Is there any particular front stabilizer shock I should purchase for a replacement for my 2003 X 6.0L diesel? Anything I should stay away from?

View 7 RepliesToday I noticed I broke my steering stabilizer shock. It it broke at the connection on the piston arm where it connects to the steering linkage and the piston shaft is bent. Guess it happened when I hit a rock Thursday. I am thinking of purchasing the Rancho 9000 adjustable shock as a replacement. I do not do much off road driving and what I do is very moderate. This is for a 04 Excursion, 4x4, 6.0PSD, with 285 all terrain tires, no lift.
View 7 RepliesI'm looking to replace the worn out skyjacker or rancho steering stabilizers on the ex. Wanting to put bilsteins in there place. 5100 series to match the shocks for the truck. What are the part numbers for this setup?
View 14 RepliesIs this part covered by my premium care esp warranty? I thought that I read it was at one time might be mistaken.
View 8 RepliesAny trick that they have used before for removing the Front Passenger Shock Top Nut without removing the A/C Accumulator? The Nut I need to remove is right underneath the A/C Accumulator and I can't get a 15mm Deep Socket on the nut so that I can use an air tool to take off the nut like I did on the Driver side. Is my only option to use a 15mm ratcheting box end wrench or remove the accumulator? On AllData, they show the pics of the Driver Side which is easy to access with just a swivel and a couple of extensions.
View 1 RepliesTook my 2004 Honda CRV 2W Drive to my local dealer for the 90K maintenance. There they recommended for me to replace the front shocks strut assembly--not quite remembering the reason but they told me that it needs to get done. Before I get the work done, I am trying to find as much info on what next steps to take.
View 10 RepliesLooking to install rear sway bar on 2001 Ex. and noticed a skid plate looking thing in front of passenger side rear shock. Two questions:
1. What is that, and
2. Do I need to remove it to put on sway Bar?
Trying to replace my steering stabilizer and in the process I broke the nut close to the steering box. Would not budge so used a bar and well I broke it. Now I can't pop it out am I doing something wrong? Here are a few pics. I'm totally bummed nothing seems to be working for me.
View 14 RepliesLooking to replace the steering stabilizer on my 2008 F-250. It has a 6" lift and 37" tires.
Also, does "dual" mean better?
Will replacement of the original OEM steering stabilizer with a higher quality stabilizer tighten up my steering wheel play, making is more responsive?
View 5 RepliesI am looking in replacing the front shocks on my 03 excursion. It is 2w drive with the 5.4 engine. What recommendations for a smoother ride?
View 1 RepliesI have an 04 Limited, 6.0 PSD, 4x4 which I need to replace the front inner axle seals, the right side is leaking out the shaft. I have watched a couple of YouTube videos on how it is done but would like to get some first hand knowledge and recommendations.
First, how important is it to check the backlash before beginning the removal of the gear assembly? Do I need to remove the pinion gear as well or just the gear assembly?
How difficult is it to get everything back on place once the seals are replaced? I have not done this type of repair before and am concerned I might miss something.
I am planning to replace all the ball joints at this time also, this was the primary reason for this maintenance in the first place.
Noticed some fluid on the bottom of the Ex a few months ago and have been watching it since. Drained and refilled with the XL-12 fluid at the time and based on what I can see the likely culprit is the input seal on the transfer case. I have searched high and low both here and via the almighty google with little info to be found. Is it simply remove transfer case, replace input seal, reseal case connection, and refill?
View 2 RepliesWhile underneath truck today i noticed the front stabilizer bar has disconnected at both ends,Haven't noticed anything in the handling,How important is this thing ?
View 5 RepliesCouldn't get the bolts out of the bushings so just bought new mounts. Was wondering to have the torque value for the u-bolts...
View 2 RepliesToday while driving I noticed a knocking when turning right or going over bumps in the road. I finally got to look under the truck and noticed that I'm missing the nut on the top side of the front stabilizer bar link bolt assembly on the passenger side.
It's a '99 Ranger XLT 4x4. Is this unsafe to drive? Is there a bushing on the top?
I've noticed quite a few threads looking for the shock bolts lately. I've replaced one of mine and just had another break. Today I ordered replacements for all 4 nuts and bolts.
The Bolt part number is - N605906-S2
The Nut Part Number is - N803714-S426
I just replaced front shocks and got the car aligned. Now I feel the difference in front to rear and want to change the rear shocks out too. I seem to remember someone suggesting under normal circumstances the Prius rear setup never gets aligned. Is this true?
View 4 RepliesMy 2006 AWD LTD 500 has about 52000 miles on it; a slight rattle/clunking noise is intermittently heard on driver's side in engine compartment. Took it in to dealer who says motor mount is cracked and front stabilizer bar joints are worn and both need replacing. Car has only been driven on highways or for short trips (3-4 miles) and has had no impacts nor been driven over rough roads or run over any potholes or such. Should the motor mount be damaged? At 52K miles?? Never heard of such a thing. Ditto, the stabilizer bar joints: worn out in under 60K miles? What can I do about this? Who seek relief from? Ford warranty is, of course, over, and supplemental warrenty will only cover motor mount replacement but not stab bar. Are these parts routinely wearing out at such an early date that repair shops can reap the rewards???
View 4 RepliesFrom day one my 2011 Sonata Limited left front suspension has been very noisy especially over road reflectors or other abrupt irregularities in the road surface at slow speeds. I've always felt I had a bad strut or strut mount but I believe it's the ball socket in the front sway bar end link. Has to replace these to remove a knocking sound and had it go away afterwards? I test drove a 2013 Limited and it was solid and noise free over the same surfaces so I know something isn't right. I also see no aftermarket kits for these. I find the rear ones but not the front.
View 19 RepliesSo I have to replace them since I have this rattling in the rear and my mechanic has diagnosed it to be the rear bushings...
