This might be a dumb question but the light for my overdrive is blinking and it won't stop. I tried pushing the button on the end of the shifter but it still blinks. No codes are triggered. This is on my 2000 7.3l 4x4 limited. I haven't check the fluid level yet. Just got home from an exhausting trip. Here is a picture.

I have 2005 ford excursion with 24300 miles. My speedometer is not working, engine light on , abs light one, overdrive flashing. I just changed speed sensor on rearend, but my speedometer still not working.
View 4 RepliesThe problems that I am having at the moment are that the abs light is on from the speedometer, odometer, also the blinking overdrive light that comes on at around 25 mph. After some research I had purchased a ford factory sensor for the rear dif. I then replaced the old sensor with the factory one. Started the truck and not a single thing had changed, both the meters were not working as well as the od light was still flashing.

View 19 RepliesMy son has a 02 - 2 wheel driver xls. His over driver light is blinking on and off. what the problem might be? He has about an 80 mile round trip drive today before he can get it to the dealer. Would he be damaging the vehicle if he drives it that far?
View 1 RepliesMy overdrive light is blinking off and on. When I accelerate normally, the truck starts stumbling? (don't know a better word) some, sort of like a clogged air filter or fuel filter. I am going to take it to a transmission shop because its a little beyond me, but don't want to get ripped off.
View 10 RepliesSo here's the deal: My 2000 F250 has began to have the overdrive light blink when I am traveling at low speeds <40mph and it is accompanied by strange shifting (lower gear for a longer period of time). As soon as I get up to highway speeds the blinking stops and goes back to normal operation. But as soon as I go back to low speeds it happens again. When I put the truck in to park when it has the light blinking it revs it self to about 1200rpms then goes back to normal idle. This truck has 228k miles and is on the original transmission.
View 5 RepliesTook a 2 hour trip got of the interstate came to a stop light and the OD light starting blinking cut the truck off at the light fired it back up shifted in every gear like normal drove a little ways stopped at a light and OD started blinking again cut truck off back on light. Went away shifted great threw all the gears.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2000 f250 with the 7.3 and 181,000 miles on it, recently got stuck in the snow (in 2wd because i forgot to lock the hubs) and the rear wheels did alot of spinning. Now i randomly have the OD light start to blink, sometimes its a half a blink, sometimes it'll stay on for a few seconds, itll do it randomly while crusing down the road at a constant speed, also noticed my rpms fluctuate a tad at idle.
View 4 RepliesI have a '99 F250 SuperDuty Diesel with an Automatic Transmission. There is a button on the end of the gear shift which allows you to turn off overdrive -- in other words the transmission won't shift into overdrive once you press the button.
Here's my problem. I start off driving normally. I've not done nothing to the overdrive button and the truck shifts normally into overdrive. 10-15 minutes down the road, the overdrive light (which indicates the state of the overdrive button) is FLASHING. Pressing the button doesn't stop the flashing. Once this flashing starts, the only thing I notice is a much more abrupt shift from 1 -> 2 gear.
I have been having some inconsistency with my transmission in my 2005 F350. I bought it used 2 months ago and have had the low/tow overdrive light blinking. a month ago I removed the pan and changed the filter in the transmission. I had a friend run the diagnostic test and found transmission solenoid code as well as both cat. converters as well as my Number 8 cylinder misfiring... I pulled the transmission pan and filter to find what appears to be 7 solenoids? Where to start?
View 1 RepliesToday i go out and crank my truck and it fires right up. I notice the overdrive light on the shifter is flashing. It did that a few days ago but stopped within a minute or so. This time i noticed the check engine soon light was lit as well. I checked my scan gauge and it said three codes stored. The first one i looked at was P0705. The truck was running fine the whole time. I turned it off and tried to crank it again.
This time it just turned over and over but would not crank. I cleared the codes before checking the other two codes. I wish i would not have done that but I wasn't thinking straight. I tried several more times to crank but it never fired. One time it tried to but never fully did. I gave up and switched cars. I am going to try again when i get back home. What causing this?
So while driving to work I start experiencing some weird behavior with the transmission. It would shift hard and seem like it wasn't pulling hard at all. I looked down and saw the overdrive off light flashing. Got to work, turned the car off then started back up and the light was off. Any thoughts?
View 14 RepliesI changed my plugs a few days ago on my 96' Taurus GL 3.0LI checked under my hood to check the recommended gap size and it said .42 to .46.. I went with .46. after putting them in i started the car up just fine, but later in the day i noticed when I came to a stop at a red light my car would sputter and my check engine light would start blinking. When I'd accelerate and drive it again everything would clear up and the light would stop blinking. I didn't change the wires, just the plugs in case you were wondering but I am unsure of how much that would influence my problem. Today after work i had a little trouble starting my car. After a few tries it started and my exhaust smelt rich in gasoline. Did i gap them too much? Should i get new plugs again and regap them? should i buy new wires also?Is my ignition coil going bad?
View 19 RepliesAfter installing two new batteries, a new alternator and removing the auto start system still having the same problem. It sometimes wont start. It will turn over but wont fire. If the theft light keeps blinking it wont start. Other times no blinking light and it fires right up. What to check next.
View 14 RepliesSo I get in my X today and she fires right up as usual... Then the battery light started blinking then stayed on... Then I hear a click and all my stock gauges go out my window and lock switches don't work and my radio doesn't work... Battery light stays on and all signals work as do the mirrors and everything else... I turn the truck off then back on it all comes back on.. 15-20 seconds later I hear the click and all the same stuff is off again.... No seemingly applicable fuses are blown... And the behavior is repeatable...

View 1 RepliesI have a 2000 EX V10 100K miles. Saturday my anti theft light started blinking rapidly and the truck would turn over but no fuel. No check engine light. Fires up if I use starter fluid. I have read online alot about PATS systems and keys so I tried my extra key.... Did not work. I am planning to try syncing the key with the truck again today. Whats next? I checked all fuses twice. I saw somewhere about the ECM? Might have an issue?
View 14 RepliesI was driving home tonight and stopped at stop sign. I took off and truck died and coasted to a stop. I tried to start but all it does is theft light blinks really fast and will not turn motor over. I tried to reset pat by following procedure I found on internet. Still no start. I then unhooked battery cables and left off for 15 minutes then hooked up but still no start and blinking theft light. I also tried spare key and still no start. What else can I do. I had it towed to place that just bulletproof my truck. Truck has been running great. I did not want to leave it on the side off road in the middle of country all night.
View 3 RepliesThis place Michigan is now 28F and raining this morning, so road is very icy. So I was driving about 40mph and tried to stop at traffic light, of course I slid little bit then finally it worked!!!
I tried to play with snow, and tried to apply brake hard to make ABS work, it was low speed like 10~20mph, but emergency light did not blink. I guess the speed have to be more than 30 mph or something.
On my 2006 Ford F150 2WD, v6 automatic, the overdrive dash lamp is blinking, I get a engine light and the code I get is a P0743. That indicates the solenoid or wiring is bad, but everything works just fine. The transmission is running fine, clear fluid - no odor. The overdrive works and the truck shifts like new. When I start, the "OD-OFF" light immediately starts blinking and never changes. I can activate the OD normally and it doesn't effect the blinking light.
Where to start? I suspect that since all is functioning well, the issue is with the signal to the ecm? By the way, I can clear the code so that the engine light goes off, but the "OD-OFF" light remains blinking.
