I can't imagine i'm the only one. Driver and passenger doors are starting to drip rust onto my running boards.
what is the best route to take? I'd like to keep my ex for at least 10 more years.
So this is my problem. So my driver's running boards lights weren't working, but my passenger side was, I had ordered brand new lights and bulbs so I decided to start with my driver side. After I had taken out the light itself and the bulb I found out that the connector was corroded and the new bulbs when I put them in wouldn't work, so I cut the wires and sliced new wires together probably very amateurly. I started with the backlight and that one went well then move to the front driver side running board light and after I had plugged in the light they all stopped working along with my power windows, my power seats, the interior dome lights, my mileage on my instrument cluster doesn't show anymore. By the way when I was checking this fuse box I noticed that 35 was blown which is a 10 amp fuse which goes to the instrument cluster, so I replaced it with a new 10 amp and it blew immediately what could be going on.
View 11 Replies I will be repairing the rust at the bottom edges of my doors. I work at a body shop and we've done 2 X's in the last 2 weeks! one was an 02 and was really bad. the owner wanted 4 new doors and rust repaired at the R/R lower C-pillar. the one today was an 04or 05? and just started to pop. After the first I looked at my doors and my L/R is the worst with just starting to flake paint. The others are just starting to pop.
I'll take some pics of what I'm doing which will be the same we did at the shop. In the years I've been on this site I've never seen mention of this! I know it`s more common in the midwest and east so I'm sure there are more than just a few! In as you don't know what I'm talking about.....look under the rubber weather strip (flap) on the lower part of the doors. the rust starts at the seem where the door frame and skin attach!
I have a 2005 Excursion V10 4WD Eddie Bauer edition. Within the past month I have noticed that the interior dome lights and running board lights don't always come on when I open the doors. The dimmer switch is set to the highest level without being turned on and all of the dashboard lights work. I turn the dimmer switch on and sometimes the interior lights work and sometimes they don't. The door switch seems to be in good shape as well. If I turn the dome lights on individually they work so I know that there is not a problem with the bulbs. Where I can look for the problem?

i just purchased a 2013 f150 limited truck and my husband was cleaning the battery cables and now the retractable running boards won't work. is there something we have to program now and if so how do i do it?
View 8 RepliesEver since I've owned this truck I notice that when I shut the truck off only my rear doors do not auto unlock. Is this normal? It's embarrassing when I have passengers and they need me to hit the unlock switch from my door to get out.

Here's the dumb question, if one bulb is out will that make the other three not work, something like the Christmas light strings?

That issue has gone away buy now I start it and run for 20 minutes, turn it off and try to start it again and all it does is turn over. If I let is sit for about 8hrs it will start again. View 1 RepliesOK for the past few weeks I have been notice water on my floor boards on the DRIVER's SIDE. Now I just did some cab lights and thought ok maybe that's it. About a week ago while it was raining out I dropped the headliner and it was dry as a bone. So I eliminated that as a possibility.
Then I thought well maybe its my 3rd light and the water wasn't showing up until there. So that's been replaced and sealed tight. Now it has been cool here and has not rained in about a week now so everything should of dried out by now.
I left the floor mat out all of yesterday and last night and came out this morning to a dry floor area. I put the mat back in and drove the 15 minutes to my office and pulled the mat back out and the floor was wet again. I have not run my heat or A/C in 4-5 days and have not had any weather other then sun since last Saturday. The water shows up on the back of the floor mat more as like a heavy condensation then anything else. So my question is where is this water coming from?
Do the raptor style boards will work on an F250, 2012?
I hate the stock ones and want something closer to the body and has some rocker panel protection. Alternatives are welcome but not 1k ones.
I've got a 2000 f150 4x4 extended cab, and the rocker panels under the doors are getting rust holes in them. I would like to get mine fixed/replaced this spring. My truck is in great shape other than the rust holes under the doors.

View 1 RepliesI currently have an 05 Limited X and I've also noticed this on other 05 X's as well. The front driver and passenger side doors near the lower end with the cladding doesn't seem to match up with the rear doors. This goes for both driver and passenger front doors. I at first thought maybe it was just on the X I have but this is something I've taken notice of on just about all of the 05 Limited's I've looked at. What I'm referring to with the front doors being popped out a small bit and not matching up or being perfectly aligned with the rear doors?
I've had an 01 Limited and the doors wasn't anywhere near how mis-aligned they seem to be on the 05 Limited's. I haven't checked years between or XLT's. But on almost or pretty much all 05 Limited's I'm noticing this. Some are not as bad as others or as noticeable as others. But for some reason they all seem to pop out a little towards the bottom. When I speak of doors I'm referring to the doors itself, not the cladding/molding sticking out.
Why wouldn't the touch sensitive lock/unlock on the driver and passenger doors not work? I verified that all doors are latched and windows are closed but when I touch the handle to lock the GX I get a long beep.
View 4 RepliesI just picked up an 01 V10 Limited 4x4 and one thing I noticed is the drivers side running board has a very soft spot right where I step to get in. It seems solid both forward and behind that area. Any suggestions for reinforcing the stock runingboards?
View 6 RepliesI have a '05 4X 6.0 PSD... that has a loud clunk or pop noise from under the drivers and passengers floorboards. I've done A LOT to try and fix this noise... and know, it's definitely due to frame twist. As I can drive straight, on flat ground and it'll never happen. On a dirt road, with stutter bumps... still, nothing. When the road is off-camber, or I have an S-Turn the CLUNK will be there, and sometimes more than once (seemingly if the load change is enough).
If I'm off-road, and the road is off-camber or has my X articulating 1-2' in either direction side to side or diagonally, the CLUNK is so annoying, so bad, I think the X is going to fall apart.
So this past weekend, I had my fiance' roll back and forth (about 20') over a small dirt embankment, while I was on my hands on knees outside next to the running board. And boy... it's a LOUD clunk, and I can feel it on my feet in the X... or if I put my hand on the frame. But, for the life of me... can't find the culprit.
It is still a drip, but is getting worse, for several weeks. May be power steering fluid. I have not found the source. I think it is after the truck has run and has fluids operating under pressure.
View 14 RepliesHave a rust spot coming thru rear, that I am presuming is due to condensate from rear a/c.
If the rear inside panel where jack is located is removed, it is from the rear inside corner behind the jack.
A buddy of mine ripped the hitch off his excursion due to rust. Anything can be fixed. I will try to get a picture of it.
