View 10 RepliesSo I took my truck to get inspected/emissions done... And the emissions not ready message came back. What in the.... He said maybe put 100 miles or so on it from when I replaced the battery. Is that the answer? I've never seen such a thing.
View 14 RepliesSo Wife did this nice "How-To" for the site and then we celebrated with a trip to Steak N' Shake. Halfway there I could feel it running a little off so I pulled up the app on the phone and connected it. I pulled up the codes and this is what I got.
So am I looking at an O2 sensor you think? It's shifting early and chugging a little as well. When driving it sounds a little like I have dual exhaust or a flowmaster. When sitting still at a light there is a small bump like bass turned WAY low coming from the exhaust as well. I turned around halfway there and went home and we took the wife's Highlander
Is it possible to turn off the backup sensors on my X ?
When I am towing these things drive me nuts!
Outside backup sensors both went out on my03' Excursion, but the inside ones are still working.
View 3 RepliesJust started doing this. Sometimes I can get them to turn on in I hit the button enough. Switch going bad?
View 12 RepliesI can't find any info about this "always on" reverse light issue. My searches show that most people with the problem only have it when they put it in to revers. Mine's broken but the light is on all of the time indicating it's not working.
I can go through the sensors, but I think the system only recognizes sensor failures when the car is in reverse. What's my first/next step?
So when I put truck in reverse my back up sensors constantly beep. Not a beep beep beep like they are supposed to. More like a annoying Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep . Doesn't do this all of the time but most of the time.
View 7 RepliesMy Excursion had a mangled rear bumper when I bought it recently. I just bought a salvage one to replace it. I had it installed today. I want to salvage the backup sensors in the old bumper along with the license plate lights. How do these come out? They seem locked in there to me.
View 3 RepliesOk, so it seems I have 3 bad backup sensors on the 2002 Ex. Background information for those considering a repair:
I put the Ex in reverse, key in run and can hear "fast ticking" from only one sensor. Sensor removal is easy (at lease on the two outside sensors). Two tabs on the black housing in the bumper hold the cylindrical sensor in place. Release the two tabs and work the sensor out. I haven't tried to remove the bad inside sensor yet as there is a lot less room to work there.
Once removed, a single tab on the wiring harness connector holds the sensor in place.
Here is the problem I have. I can't get the sensor to LOCK back into the connector. I have backed the connector against the bumper and pushed on the sensor with all my strength and I cannot get it to lock back into the single tab on the connector.
Is there a trick I am missing? I am ready to try vice grips but I fear I will damage the connector.
I'd really like to add these to The Beast, but don't want to drill through chrome. My bumper has some plastic running along the top (see pic). Just looking for info for the same bumper mounted the sensors there with success.
View 9 RepliesMy 2003 F150 4.6 wouldn't pass emissions testing last week due to the OBDII not being ready to test. I knew that would happen as I had just reset the code (I get a CEL anytime after a heavy rain - I think it is a bad coil coming). After I reset and drive for a while, I don't get any codes and everything is ready but the EVAP.
I reset the computer on Friday. Let it sit overnight. Filled the gas tank Saturday. Sunday I drove a 200 mile round trip. Ran the cruise control at 60 for a good 50 miles. I did some local running around. All things that should have/could have triggered the EVAP system to run.
Where is the best place to start looking for problems? I changed the gas tank a couple years ago and I think everything is tight on it. Should I just change the gas cap in case it is the culprit?
I tried to get emission test on a 2006 f150 5.4 and they cant do the test as " OBD monitor not ready, how to do a force test or what to do.
View 2 RepliesMy 02 Ford Focus makes a racket in 5th gear. The engine sounds like it's ready for takeoff. The other gears are quiet but when I pick up speed, the noise is a steady & relentless hum.
View 7 RepliesBought a 2005 Ford Explorer XLT and 3 sensors keep going off for no reason door oil and low tire has any one or does any one know how to fix - DIY?
View 1 RepliesWhere are they located?
View 7 RepliesAs the weather has gotten colder (32F +/-2F in the morning), my car is not going into ready mode as consistently as it was in warmer months. I also notice that I have a much better chance of success of going into ready mode if I let the car "pressurize" for about 10 seconds prior to pressing the power button (pressurizing = whatever is going on when you open the driver door and you hear the electric noise of something working (brake pressurization) in the front of the car that runs for about 10 seconds).
View 16 RepliesI have a 2004 prius that sat for 2 years, I just replace a cell, worked on the HV battery and made sure it was balanced. I got the battery back in and I can't get it to go into Ready mode, I can get it to ignition on and charge the battery and into acc. I've checked several components to see if they were causing the issue.
- 12v battery is good
- brake light switch seems to be good as the lights come on when the brake pedal is pressed (but ready mode does not)
- I've checked a number of fuses
- used and obd2 adapter with torque and it is not coming up with any codes
-Edit-
- 12v battery was replaced last spring and has been maintained
I just replaced the transfer case BW 4405. And I noticed that the 2 sensors (front drive shaft and rear drive shaft) are bad. What is the name of these two sensors? I'm looking for a brand new ones...
View 13 RepliesI've replaced the rear sensor and the two front ones on my 2002 Ltd, but the lights still on! It's driving me crazy...what now?
View 7 RepliesI have a 1998 Ford Explorer 4.0 V6 with 200K miles. I plugged an OBII scanner with live data readings and my o2 sensors never relayed any information (voltage), they all ead -100% and the voltage never changed. Could all four be bad? I left the truck running for 15 minutes with the scanner attached and nothing changed.
