Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Oil Pan Threads Pulled Out

Went to do my first oil change last night. Removed the horribly over tightened oil filter with out issue. We to pull the drain plug out of the oil pan and could not get to budge. Got a bigger breaker bar and got it out. Plug came out with about half the threads of the pan stuck in the bolt threads. Bolt must have been tongued to 100+ foot pounds. Got a new oil pan on order with dealer think i will have to cover cost since i was doing my own oil change.

Truck is a 2016 f250 6.7L.....

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Steering Box Sheared Off At Threads?

The 2 of the 3 screws holding my steering box on just sheared off at the threads when I was pulling into my parking spot. My steering has been stiff only when turning left and only when going slow for a couple weeks now. I've seen many posts on this, it seems the steering gear is mostly to blame.

But how would a bad steering gear cause the bolts to break? It must be binding on the steering somewhere else, right?

When I first started getting the stiff steering, I really thought it was my u-joints, the left front started making noise when I'm in 4x4. But when I jacked up the wheel, I could turn the u-joint freely when the wheel was at full lock. After that, I decided I was going to order a Redhead steering box, but now I'm not sure!

Toyota - Corolla :: 2002 - Tighten Spark Plugs To Same Torque Specifications As Regular Plugs

I am changing my own spark plugs for the first time. I have a spark plug wrench, dielectric grease, anti-seize compound etc.

I have a Haynes manual for my 2002 Toyota Corolla. The book was written before Irridium plugs were used. Should I tighten the spark plugs to the same torque specifications as regular plugs? The book says 158 inch pounds. How do I know I have tightened them to the right amount?

How do I avoid cross threading the spark plugs? What happens if you cross thread the spark plugs (assuming the car seems to be running fine)? Would I need a new engine or expensive repair when it is time to replace the spark plugs again?

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2000 F450 - Rear Axle Assembly - Hub Retainer Threads On Housing Are Stripped

I have a 2000 F450, 7.3, 4x4, dually, VIN 1FDXF47F0YEA44380, with 30k miles, That needs a new rear axle - hub retainer threads on axle housing are stripped (nut welded on by previous owner). This axle is a case ID F81A-4001-BK, 4.88 ratio, 11.25 ring gear, with a 41.5" spring center. I have heard that the '99-'02 axles had issues until Ford switched over to the later square housed axles in 2002 or 2003 (Dana 110, I think). Is it possible to adapt these later (2002- 2004) axles onto a 2000 F450? And if so, what would be involved?

Dodge - Grandcaravan :: 2000 - Oil Pan Drain Plug - Threads Can Become Stripped?

I have a 2000 Grand Caravan and had a Chrysler dealer change the oil in July....just took it in today for another oil change and they told me the oil drain plug just turns - either the plug is stripped or the threads on the pan are stripped....I said that they were the ones who changed the oil last time so if anything happened then they did it....they are saying that over time the threads can become stripped - suggesting that if the threads on the oil pan are stripped then I will have to buy a new oil pan.....I said that I had not touched the oil pan so if something is wrong then they are responsible - the threads don't just strip themselves.

Touareg :: Driving In Deep Sand

I decided to take the day off and run out to Melbourne Beach...there are a couple of places off A1A with beach access - but there is some mighty deep sand too...
I locked the differential, jacked it up and turned off the ESP...didn't have any problems at all - but there was a moment...

I guess that the best advice for getting through sand is to keep up your momentum and turn in little bits. I guess I could have deflated the tires a bit, but I'd like your opinions...

Gen 2 Prius :: Sand And Gravel Sagging Down From The Side Of The Car

I feel like I am caring around a couple of hundred extra lbs. of sand and gravel around all the time. There are two about 4' long panels under my car that are so full of sand and gravel you can see them sagging down from the side of the car. I took one of them off (not a breeze to do) and cleaned it out and put it back on and it just filled up with sand again. I live 2 miles off of the black top road and that is all it takes. I have tried to wash them out with some success but the panels still sag down. I have thought of taking sheet metal screws and caulking and screwing it up tight but no telling what I might run a screw through.

