I have a Legend Ranch Hand Part# FBF991BLR front bumper. I am debating removing this as I don't really need it for my driving and the extra 450 lbs and hanging out there in the wind can't be good for the suspension and economy. Any thoughts on this? What all come off to install one of these things that I would need to replace with stock?
View 14 RepliesI noticed today my ranch hand bumped is hitting my fenders, when I originally installed it there was about a 1/2" gap.
All the bolts are tight, however it appears the mount that's attached to the frame is flexing and becoming weak as I can grab the bumper and rock it when it used to be rock solid.
Is there anything I can buy that will reinforce the bumper mounts that are connected to the frame to support this bumper???
Right now it's bolted up with 4 bolts on each side and no additional hardware.
Is there a source for a insert for the tow hooks & between the fog lights?
View 2 RepliesSo a line of panic stops on the highway last night and I lost - stopping an 8000lb rig compared to hondas, nissans, etc. Anyway I just kissed the corner of a nissan xterra and dented the steel part of my front bumper below the driver headlight. Nothing else. It is a 2002 all black limited.
I am wondering about fixing vs. buying a new bumper. A new one from the dealer is 436 and then needs to be painted.
My bumper is moving when my ex isn't parked on flat ground. Almost like the frame is twisting. Enough that it shifted up and cracked my grill. What could be going on? I didn't snap a pic but I'll try to get one. Get back on flat ground and it relaxes back to where it should be, flat and level.
View 6 RepliesI have an 07 King Ranch. I need to remove the rubber step off the rear bumper to paint it. Due to a typical Ford paint job it is rusting already. Can I just pull up on it ? If so should I wait for a warm day to prevent breaking the clips?

View 1 RepliesI have a 2000 Excursion lifted 6 inches with 35" tires on 20" Fuel wheels and i notice when I make a left or right hand turn between 10-20 mph i get a single pop or clunk from the front end.
Also one more really annoying thing while i am turning there is creaking, sounds like body flex? maybe body mounts? Any issues with ball joints?
I got a heat shield that just will not stop causing me grief. When I installed the headers and pipes I had a heat shield that was too close to the passenger side pipes. I bent it down some to clear the pipe and got rid of a nasty metallic sound I had on the throttle and making left hand turns. Well that little sound returned last week and I crawled under and looked and sure enough the heat shield was touching again.
Who knows why maybe a bit a spring sag. So yesterday I bent it down a little more. Today I start getting a nasty clunk on dips and especially when on a bump why turning. I crawl under there too look and find the same heat shield now has a huge gouge on the under side of it where the leaf spring near the rear bushing is smacking it. I'm sure Ford put it there for a good reason so hate to remove it.

Tip for searching for "how to remove ford exhaust hangers" - these items are now among my most hated items. Very easy to install with a little lube on the hanger, but removing them especially while they are installed on a the truck is a major PITA! Spent forever today trying to pry them off and it finally dawned on me how to remove them easily. Thought I would share.....use a pitman arm puller or similar puller. Mine fit perfectly and made removing several of these (more than once) much easier.
View 6 RepliesI've been using the 'special' plastic ring tool to try and separate the lines from the filter, but with no joy. I can feel the tool compress the spring(?) on both fittings, but no matter how hard I am able to pull the lines won't come off.

Some say the front drive shaft should turn by hand in 2h and some say it shouldn't.... I have an 06 FX4, with auto locking hubs (meaning if I want 4H i turn from 2H to 4H). I've been getting a terrible shake at 55mph (yes I've read the forums on that too, not my question) .
So I crawled underneath to look at rear driveshaft, u joints, etc..., and by chance I grabbed the front driveshaft to pull myself forward to check out everything else, and it didn't turn......
I twisted a little and the shafts going to both front wheels turned. Now shouldn't these turn freely in 2H?....The light to 4H never comes on when I switch it, but it is engaged (or else I'd never have gotten unstuck....several times)... Am I stuck in 4H and just didn't know? .
Just got a mild lift done on my Ex and still wanting to park it in the garage.
If I remove the useless rails and cross bars that looks like it's still a possibility.
What to fill the holes with? Just torx screws? Anything else I need to do to prevent water leakage?
My passenger side rear vent window is leaking and I was gonna redo the weather stripping but I can't figure how to release the latch from the motor. It looks like a ball and socket type connection with a little wire clip in it, but I tried pulling it out and it wouldn't come out very far, and tried pushing in in more but no luck. I don't want to break the darn thing for sure.
View 9 RepliesI have a 2001 excursion and am trying to remove the second row bench seat. How do you get to the back set of of torque screws? The front ones are easy to get to but the rear are under the seat trac and I haven't been able to get to them. I am pretty sure I am overlooking the obvious.

I guess I'm missing something very simple, but as easy as it would be to cut the old one out...how do I make room between the lower leaf and the other leaf pack to get it out?
I about hung from the lower leaf and it didn't move quite enough to give the room to remove the bumper.
I have a 2005 6.0 and a FICM tuner from PHP. I need to remove the FICM relay so I don't fry injector 1 (I think that what it is). Anyway, I've done a lot of reading and can't seem to figure out which relay it is. The instructions say the relay closest to the passenger front, but also say almost always grey. So, The grey relay is passenger toward firewall. The directions also say that the injectors will not buzz if removed. I took each out and still had injector buzz. Tried again tonight, truck is hot, just been driven. I pulled the grey relay and turned key to on. Buzzed for just a second then stopped but did the same for the other relay and same when put back in.
