Is the Excursion 3rd brake light from the F250/350 pickups like the rest of the truck... Or is it from an E-Series van like the tail lights?
In either case, is there a unit that has both the brake light and a bed/cargo area light? My rear window is tinted and I'd like to put a little light up high while I'm backing up... Just a little.
I really don't want to drill a bunch of holes for auxillary lighting, especially up high.
I just had a remote start installed with a turbo timer that works off of the parking brake being engaged. No matter how hard I press it the light does not go on, however when the installer probed the sensor to ground it, it worked fine.What part this is that needs to be replaced. The stealership quoted me at 200 something for a whole parking brake assembly.
View 14 RepliesA few weeks back, I noticed my driver side fog light housing broke. Granted the fog lights arent that bright anyways, I was thinking of replacing them with a light bar. Could I have the light bar wired up the same way? Would having a bar there cause the engine/tranny to overheat?
View 13 RepliesI have a 2011 Hyundai Elantra with 170,000 miles on it. The Navigation display is toast and I am not going to be buying a new one. The car will be out the door when/if it makes it to 250k miles. I want to simply go to eBay and buy a used unit from a totaled Hyundai Elantra and just use that. Connections look the same except there are not jacks for a couple of the plugs that are on the Navigation unit. Those are obviously meant for the navigation display and the back-up camera, which I will lose by going to the regular audio/bluetooth unit. The navigation has always sucked anyway, so I don't care about that. I just want to be sure that the bluetooth and the radio work once I switch them out. I already have the Nav unit uninstalled. The screen is busted on it.

My dealer wants to completely replace the whole tail light assembly because the rear passenger break light is out. Is this really necessary just to replace a light bulb? (2004 Prius)

I have a 2004 Eddie Bauer with 16k miles. The AC control unit has randomly gone dead twice. When I turn off the truck and let it sit for a while (20 min last time) it will come back on and work fine. I took it to the Ford dealer while it was dead so they would see it. They told me however, that if it works when I bring it back they wouldn't be able to work on it. What was the problem? I'm going to Parker AZ this weekend and Phoenix next weekend. I don't want it to be intermittent or crap out all together when I am there.
View 14 RepliesSo as of last night my radio is not cooperating. I had the battery disconnected due to other work on the Ex and now I am having radio problems. When the key is turned the radio "buzzes", from the unit itself, not the speakers. It seems as though as soon as power is applied it is trying to eject a disc but no buttons are pressed. It lasts about 15 seconds and then stops. I also have CD error showing on the display. I have read the multitude of issues with the factory head unit but hoping I can fix it, maybe CD is just stuck?

Changing 3rd brake light to an led? Im doing the led swap on all the exterior lighting but I can't seem to find a red 3rd brake light. Using the f250 3rd brake light? Is it a direct swap?
View 14 RepliesI have checked the brake fluid and recycled the emergency brake pedal and the red light in the instrument cluster won't go out. Is it possible that the problem make be the contact switch right above the emergency brake pedal? I have pushed on the switch and the light doesn't go out?
View 5 RepliesI noticed this morning that the brake light on the dash did not go out. I cycled the e-brake, checked the fluids. The fluid level is fine and I reached up and pushed in the contact switch for the e-brake and the light still didnt go out.
Driving it - no issues with braking. I know on some older vehicles, there's a proportional valve that gets stuck and can be cleaned. I'm not very familiar with this and Im not sure if it even applies to this model.
I did have the flex brake lines changed on the front because the right front was leaking and thought might as well do both.

Looking for the easiest route to get my video cable from a rear (aftermarket) flip down monitor back up to the head unit. The monitor flips down pretty much in line with the back rest of the 2nd row (for reference purposes). I am thinking to the side down the pillar and under the carpet might be the easiest.

View 14 RepliesI've been having a problem lately where I'm driving down the road and the brake light comes on and starts binging. I stop push the parking brake and release it a few times, then the light goes out and I'm on my way. Sometimes when I first release it the light doesn't extinguish and sometimes it is never on. I'm guessing there is a switch somewhere for the parking brake that isn't working so great. Is it around the pedal or somewhere in the brakes themselves? Is this a typical problem?

PO, had a pioneer H/U installed, however the 4 rear speakers have no sound.
The rear of the radio seems to have everything plugged into it correctly.
My steering wheel controls work fine.
I'm guessing the rear volume/controller is canceling out the rear speakers???
If so what can I do to make the speakers play? I don't need the rear control to work.
I replaced my hydroboost unit about 10,000 miles ago. Today I noticed it was wet under the unit. Only this time, it's not red PS fluid, rather, it is brake fluid. So, I assume the master cylinder is leaking and winding up under the hydroboost unit via gravity. Or at least that's my theory.
Any way Rockauto lists 2 motorcraft master cylinders.
One is BRMC-26 for Hydroboost
The other is BRMC-27 for speed control.
I have obviously Hydroboost, but also have speed control.
Found a puddle under the X last weekend. I thought it was the pan gasket when I got under her but much to my dismay, it was not. Fluid was actually seeping from between the extension unit and the tranny. Would this just be the gasket between the two?

View 2 RepliesJust having a little stereo work being done and noticed a wet floor under the insulation after removing the rear side panel covering the a/c unit. Is that normal? I read some folks have had to seal the fan box...is that most likely the issue?
