Interior lights are sometimes staying on for 30 minutes after all doors have been closed. Thought it was the back hatch, but now seems to be random. I've cleaned the latches and lubricated with no luck. What else could be causing this?? A relay, computer.

My interior lights just started staying on intermittently. Seems like the front passenger door. I'll have to pull the panel and lube the switch.
View 7 RepliesI have a '00 Ford ranger and a '99 f-150 , when leaving the doors open , interior lights go off after 10-15 minutes in the ranger but not on my 150. Is there a relay or something aftermarket that makes this possible on the 150 ?
View 3 RepliesA little history first. 1998 F-150XL ... We bought this truck in 2001 and other than some random electrical issues we love this truck. The first thing to go bad was the was the interior light staying on even with the door closed, no big deal I just removed the bulb, the next thing to go bad was the instrument cluster except the speedometer, not too big of a deal just keep track of the mileage so you don't run out of gas. The next problem was randomly not starting like it lost its ground, the lights on the dash would be bright until you hit the starter then the lights on the dash would go dim and the starter would tap like it had no ground. Wait a few minutes and it would start again and it would be a year before it would do it again, until now!
Drove to town came back out did it again except this time would not start again. We pulled the starter switch it was good, replaced the clutch engagement switch on the clutch pedal, no good. Decided to pull it home, tried to pop start it, no dice. While pulling home all the sudden everything lit up on the dash and it started like a champ, drove it the rest of the way home and it wouldn't start back up. Since then I have put in a new battery, new battery wire ends, took lose the ground on the firewall and starter and cleaned them with no luck. I can get the lights to come up bright on the dash again, but as soon as I hit the starter all goes dead again. I am at a complete loss where to go next?
The interior lights on my '03 X do not turn on when any of the doors are opened. All of the lights work when the dimmer switch is flipped and when the individual switches are flipped on. The lights also turn on automatically when ignition is turned in the off position after running. Where should I begin to look to get this resolved?

Within the past month I have noticed that the interior dome lights and running board lights don't always come on when I open the doors. The dimmer switch is set to the highest level without being turned on and all of the dashboard lights work. I turn the dimmer switch on and sometimes the interior lights work and sometimes they don't. The door switch seems to be in good shape as well. If I turn the dome lights on individually they work so I know that there is not a problem with the bulbs. Where I can look for the problem?
View 3 RepliesMy buddies 01 Ex will shut off the dome light after a short time with any or all the doors open. My 02 Ex will never shut the dome light out unless all doors are closed.
I guess I'm headed for the override switch but wanted to confirm before if I did that there wasn't an issue with something other component.
I'm not just reposting it though. I went ahead and sprayed all of the door switches with WD-40 multiple times, and the interior cab lights still come on. So, I'm assuming one of the switches in the doors is bad. Only thing is, I don't know how to figure out which door has a bad switch. Any way I could check this? Or it may be something other than a bad switch. It's annoying not having any interior lights (I took them all out to keep the battery from running down).

Messed with it. Didn't work.They are staying on, after locking doors and significant time lapse. Is there a switch or button that would do this?
View 9 RepliesThe map lights in my 2011 Sonata GLS just started having a problem. They stay on when the switch is set to Door, even when all of the doors are closed. They'll turn off when I turn it to Off and on when I turn it to On. It just started the other day, and the only unusual thing that's happened recently is my brother used my car to jump start his dead battery.

View 2 RepliesSeveral times now I have found that the courtesy lights stay ON after all the doors are closed, and the dash switch is indeed off. This has caused the battery to drain.
I have opened and closed all doors numerous times and the light won't go off. I can't seem to find where the door switches are so that I can inspect them.
The last time this happened I was forced to remove the fuse, then the next day I put the fuse back in and the lights operated correctly.
I've been having a problem with some of the interior lights staying on and killing my battery each night. The lights that stay on are the climate control lights, gear shift light, and the lights on the door for the windows and locks. Every time i have to crank up i have to get it jumped off. If i pull the fuse out for the tail lights i no longer have the problem. I was wondering does it have something to do with the lighting control module or maybe the headlight switch.
I also have been having a problem with the a/c making this tapping sound behind the dash. Even with the a/c off you hear this constant sound as long as the car is on. I have no clue what is going on...
Well I have got a 2000 Excursion with v10 that I've been having some electrical problems with lately. All started with a no start issue and gauge cluster warning lights staying on along with fuel and volt gauges reading without the keys being in the ignition. Took it in to the dealership to get looked at and they are saying it needs a new fuse box and gem module put in it. Was also told that it is an obsolete part and gonna be tricky trying to find the correct one for my truck as it needs to be identical to what my truck has as options. Is there any other places out there making new ones or fixing gem modules? Dealership pretty much told me if they can't find a new gem module for it that the truck is pretty much dead in the water.

View 2 RepliesIf I have the switch set for the lights to turn on when I open the doors, they don't turn off when the doors are shut they just stay on all of the time. Also, sometimes they don't work at all and sometimes they do. My 12v outlet doesn't work either but I am guessing it's the fuse..
View 2 RepliesI was getting something from the Santa Fe last night and noticed that the interior lights didn't come on when I opened the door. Further investigation found that they don't illuminate with any of the four doors (despite the door ajar light coming on in the dash), but the lights do come on when set to "ON", so the bulbs and fuse(s) are fine. The model year is 2001.

I have a bad bulb in the cargo area which I removed. (don't know if every bulb has to be functional)
I have no listing in the owners manual for interior lights or dome lights for the fuses. I assume the 10amp one for the gauge cluster was it.
Have an 411 on where to check now? Also looking for a parts listing for replacement bulbs for all the dome/reading lights.
