Since my daughter was born a couple of days before I want to deactivate the passenger front airbag, for using a maxicosi-baby seat, where the baby is faced back.

The other day, I was sitting in the just the right place with the light shining in the passenger window just right to notice a glistening liquid in the bottom crack of the line that runs around the passenger side air bag panel. (Hope I explained it well enough)
I was concerned about a water leak of course, but I have no water traces anywhere else behind the dash or the kick panel. I spread the crack apart far enough to get the edge of a paper towel in the crack to wipe up whatever it was. Low and behold, it is some kind of really slick, silicone type oil.
If the safety air bag should be leaking oil? Is my family in danger? Do safety air bags "degrade" and start decomposing in time? Could that oil be coming from some other source?
Can I pull that front panel off without making the bag explode?
Every time I start the truck, the Passenger Side Airbag light is on, which is saying the airbag is turned "OFF." I have to push the button to turn the light off, which turns the airbag "ON." How do I reset this to where the airbag is "ON" until I turn it "OFF?"
View 8 RepliesThe passenger airbag light only works 50% of the time there is a passenger in front seat. I've moved the seat forward and backward .. But ultimately the passenger must unbuckle, step out if the car , and sit back down in order for it to work. I took it to the dealer with its silver warranty package and the dealer can't find a code so won't fix it. "If it keeps doing it, come back." I'm not going to drive 20 miles out of the way, on one if the 50% chance days that it doesn't work.
View 19 RepliesBought 09 Buick Lacrosse CX 4/11 with 26K mi. Jun. '12 passenger airbag began turning off intermittently with passenger in seat. Buick shop replaced pps module. In 2/13 it began doing it again. This time buick shop said the computer was being confused by placing items on the seat weighing less than 75-80 lbs. and didn't know whether to stay on or turn off. They "reset" computer. Been placing items on the seat ever since buying and never experienced this problem. Is the airbag sensor that sensitive? It's doing it again, a few days after the shop "fixed" it with the reset, and I only placed a newspaper on the edge of the seat and snatched it back up immediately.
View 1 RepliesAny trick that they have used before for removing the Front Passenger Shock Top Nut without removing the A/C Accumulator? The Nut I need to remove is right underneath the A/C Accumulator and I can't get a 15mm Deep Socket on the nut so that I can use an air tool to take off the nut like I did on the Driver side. Is my only option to use a 15mm ratcheting box end wrench or remove the accumulator? On AllData, they show the pics of the Driver Side which is easy to access with just a swivel and a couple of extensions.
View 1 RepliesAlright, yesterday while I am at work, wife calls me up and tells me the Ex is leaking coolant. I got home a little before dark and looked at it. Right behind the front passenger fender well, it appears that either a bolt came out of a bracket, or someone took it off for something and was too lazy to put it on, allowing the metal elbows to swing over and rub on a bracket. So now I have a hole in that elbow, and I need to the excursion for our trip over Christmas leave. Where I might get an elbow to replace that one? Also, need to know the bolt size for that heater hose bracket to keep it from happening again? If I can't find one pretty soon, I will have to JBWeld or something it temporarily to hold us through until after Christmas.
View 6 RepliesIts been awhile since I have been on. Everything has been running great for me until I found my passenger side front axle leaking fluid. I'm sure something has been posted on here but I have limited access to internet right now and need to know what I am getting into to change the seals. From what I have found there is an inner seal in the pumpkin and then an outer seal and dust cover. Are both of these easy to change? Are there any special tools needed? Do I need to remove the gears in the pumpkin? If so, is this difficult and any special tools required for this?
Mine is a 2001 V10-6.8, 4x4 no mods at this point.
Looking to install rear sway bar on 2001 Ex. and noticed a skid plate looking thing in front of passenger side rear shock. Two questions:
1. What is that, and
2. Do I need to remove it to put on sway Bar?
2003 Limited 6.0 130K. Just took a 1000 mile trip for spring break. While away, I noticed a small leak near the front passenger side of the truck. It is red so I assumed it was transmission fluid. It is leaking from, the best I can describe, a small housing that looks like it might be a filter near the tire (it looks like the old style canister oil filter housings). All the hoses are clean and where the hoses go into the radiator are clean. Is this an easy fix? I am a bit worried about trying to get the thing off without damaging the hoses.
View 3 RepliesMy father in law has an 04 EX with the 5.4. It has a weird sound coming from the front passenger side. He listened to the jiffy lube kid who told him it was the brakes. I pulled one side completely apart tonight and the brakes are fine. We took it for a drive so I could hear the noise. It is coming from the passenger side up front. It is intermittent.
Doesn't matter if we hit a bump or pot hole. It sounds like a cat being run over. It will either last for a few seconds or just really quick. I crawled underneath and could not find anything loose. The first time I heard it I thought it was a shock. But the second time it was way too long to be a shock. And they are only a year old.
Secondly, it has a cat, and two mufflers..... Is this normal?
So this morning is just getting better and better. Was coming back in from getting the mail and noticed a small puddle under the passenger side tire/wheel area.
I never ever have a puddle of any sort in my drive way so...I start crawling around the truck and this is what I find. I can free spin the dust seal, but its all the fluid that has be worried. With less then 4 days till I have to haul everyone to the airport this is not what I need.
IF (man I feel stupid for asking) IF I leave it in 2 wheel drive how big of an issue would it be to drive it?
None of the parts will be in before I have to drive everyone out to the airport, this is the only reason I'm even considering this..
Plus would this explain a sudden lost of MPG?
On my 2003 Excursion 7.3L, I notticed I'm leaking what I think is coolant from the passenger side rear hard line by the front spring hanger. I haven't pealed the plastic loom away yet, but I did see the loom is chaffed near the spring hanger. What lines are the ones that carry coolant, and can I just cut the hard lines and replace with a section of rubber hose?

I know the es350 was so bad like this that there was a threat of class action. I've read the weight sensor is in the passenger seat rail and you can also do a calibration with a scan tool.
I have suddenly acquired a new value added feature to my X. An airbag warning light flashing code 18. Through the research I have found it is either a pretensioner issue or a short. Would like to know for sure what it is.

I've had my 2004 F150 for almost 2 years now. For almost the last year my airbag light has been on. No codes, just the airbag light on the dash being on and occasionally the light on the console turns on.
Are there sensors that may go bad? I've looked and everything under the passenger seat is connected. Going to be upgrading the truck soon, just need to take care of all the little things first.
I ordered a new factory steering wheel to replace mine, which is starting to get nasty. I know how to change the steering wheel but have never done it on one with an air bag. Is this a dealer only thing? What is the procedure?
View 11 RepliesI've got an '07 Sport Trac that is throwing the airbag light when a passenger sits down. I took it in to the dealership and they said that the trac on the passenger side seat has a signal blocked when somebody sits down.
Are there any obvious things I can do or check for? They didn't dig around for anything, they just hooked it up and pulled the codes with and without someone sitting in the seat to confirm the diagnosis.
I bought a used 2010 f-150. the passenger air bag cover has a small rip in it. I want to replace it & it looks like a separate part on the parts blow up. i do all my own work & was wondering if i can replace it without screwing with the air bag.