Oldsmobile - Cutlass :: Odd Sound Like Sand Is In The Engine

My wife's car is making a odd sound. I think it may be the timing belt. Her car is a 1999 Olds Cutlass v6 and I don't know if it has ever had its timing belt replaced. I can't tell from her records. So what kind of a timing belt does this vehicle have? How many miles before it should be replaced? The last question is, if she keeps on driving it, what it the worst thing that can happen?

Toyota - Sienna :: Get Rid Of Sand Like Crystals From Valve Cover Where Oil Is Added?

This is regarding a strange occurrence in my wife's 2004 Toyota Sienna. We took her van on a 7,000 cross-country journey in June and July of this year, right in the middle of the heat wave. I used synthetic oil, 5W-30 as recommended by Toyota, and everything seemed to be fine. The problem came after I had the oil changed by Jiffy Lube in Denver, CO before my 1700 mile trip home to Washington, DC. Jiffy Lube costs a bundle when you use synthetic so I had them put in petroleum-based 5W-30 oil, knowing I would change it when I got home. During trip home (850 miles/day) I passed through temperatures as high as 110 degrees. When I got back and went to change the oil I noticed what looked like sand in the valve cover area where oil is added. I was able to scrape some out of it and rubbed it between my fingers, and it had the consistency of grit. My question is what is it, and should I be concerned? I changed the oil, and again used synthetic. Did the heat cause the petroleum based oil to boil and then crystallize like sugar? What can I do to get rid of it?

Toyota - Corolla - Noises :: Shifting Sand Noise While Turning?

Saw this topic addressed, but not resolved to my satisfaction, in a post made some years back by the owner of an '03 Corolla. The comments suggested a water leak was the cause. But the sound is definitely DRY (think Etch-A-Sketch vs. waterbed). And the small amount of water that is leaking on the front passenger side floor didn't start until about a month after we started hearing the noise.

My VERY amateur guess is that it is some sort of breach in the air bag system, since that's where the noise sounds like it's originating. I searched the internet and didn't find anything on this topic of a sand noise coming from the vicinity of the glove compartment. Since the local Toyota dealer service department also thinks it's a water leak (not covered by our warranty, apparently) and that it could be potentially very expensive to locate and fix....

Touareg :: Sounds Like Sand Is Hitting The Windshield When Traveling At Highway Speed

I know this will sound strange, but starting the other day, I notice that it sounds like sand is hitting my Treg windshield when traveling at highway speed. At first I thought it was coming from the truck in front of me, so I passed him, and it didn't stop. It is just about all the time now, and I cannot imagine what is causing this noise.

It is not incredibly annoying, but how will I know when I am being pelted by real sand? Any clues out there? With 48,000 miles on it, there is not much time left to get it under warranty.

Ford - Ranger :: Cylinder Misfire - Spark Plugs Keep Going Bad

I purchased a 2000 Ford Ranger last year. Within the first two months of ownership, the vehicle was having a cylinder 4 misfire. To fix it, I replaced the fuel filter, plugs, wires and cap - replacing the wires, plugs and cap fixed the issue. The issue went away for four months when cylinder 4 misfired again. I brought it to a repair shop and they again replaced the wires and plugs. The vehicle now has a cylinder 6 misfire.

There has to be something causing these plugs to continually go bad. Rather than just replacing the plugs again, I'd like to attempt to be proactive and fix the root of the issue. I've googled the issue and some of the forums seem to indicate a bad EGR valve.

Ford - F150 :: 1987 - Got Spark Through The Plugs But Won't Start

I just put an '86 5.0 engine from an F150 2wd pickup in my '87 truck of the same model. The motor was running when pulled but when I set in the '87, it won't run. I've replaced coil, distributor assembly, plugs, wires, throttle body, checked timing etc. I've got spark through the plugs and fuel in the cylinder but with no luck. Don't know where to turn next.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Oily Behind The Freeze Plugs

So I am working on my 5.4 I pulled and discovered that is is very oily behind the freeze plugs. The motor is on a stand and has been upside down a few times. There was still a little oil in it as I can see a decent puddle under it where I didn't tighten the drain plug entirely. Why would there be oil built up there? I have the two from the back of the heads out and the two on either side closest to the rear of the block. What kind of issue am I looking at? Here is the build thread that I am doing about the truck and this motor.
