Fairly new to the ex. I just picked her up from the stealership last night, I'm in love! It's an 05 limited, v10, 71k. Loaded. Still tryin to figure out all the bells and whistles. It has one issue, I think it's minor, the drivers side power seat works intermittently, heat and movement. Being an electrician I believe it's probably a bad connection.

It moves fine when I am not sitting in it, but as soon as I sit in it, it doesn't want to work (the motor starts to engage, albeit weakly, then stalls). I have never worked on a seat before, so I don't even know where I should start looking to fix the problem. 2005 Ex Limited. And is there a part I should be focused on? And how the heck do I dissassmble it? I've seen the seat's diagram, but I really can't tell by that how to take the seat apart.
View 7 RepliesI am not liking this seat. Not sure if something wrong with control lately or I'm just noticing from sitting there more but I want it to lean more forward. I have messed with controls to get it to as forward as it will lean but still feel like it's only touching the very bottom of my back. Is there a spec on seat angle so I could check if it's proper? I'd like to avoid getting a grandma pillow..

View 7 RepliesSo after taking my truck to the car wash my drivers side seat no longer slides forward and is stuck in the all-the-way back position. The little joystick goes up and down, won't go back (since its all the way back) and makes absolutely no noise to go forward.
I've tried the seat recline trick to no avail. I also can't access one of the rear seat bolts because the seat is all the way back. What is going on and is there any way to manually get the seat moved forward?
2003 Ex, EB, bench style middle row. I have owned less than a year.
Purchased with a broken latch assembly the drivers side middle row...promptly replaced for $70. Today, it is broke again, less than a year. I am going to do some more investigating as to HOW this happened TWICE.
Chipped, broken housing on their middle latch assembly? It breaks the black part first, which holds the guts in alignment....once the black part slips down or up to far...the guts do not function.
The only control that is working on my driver's seat is the heat. The other controls are not working. I've checked the fuses and tried to recline the seat but that didn't fix. Is there something else I should be looking at?
View 9 RepliesCuz then there wouldn't be nothing wrong with my radio. So my factory 6 disc stereo has been giving me guff. Sometimes when I start my X it comes on normally and other times it puts out no sounds. Like the display is working just fine and i can turn the volume up and down and see the bars move across the display like the volume is changing but there's no actual volume from the speakers. Sometimes I never get output from the speakers for my entire 30 minute drive and other times it may just instantly without warning start playing over the speakers.
When it's not working changing stations or changing to cd/dvd doesn't fix it. It's completely random? I've been searching the net for issues like this and I've found a Taurus forum and a poster had the same issue with his factory Taurus stereo. He replace the RCM, which I assume is a radio control module, and it fixed the issue. Does the excursion have an RCM?
I just purchased a 2005 F150 (4.6L / 4 door). The lot I purchased it from had picked it up at auction. Tell-Tell signs indicate it was a repo. (Only one key, no fobs, locking fuel filler door jimmied and spring removed, scratches on upper corner of driver's side door and rubber bent back.
The power locks switch on arm rest works on all doors except driver's. The drivers door does lock and unlock manually. I am wanting a good hypothesis before I begin tearing into the door panel.
If the latching mechanism was damaged, it wouldn't lock manually, right? If the electronics were damaged the other doors wouldn't work right? So, my hypothesis is the actuator on driver's door. Do I start searching for/locating possible replacement parts?
we just bought a 2002 Excursion and it has a few issues. First off the door, the ajar light will not go out, however, the dome lights are not on constant, they come on briefly while the key is removed and do work with the roller switch. Also the radio doesn't shut off with the key removed until the timer relay kills all power. I have ohmed the door switches to ground all the way back to the VSM/GEM module. The door lock/unlock switches do nothing for any of the doors, the actuators don't even try to move. The auto headlights also do not function.
View 14 RepliesI don't know what to try next. I have a short somewhere, just don't know how to track it down. I checked the fuse for the drivers seat and it was blown. I stuck a new one in and the thing blew as soon as I stuck it in. I disconnected the seat motors, plugged in a fuse and it blew again as soon as I stuck it in. How to track this down?
I don't see any worn or shorted wires under the seat. I checked under the passenger side kick panel per another post I found, but that looks fine. I don't know where to look or what to test.
I have a friend with a problem. He has a 2007 Explorer Limited that when he hits a bump the drivers side power seat moves all the way back.
View 1 RepliesI have read other people having problems with their power seats. Mine is kind of weird, the right side moves, the left doesn't. So when I try to move forward, it moves forward and pivots to toward the left, since only the right side is moving forward on the rail. There is only one motor moving the seat forward and backward right? I am hoping it's just an obstruction on the left railing or something....unless there are two motors moving the seat forward. The lumbar motors are fine, I can move up and down, it's just the seat itself that can't slide forward and backward.
View 2 RepliesMy wife's power drivers seat will only move forward not back. Fuses all look good and the passenger seat operates fine. If this continues and she hits the button again she will need to be shorter than the 5' she is already. No chance at this point I can fit in the car.
View 4 RepliesMy girl's B5 1.8T Passat (1998) has heated seats and only the passenger side one works. I guess when she first got it the driver side worked and after her older brother drove it around a few days it stopped. Fuses look to be ok, and I looked under the seat and the harnesses are all connected.
View 5 RepliesSo you can see from the photo my AC condensor is pretty well f'd. My AC guy at work says I prolly wont be able to straighten the fins back out. My ac in the truck works when it wants to. At idle pretty well but driving it warms up. Sometimes works great, usually when its cold out. I'm sure this mangled mess isn't working. My question is, replace just yhe condenser or so compressor and accumulator at the same time? I don't know what is actually wrong with the system and don't "want" to spend the extra $ on the other items if I dont need them. But I kinda feel like I might as well.
View 14 RepliesOn my 2007 SC 430 I have a passenger headlight that appears to have a mind of its own. It works intermittently. I know that it is programmed to go off when the car is in park, but that is not what I'm talking about. When I start the car after dark both sides will be on but at some point the passenger side will go out, not all the time, but quite often. I have checked for loos wires but have not found any.
View 4 Replieson my 04 supercab f150. one moment door locks work, the next nothing. started this weekend. its a bone stock truck with 128000 miles. sometimes work sometimes don't. have wiggled harness and connections outside the door. worked fine, pulled it out of the shop and parked it now not working again.
View 1 RepliesI bought an '02 LE, 4 cyl w/123k miles and found electric issues. Are they somehow related and indicate a bigger issue? No lights by shifter (PRINDL). Auto shut-off for overhead light works intermittently. Driver door lock button works intermittently – at times when you pull to lock door it’s ok. At times it slides back and forth doing nothing, and can’t be locked manually w/ key or w/ remote. Driver and passenger windows kind of jump at start of open and end of close.
