So I just don't have any luck with anything turbo related. Last time it was my intercooler that went out. Now the passenger side intercooler tube keeps popping off and the damn clamp is broken so I can't tighten back up to even get me to the damn truck stop. I guess it could be worse...it could be late at night and raining...oh what, it is.
View 14 RepliesSo my wife nailed a small spike buck and he when up under the truck. On his way back, his antlers hit the intercooler. One side tube was collapsed and the other collapsed but tore open. Has to repair one the tubes and, if so, with what. I was thinking I could pull the dent out with a pick and then put some sort of epoxy over it.
View 14 RepliesMy friend is working on a 2004 6.0 F-250 and it has used 75% of the coolant in the overflow bottle in 5 days. Can't smell coolant either. The inside of the tailpipe is wet soot black and there are wet spots on the tube coming from the intercooler to the turbo at the turbo and the intercooler. He's thinking EGR cooler.
View 6 RepliesI was looking under the truck and found what appears to be a vertical black metal drain tube right next to the passenger side oxygen sensor (bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor).
I'm curious to know what this tube is for. My guesses are rain runoff / drainage for the windshield cowl, or maybe A/C condensate. Can't think of anything else it could be.
Saw a decent amount of oil residue and when I pulled the intercooler there were areas of the plastic deformed and a fairly large oil/air leak.
Truck is completely stock (93K miles) so was wondering what root cause of this might be? Just a failure of the component from age? Boost too high, suggesting an issue with the turbo?
CAC boot that connected closest to the damage may have been leaking, but not sure if that could cause that much oil spray?
I am getting water on the passenger-side floor. I would like to clean the AC drain tube but am not sure how to access it.
View 7 RepliesI recently developed a tapping/popping noise come from the passenger's side of my GLI. The noise is kind of hard to explain, it's similar to the popping sound the seats make every once in awhile when you move around in them, if that makes any sense. I can't really get a video of the sound because I don't think it's quite loud enough. It's starting to get worse, and getting aggravating. It's not coming from the seat, it's more up near the front of the car, maybe where the door hinges are? I can't really pinpoint it.
View 5 RepliesAlmost every single time I put my .:R in reverse and the car starts moving I hear a popping noise with pauses in between each pop. I think it might be a ball joint and the noise is coming from the front passenger side.
View 18 RepliesI had the struts replaced a few months ago along with the strut mounts and bearings. Since then I've developed a popping and clunking noise from the passenger side spring/mount area. I've greased it and it has quieted it down but I noticed that when the car is not moving and I turn the wheel from lock to lock that very top piece of the strut pretty sure it's called the hat moves along with the wheels while the drivers side does not. What's wrong? Is it something as simple as the nut being to lose or to tight?

My sc430 is giving a loud pop right over passenger's side from roof, whenever my car goes over a bump or rough road. I think it's where the front hardtop latches are. Only on the driver's side. It's a loud pop sound.
Does this have something to do with the latch, or latch motors, that closes the power roof ? Would it work if I tighten the retractable top by turning the rubber button in the center back of the car, the one that exposes during roof operation as outlined by other posters here?
Son's 2000 GMC Sierra, 200000 miles, 4.8L engine, automatic transmission and 4WD. Was driving home from a trip to the store - heard a "violent popping noise" on the passenger side and the truck simply slowed to a stop. Engine running fine, all sounds fine while idling. When we put it into any gear, I can "feel" it go into gear but the truck doesn't move forward or back. Just changed differential, transfer case, and transmission fluids about two months ago.
View 14 RepliesI just noticed a wire burned in half on the front side of the intercooler plenum. See picture below,
Here is the left side showing the green wire stub going into the wiring harness on the front side of the intercooler plenum,
And this is the right side showing the wire going into the air intake duct between the turbo and the air filter,
I don't think it's been in this condition very long.
Went into town earlier and the a/c was not blowing out the 2 passenger side vents. Could switch to defrost and it would blow correctly. The rear is working as well. The drivers side vents blow good and if you cover those with your hands to block them off its like it forces air to blow out the passenger vents. Could this be a blend door issue?
