should be despite the meter being all the way to the far right.

As I drove along for hours, I noticed a couple of times that the volume would come and go.It would be itself momentarily then go back to almost nothing. Also, when I first start the truck, there is a short popping sound hailing from the speakers. For what it's worth, the CD player stopped reading CDs a ways back.. Does any radio manufacturer out there make a radio/CD player for this model that just slips right in without any cutting or looking aftermarket?

Ford Excursion :: Amplifier Install Complete Diagram?

I've got 2 amps/ subs I'm trying to install. I've got a couple of questions. How have you ran your power cable? Is there an opening or access that is pre-existing or did you have to drill an area in the firewall? With the factory head unit, which wire do I need to tap for the turn on wire? Also, just a side note. The second row headrests have been replaced with monitors which I plan on removing. I'm assuming they have some type of power cables already ran for them? Would they have the turn on wire as well? I haven't had time to see how they're wired up yet. If the wires are large enough I may just add a fuse in-line and call it a day. I guess it depends on how they are wired in. But if I can use the pre-existing wires there for either the power or the turn on wire it would make the install a lot easier.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2013 - AM Radio Volume Goes Up And Down On Its Own

I have a 2013 F150 King Ranch pretty well loaded up. In the last several thousand miles (I have approximately 45,000 miles on it), the AM radio, which I listen to a lot, has the volume go up and down on its own. Very annoying. i took it to the dealer to have it analyzed and fixed and after 3 days, came back and said Ford said to start w replacing antennas (all) @ a tune of approximately $450, WITH NO GUARANTEES! Unbelievable! Then it that didn't work, replace the radio.

Well in reading some forums, it appears this has been going on a long time and it appears that Ford doesn't seem to care. This is the first Ford I've owned and I as a business owner, have owned many, many Chev PU's over the years with no problems. My 2010 Suburban doesn't have this problem w twice the miles.

Ford Audio/Video System :: 2003 - Way To Update Stock Radio With OEM?

Looking to upgrade it with an AUX input (from an iPhone), and with an integrated Sirius radio.

I prefer the look of OEM. Can I simply replace the radio with a newer OEM unit that has these features, or is it more complicated than that? If I can replace it with an OEM unit, which one?

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1998 XL - Radio Volume Doesn't Adjust

I picked up a nicely used 98 XL in Alabama yesterday, with 106k original miles. The dealer threw in FREE oil changes for life with my purchase, but I don't see me driving 2.5 hours to Alabama for that.

It's got crank up windows, manual locks, standard tranny, 4.2 V6, and the regular seats. Yep, pretty basic. It came with a matching fiberglass shell also. The only things wrong are the radio volume doesn't adjust, and the rear window frame appears cracked. These are minor in my opinion.

What drew me to this truck was the beautiful condition it's in and my love of this body style. What would be added to improve creature comforts, performance, etc.

Passat (B6) :: Radio Volume Fade Up And Down

My radio in the B6 seems to be acting strange...... I'll have the volume at a set level and it will fade up and down, like the volume is being ever so slightly raised and lowered. I thought at first it was some sort of speed-volume control but it fades up and down for no apparent reason. I have the in dash 6-cd changer with the XM built in.

Golf V R32 :: Radio Volume Changes After Restart Of Car?

Whenever I turn my car off with the radio on, then turn the car back on, the radio is never at the same volume. It is normally quite louder than I would like when just sitting down and getting situated. This is petty, and my only quip with the car. Just curious if they are all like this. I didnt find anything in the manual, and I know I can contact my dealer, but I thought I would ask here first, we are the ones that drive these cars everyday.

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Radio Volume Too Low

2011 Limited with Navigation .... Supposedly a 360 or 380 watt stereo.

When streaming from my phone, it's great, using Sirus/XM, it's terrible. I called Sirus/XM, no luck there. I've asked the dealer about it several times over the last 3 years, no luck.

Has any found if there are Line Level input settings hidden that can be adjusted? Since it's loud enough when Streaming, that seems to be the issue. I really don't want to buy an amp, etc. I'd be happy with the volume level I get when streaming if it was that loud with Sirus/XM...

We had to replace our radio and the new one the volume would not work just driving down the road. Dealer has been great in working with us, got us a second new radio and it is having the same issue. Also the second new radio will not change FM/AM stations, doesn't matter which station you switch too it stays on the first station when you originally turn on the car.

Mitsubishi - Montero :: Radio Changes Volume By Itself While Moving

We have a 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero (not sure the current equivalent in US, it used to be the Montero but I think they have since discontinued it). It's a great car. One rather annoying issue we are having with it at the moment...

The radio changes volume by itself. It goes up, it goes down, all on it's own without any input from us. Here are some observations:

- Only happens when the car is in motion, at a stand-still it is fine.
- Only happens when listening to radio, not CD player or DVD player.

The car does not have a "knob" for the volume, it is just buttons (rules out potentiometer thingy)

There are steering wheel controls, but the fact that the volume changes only happen when listening to the radio, and not CD, make me believe it's not those. Same with speed-sensitive volume controls. We have turned those off in the settings and it still does the same. Even with them on or off, the CD volume works as expected.

Santa Fe (DM - 2013+) :: Radio Stuck At Low Volume

I could barely hear the radio and the volume was not working. A couple of days later, the display screen (GPS, Radio, ...) would not come off after I turned car engine off. The battery discharged as a result. When attempting to start the car, lots of clicks were coming off the fuse box under the hood.

My solution: I removed the negative on battery and put it back; now everything is back to normal.

Here is my 2004 Excursion PSD. The X was already lifted when we bought it, but I'd love to return it to stock ride height or near stock w/ the larger tires on 16's. So, not having been around 4x4's for long, how the heck do I figure out how it was lifted? Shackles, different springs, who knows??? Basically is just too much of a PITA not fitting into car washes and not being able to fit it in my garage for repairs.

I know 4" is still good, as that is what my 05 had. Just curious about my 00. Locally a guy is selling a pair of fab tech 5.5" front leaf springs. Just curious if I went that high if the stock drivelines would survive? We do not have a driveline shop on the island, so I would like to go as high as I can, without modding the drivelines. If 4" is all, that's fine. Just curious!
