I know 4" is still good, as that is what my 05 had. Just curious about my 00. Locally a guy is selling a pair of fab tech 5.5" front leaf springs. Just curious if I went that high if the stock drivelines would survive? We do not have a driveline shop on the island, so I would like to go as high as I can, without modding the drivelines. If 4" is all, that's fine. Just curious!

I found front sway bar end links for 8" lift but the rear is really frustrating me
Rear lift gate refuses to stay up in cooler weather, cylinders must have leaked down.

View 14 RepliesSo this may be a really dumb question, but here goes. I have a new to me 2001 v10 gas 4x4 ex. It has obviously been lifted in the past. The springs seem totally shot as the back end is quite a bit lower than the front and drops dramatically while towing. I am adding a helwig and have a wd hitch but have not set it up yet. So my question is can i do the spring swap? It would seem that i would need to address whatever changes are made from the stock ride but im not sure. I like the current lift and would be fine keeping it and adding the lift from the new springs.
View 14 RepliesI bought a used 2001 Excursion. Neither of the middle row 60/40 bench seats will lift up.
The 60% (wider) bench seat lifted fine a week ago. Then I installed two car seats above them, drove it for a week, and when I took them out and tried to lift that bench seat, it seems stuck. I pull up on the lever, but the seat won't lift.
The previous owner re-upholstered the seats before I bought it, and there is no opening in the new upholstery for it even to latch into the base. So I'm very confused how it could be locked.
Similar story for the other 40% (smaller) seat. We actually just lifted this seat up and cut out holes in the new upholstery so that it could lock into the base. And when we finally pushed it down and heard it lock, after that we could not get it to lift. We pull the latch up and hear it unlock, and we can feel underneath that it is unlocked. Yet the seat will not lift.
I'm pulling with all my strength, but the seats are stuck.
I have a 2003 Excursion 4x4 Diesel 6.0. I want to do a lift of 2 inches with 18 inch wheels and 33 inch rubber. What is the best and most affordable way to get that done? The lift kits are at least a grand and that seems crazy for a 2 inch lift. I want to continue to park the scurge in the garage. So 4 inch is probably pushing it for garage access. My garage is 81.5 inches tall.

I have a 2003 excursion 4X4 on factory 16" wheels. I want to keep my same wheels. Want to install 7" lift. How big of tire can I go? I was looking at the 345/75R16 and 365/75R16 BFG Mud Terrains. Not many manufacturers are making big tires for 16s. I want to go as big as I can without cutting or spacers. Will NOT put any type of Super Swamper. This truck will never see mud.

How much in the front tires and how much in the rear?
I was driving yesterday and had no heat, tried rotating the dial several times, changed the vent setting and such and no heat front or rear. Then all of a sudden while waiting for a train to pass, the heat started working in the front and rear.
This morning I stated her up and had heat, but by the time I got to work (30 minutes) it was barely warm. Due to heated seats! It's 26 degrees out and I'm at work, so it'll be this evening before I get a chance to look at it.
2000 limited v10 4x4 in case it didn't show up.

View 1 RepliesThe stock radio in my 2003 X seems to have lost a lot of volume. I assume there is a stock amplifier but where it would be. Is it internal to the radio? I did check all fuses that were related to the radio.
View 3 RepliesHere is my 2004 Excursion PSD. The X was already lifted when we bought it, but I'd love to return it to stock ride height or near stock w/ the larger tires on 16's. So, not having been around 4x4's for long, how the heck do I figure out how it was lifted? Shackles, different springs, who knows??? Basically is just too much of a PITA not fitting into car washes and not being able to fit it in my garage for repairs.

View 13 RepliesMy mother-in-law has a 2003 Escape with a V-6. For the last week the rear lift gate and window will not open. Tried the door key and the driver's side door unlocked. Turned the key again within three seconds (according to the operator's manual). The two lights flashed, the remaining doors opened except for the rear gate. I pressed my ear to the gate and it sounds like it is trying to release the locking mechanism. Any recommendations?
View 7 RepliesThe front a/c blows cold air but the 2nd row and back blows warm. Yes the temp dial is on cold on both dials. Is there a separate a/c clutch that I dont know about to ck the air gap? Is there a separate port to put freon in besides the front. I need to get this fixed because with my bulldogs in the back the heat will kill them.
