How do I reset my overhead display? I know you press both buttons, but then it says I need to set a zone. What zone I set it too?

View 3 RepliesThe overhead council temp/compass/ mpg on my 2000 xlt stopped working, who has fixed this already?
View 6 RepliesOn my 2000 Ex my overhead console screen does not work. I have searched and found a few F series ones but nothing about the removal of the huge console. Is it pretty much the same process?
View 4 RepliesI just picked up an 05 6.0 Limited and love it, but I can't figure out the overhead temperature gauge. It shows -40 degrees no matter what, but if I hit the outside temp button on the climate control, it shows the (mostly) correct temp. I verified that the temp sensor in front of the radiator is still there and hooked up, and it seems to me that Ford wouldn't go to the expense of using separate sensors for each readout, so I'm guessing that the problem is in the overhead unit itself. All of the other functions (compass, mileage, range) work just fine. I've seen several threads about the overhead dying completely as chips rattle loose. Is it also common for just specific functions to go out as things start to shake apart?
View 14 RepliesNot the usual. I stopped on my way home to get gas tonight when the gauge was showing one pip. Naturally it wasn't low, but I'm used to that.
The odd thing is that after I got in the car and turned it back on the gauge stayed at one pip and the fuel display on the multi-function display didn't reset.
How to recalibrate the temp on the overhead display?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2000 F-150 5.4 SC 4x4 XLT. It has the overhead temperature and direction display. It has started flashing randomly. I don't know how to describe it, but I have a couple videos. Sometimes it doesn't illuminate at all for a while. What is messed up to cause this and could excessive water splashing cause it. It started after going down my driveway which ha water running deep in both tracks the whole 1/2 mile.
There are two videos but one isn't wanting to embed.

Every light on my overhead display would flash on and off randomly. I pulled it and one 510 was dangling and the other fell off when I touched it. They have been properly re-soldered. It still doesn't work after re-solder. I am trying to figure out which wire is the power and which is ground so I can test if power is getting to the board.
There are 6 wires. On one side is blue w/orange stripe, gray w/ black stripe, and white w/ blue stripe. The other side is pink w/ black stripe, blue w/ red stripe, and black w/ blue stripe. The fuse that the overhead console is on isn't blown since my 4x4 and abs is working.
I have an 03 F350 Lariat, the overhead console display quit working awhile back (about 18 months ago) and so far my only option is to buy a new one from Ford. I have looked online, on ebay, local wreckers and have come up with nothing. I have come close a few times but the wrecks didn't have a sunroof so the display is different. I searched and found ways to fix the resistors but mine do not seem to have the poor solder problem that some do. Where I can find a replacement display?
View 1 RepliesFor some reason my OH display decided to show 140 deg F when its 40 deg F outside. Continues to show 140 all the time now regardless of out side temp. In case its the related outside temp sensor sending unit, where it is exactly on an 02. Unless someone has solution may try changing that out to see if that is the problem?
View 14 RepliesMy overhead display quit working earlier this week. The truck has 120k miles. Is this display on it's own fuse? I only used it for the outside temperature readout but I would really like to get it working again.
View 3 RepliesSo I shorted wires out putting a new plug on my mirror, and now I have no turn signals, no backup lights and no overhead display that shows mpg and outside temp. All fuses are good, and I don't think it is my flasher relay just because I also have no park lamps or over head display.
View 3 RepliesThe little screen that shows the MPG and outside temp went out a few months back. Getting close to winter so i'm getting more interested in fixing it if it's a simple thing. Where I should start? AFAIK, everything else works fine. This is on a 2000 Limited.
View 14 RepliesHow to remove the overhead console in my Excursion? I just want to make sure I dont break it.
View 6 RepliesToday the little guage in the over head went dark. So I came to FTE to search out the repair solution, but I'm having issues. What is that thing actually called? I've read it referenced as the lie-o-meter, but I cannot seem to find a good thread relating to various repairs to it.
View 7 RepliesI was taking off my console and I noticed this connection not being used. What's it for?
View 11 RepliesMy overhead with temp, compass and mpg stopped working.
View 11 RepliesCEL - code escaping me but it said #7 glow plug (ordered a scantool yesterday).
Shifting - its at lowest been in the 30's and the truck has issues shifting until its warm. Its wierd, its like the water temp gauge stays at cold, then snaps up and shifting is fine from then on. Takes what I think is a long time to get there, not a gradual temp change, just like click and the gauge is on.
Lots of electrical looking issues, maybe all tied together?
- Shut doors sometimes flashers blink
- Overhead console no longer lights up
- Door ajar and overhead lights on when doors are tight
- more oddities but I can't think of them now
As far as I can tell, Expeditions, Excursions and Navigators all had this same part in them but for whatever reason it seems like it's next to impossible to find on its own - I don't want to buy a whole overhead console for one part.
Here is what I'm talking about:
I want to replace the lens and buttons, not just the missing button (which is somewhere inside my truck)
Is it Part #5 on this? [URL] ....
I can't find an individual part # - Is it because the overhead console was sold as a whole?
What powers the overhead trip/compass/MPG gauges? Mine won't light up, and I'm lost.
The story: This unit has been out since before I bought it. Initially, I didn't give it too much thought. I was more interested in replacing tie rods and the lock-out hubs. Off and on since the summer, I've been thinking about it. In the fall, I started messing with it. I tried locating a fuse, but they all "seem" fine, unless I'm looking at the wrong one. I gave up, decided it was a dead unit, and went hunting.
In my grand fortune, I bought a replacement front grille for my Ex, as mine was cracked. The seller and I had a long conversation about our Ex's, and it led to him giving me a perfectly functional display. He bought the complete overhead unit for parts, didn't need the computer. I paid nothing for it, the guy was awesome. Despite his awesomeness, he said his 7.3L had only 152k, which may lead to a powertrain robbery in the night (j/k).
Today, I went out, dropped the console, popped and swapped the displays, still nothing. Sad faced, I hit my head on the steering wheel and came in for more coffee. It's snowing, again, and I'm not back tracking the entire system if someone here knows the hot spots or common faults of this display.
If you know anything that may be of some use, pictures, fuse slots, relay info. I know this v10 is a gasser, but I'd really like to see how bad it is.
The read out light on my overhead console (the read out that tells the awesome fuel mileage Im getting) isnt working, and hasnt been since I got my excursion a month ago. Thats the only thing on it that doesnt work and was wondering if it could be a bulb, or is this a common problem and if so whats the fix?