View 2 RepliesSo I think I'm having some issues with my front end. The passenger side seems to be roaring at certain speeds (25-40 and 80+). It's getting cold now and I still don't have much in the way of tools since the company that cleaned out our house after the fire ran off with most of them so I'm more than likely going to have to get it done at the dealership. Is it as easy of a job as I remember or am I forgetting something?

I don't really know how to explain it really. It sounds like there is a motorcycle passing me or like I have a mud tire on that wheel is all. It's normal at the other speeds, but once I hit the "sweet spot" it just drones really bad and I can't even hear the motor. The only way I know to describe it is as a roar, it's really weird.
We bought the X like almost year an a half or two years ago. Since the day we bought her shes had an exhaust leak on the pass side. Ive been a mechanic forever and it didn't bother me at purchase. Well I finally get around to it this last weekend. My son and I get to repairing her on saturday. Well we got manifold off with the intention of ordering a new set of headers. Well Luke talks me into just replacing the broken stud (got lucky only had 1 on the pass side). And replacing the gasket. So I took the manifold to get resurfaced,got the new studs and gaskets.
We reassy everything. It went well, start her up and wow shes finally quiet. I love it. So were sitting there admiring our work (took most the day as we had to drive 40 minutes away 1 way to get parts and angle drill alone). As were sitting there chattin for 5 minutes im like do you hear that.....Its getting louder luke WTF.....WELL IN 5 MINUTES THE DAMN LEAK IS BACK... It sounds like its back at the original place but while listing with a hose it sounds like its also at the y pipe. But the sound can be traveling......
I def am not a fan of Autozones felpro gaskets but they have worked in the past. But they look NOTHING like the factory units but still should work. Well I searched all weekend and read tons of posts on what to get. As I def want to replace the y pipe also. In the end said ok,what the hell. I just got off the phone with BANKS. I ordered headers,y pipe,gaskets,etc. I didnt want to spend that much but after pricing headers (from all manuf's and a new y pipe) the BANKS complete system wasn't much more...
Kit should be here tomorrow or wed at the latest. And I just want my X to be exhaust leak free. Im not big on taken pics during install of stuff but ill try and ill post up after it done.
I thought I was out of the woods on this. It looked like water was coming from the HVAC, and I haven't seen any moisture up front for a while. I did find a problem leading to the wet rear cargo area; there was a small crack in the paint on the passenger side gutter, almost back by the hatch hinge area. I noticed a pinhole sized area that appeared discolored, as though water had been involved. Sealed that with some 3M Crystal Clear sealant about a month ago, and it's been dry ever since.
Last weekend, it rained heavily, and I went out the morning after it rained and checked the passenger footwell again. Bone dry, so yippee, right? Nope. I start up and when I move, I heard water sloshing, then saw a small flood run down the carpet next to the passenger kick plate. I mopped up, but what could be holding so much water that I could hear it? Is there a tray that might be clogged under the cowl on the passenger side?
Rear passenger's side window doesn't work, everything else is OK so its not the fuse, switch, or lockout.
View 5 RepliesGot home from work last night, passengers side rear wheel was smoking, and damn hot to the touch. Drivers side rear was hot, but not as bad as passenger's side.
My first thought was worst case sceneries - wheel bearings. After getting it in the air, in neutral, I can turn the wheels, but, it takes a lot of effort. There's no grinding noises, but, it sounds like a brake is in constant contact.
I'm in the process of taking both wheels off, but, I'm leaning towards either the brakes/calipers or the ebrake dragging. It definitely smells like hot brakes, and not diff fluid.
The passenger side rear door will not open. I've tried from the outside handle, inside handle, jerking, pushing, etc. Nothing.
How in the world can I find out and fix the problem if I can't get the door open to get the door panel off??? And yes, I've tried unlocking it...
I am having a lighting issue in my ex with my passenger side headlight. when i first purchased the vehicle last august the headlight burnt out. i replaced it no big deal. it worked just fine for about 6 months and i have now replaced the bulb 3 times since. the last two times the bulb worked for about 20 minutes then went very dull. Now nothing. when i pulled this last bulb out saw a charged/burnt look to the vehicle side of the plug. What is going on and how i can fix it?
