Ford Excursion :: Key Fob Won't Working?
Sep 18, 2013
So a few weeks ago my remote quit working. I assumed it was the battery so I replaced it and it's no better. Before I order a new remote is there anything else I should check? Am I going to be able to program the new one without this first one?

I suspect the power may not be getting thru the GEM. Gonna take it to get the GEM codes read to make sure - not looking forward to spending the $ to replace the whole darn gem if it is indeed the problem. Any success story of ever try bypassing the gem or taking power from another switched source?

Just purchased a new to me 2003 Ex with the 6.0. The rear AC motor is not working at all. No hot air blowing...nada. I swapped out the 40 amp fuse for the auxiliary blower and still no luck. What should my next move be?

Down hill toward intersection with light that turned red. I braked fairly hard and then all of a sudden, brake pedal goes to floor and I go through the light. I pump brake once or twice and still nothing. Luckily I made it through without hitting anyone and eventually stopped with emergency brake. Turns out the line to the rear brakes blew. It was probably weak and maybe the pressure from braking hard blew it. This was sudden. There was no warning whatsoever. Reservoir was empty and practically no brakes in the front. There was enough front brakes to keep the truck from idling forward, but that is it. I thought that I should have had full front brakes with a modern day master cylinder. Looks like Ford blew it with this one. Very dangerous design.
Is there an upgrade available? I never want this to happen again.

I have never heard my fan change noise pitch since I bought the V-10 Ex four years ago. Could it be working right? It's been through plenty of hot days and idling.

My front ac blower fan is not working. I changed the resistor because seemed to be popular answer for fix but nothing I took blower off and straight wired it and it worked so that should rule out blower motor. Right? Swapped relay 103 and nothing...

I got a 04 V10 6.8L excursion with now all of a sudden the clutch won't engage in the compressor. Is there a shut off switch I don't know about or do I have to replace the whole compressor.

My Mom used my Ex to take the kids to the park today. When I went to unlock it with the fob.... NOTHING! I thought maybe a bad battery, but when I got home and tried the other one it didn't work either. Is there a fuse or something that would have gone bad? Everything else in the truck is working fine except for the remotes.

Purchased a set of LED tail lights for the beast last week. I'm having an issue. I know about the hyper flash and I expected that but what is happening is the tail light doesn't come on, it blinks when the turn signal is activated but no tail light, dead. Remove bulb and put old bulb regular standard incandescent bulb back in and it works before it's seated in the socket. Why this is happening? Here's the link to evil bay and what I purchased, maybe it will work.

Well just replaced most everything in the front axle. Hubs, vacuum seal, dust seal, inner seals and calipers. I also cleaned the autolock hubs. Fist time I used them they worked. I tried again today and no 4wd. I checked the vacuum lines and they are all intact. Not sure what to do next.

I have a 2003 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer 6.0L that I bought and noticed the headlights are not working.
The brights come on when I pull back on the signal lever. However when I push the lever forward the headlights do not stay on. In order to get home last night I wedged a dime in the lever space to keep the brights on so I had light while driving.
Brights work with lever pulled back. Headlamps do not work on auto, or manually turning on. FOG lights do work correctly.
Reverse, Turn signals, Hazards, Break lights, and amber front signals all work as they should. The low beams do not work at all.

2004 Excursion 6.0 ... What might be cause of my "shift on fly" 4x4 not working? No lights on dash, no mechanical noise, fuse appears OK.

I'm having a problem with my 6.0, My wife to ok my daughter, 16 months now, down to Seattle the other day for a nontraditional physical therapy that we've been trying; she went to leave and when the truck came up to temperature there was no power. By no power, I mean NO POWER. We had the Ex towed home, 50 or so miles, I was on an island at the time. I am looking at starting in on it tomorrow and can't find any similar problems using the search function on here. I starts fine, hot or cold. When hot it idles crazy rough and will not even pull up our drive way because there is no power, it does it when cold. Our drive way is barely the length of the Ex. When my wife read me the stats over the phone nothing seemed out of the ordinary from what I could tell.

My Excursion is stuck in 2wd. It worked one morning, then it didn't that same afternoon.
I've checked all fuses that resemble a related fuse in the fuse box.
I've replaced the dash switch, Transfer case shift motor and ESOF/GEM module behind the glove box. I've swapped around the relays under the hood on the drivers side fender well.
I ran a hot & ground to the 2-wire plug on the x-fer case shift motor to have it move the ex back into 2wd (replacing the shift motor required me to manually put it in 4hi with a wrench).
At this point, I'm thinking it's a wiring issue? Where to go next?

The middle a/c is not working and to clarify my front top display is out (I took down the display and the little chips appear to need to be re-seated or soldered) so I don't know if that is playing into the whole scheme.
Right now the front a/c works, rear back works on floor, but the middle does not blow at all. I have read several posts the mention a TMX(not sure if that is it)? also mention are flapper doors (?) directional doors(?).
Had the EGR delete done (and because mine is an 05 my engine light stays on - yeah) and the SCT computer and oil cooler are next. Also replaced all the injectors and performance has greatly improved.

I had had intermittent issues with the cruise control not working in my excursion. most of the time it was fine though. after a recent 150 mile trip it stopped working half way through. i didnt worry about it too much..got back into town and checked under the hood. i found brake fluid running down the inner fender well! all over everything under the master cylinder. finally tracked it down to the cruise control switch on the master cylinder leaking. I pulled the plug apart and it was full of brake fluid.
Meanwhile the master cylinder was about half full, so i replaced it with the same switch out of a '96 parts explorer which is the same part luckily. also yes i have had the cruise control recall done. So if you have lost CC and you have a leak replace the switch! seems it can leak..and at a pretty good rate..alittle scary! glad i figured it out before my 800+ mile trip later this week/weekend.

Ok, I've read about the blower motor resistor, and everyone says you should have HIGH speed on the fan.
2002 Excursion with digital display.
I turn the truck on, then turn on the blower. A small puff of air comes out then shuts off completely. I can hear the direction doors opening when i change between foot and face A/C.
Is this the blower resistor that needs changing?
