My A/C has just stopped working and I am looking for some pointers on how to diagnose the problem. The vent and blower still works, just no cold air coming out? Where do I start?
View 10 RepliesMy Mom used my Ex to take the kids to the park today. When I went to unlock it with the fob.... NOTHING! I thought maybe a bad battery, but when I got home and tried the other one it didn't work either. Is there a fuse or something that would have gone bad? Everything else in the truck is working fine except for the remotes.

Coming home tonight, I lost all the instrument cluster gauges. Speedometer, tachometer, fuel, oil, temperature and transmission temperature.
So the logical thing to do was check both instrument cluster fuses, fuse 35 and fuse 41. They were both OK.
Kept looking and found fuse #45 blown, it's the "Ignition switch Run/ Start feed" fuse. It was blown.
Popped in a new one and gauges came back to life. I don't know why fuse #45 controls power to the instrument cluster gauges. Strange.
this thing stopped working on me today, can i fix it? or how can i get another one?

All five clearance lights on my cab stopped working, and I can't figure out why. I've read all the threads, but few show the wiring, and are more useful for installing than troubleshooting. I think I have the Ford SKU'd ones, not the Recons, but I can't say for sure. Here's what one of them looks like:
My questions:
1) How do you remove the bulb from the rubber mount? Just pulling it out didn't work.
2) Is there a fuse somewhere (in the harness, perhaps?) that protects these things? All my overhead console functions and lighting work fine.
3) Is their only connection to the vehicle wiring at the harness connector behind the passenger kick panel? I checked it, and it is well connected.
4) Is there a connection on the headlight switch? I've not checked there.
I bought this vehicle 14 years ago and they were already installed, and have worked perfectly since then. I hate stuff that doesn't work...
Having this issue and what could be the solution?
View 8 RepliesThe water level is up, the heater hose is hot on both sides of the heater hose bypass valve, the MtrCrft thermo is pretty new, but it blows cool air out the vents even after a half hour of driving. It was working great last week and then nothing. I guess you can see the blend door moving if you pop the glove box out?..........haven't tried that.

View 12 RepliesI have a 2000 Ex V10 with 170,000 miles and the passenger side headlight stopped working. I changed out the bulb and when that didn't fix it, I changed out the harness.
The driver side headlight works fine as well as all of the other lights. What to look at next.

View 3 RepliesMy speedometer stopped working yesterday after i replaced the 2 cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. When i connected the the battery the horn started blasting and I went over tap the horn then it stopped. Then i noticed that the horn did not work anymore. I put back the original cruise control buttons and still did not work .So know instead of fixing the cruise control buttons, I broke the horn and the speedometer while the cruise control is still broken. I checked the fuses and they all are good. What can it be ?

Last week wife's right rear turn signal/brake light stopped working. The left one flashes normally. The right tail light works fine which is a different bulb. I tried changing bulbs (didn't work).....tried a new socket with new and old bulb (didn't work). Could it be a relay? Or not relay as they would be both out (left and right)?
I looked at my trailering wiring plug down by bumper and the white wire with green stripe looks split a little towards the end. Could it be a bad ground or short in that wire? Would the trailering wiring have anything to do with it? I was going to try to replace the relay if I could find it, what is the part number for it.
2004 Excursion 4x4 6.0. I just had the fuel injectors & wiring harness replaced and it runs great, but after 30 minutes of driving the complete dash lights/gauges stopped working. I found that the #45 10amp fuse had blown so replaced it and after 20 minutes the same thing happened. While it was working all of the lights & gauges seemed to be working okay. This doesn't effect anything else, still starts & runs okay, turn signals work, head lights work, but the head light auto on/off doesn't.
View 4 RepliesI'm having an issue with my backup sensors when its cold (40 and below). The issue is, they don't work. When I put it in reverse the sensor light on the dash comes on signifying they're off. I push the button to try to turn them back on and it stays on with no change. Once the outside temp heats up they start operating as normal. How to fix this?

I started to research if it could just be simple corrosion and decided to spray the contacts with CRC electronics cleaner. It completely fixed it.
Next, my parking brake light sensor stopped working so I did the same and it fixed it.
I began to research cleaning contacts and found a number of people in the automotive forums who basically spray contact cleaner on every electrical connection they ever touch.
I will do this in the future. The only part I wonder about is if there is something better to spray on them to prevent further corrosion in the future. I used dielectric grease but it would be nice to just spray the thing down. However, CRC does say their electronic cleaner prevent future corrosion.
Just stopped working. The fans of course blow fine and the air vent changes from top to bottom and the like. I checked the fuses and looks OK. I measured the voltages on the pressure switch and they read +5.0VDC and +4.7VDC to ground. The pressure switch itself measures 10.9K Ohms and 6.2 KOhms to ground from the two left pins. Is that the Ohms for LOW R134 ? I will try measuring with a manifold later but thought this might ring a bell. Is this style switch able to be JUMPED ? To see if it is only low pressure ? The ones I am used to have only 2 pins and this has three. I read +2.6VDC on the compressor clutch.
View 7 RepliesI've got a '06 passat. The a/c was working fine one day, and then the very next day it just stopped. the a/c light comes on when I push the button for it, but it won't blow cold air. I'm not sure if this is a common problem on passats or what's going on.
View 13 RepliesWell, as the cold weather has approached, a minor issue has surfaced.
It appears my driver-side mirror heater is not working. Both mirrors still move as they should, and the rear defroster and passenger side mirror both heat as the should with the defrost button, but the driver side does not, as it is cold to the touch and naturally did not melt the frost yesterday.
I looked at the fuses hoping it would be something as simple as that, but it does not appear there are separate fuses for each mirror; the naming is a bit cryptic, but it looks like there may be one for both mirrors, which logically would not explain the situation.
Seems to me the heater itself is defective, and I am not exactly looking forward to opening up the mirror and/or spending money to fix this...
The Prius is a 2006, and I am up to 256K KM (~160K miles) to date.
