Waiting on a flatbed ... Everything was normal and then my abs light comes on then crunching sounds from my left front. Would a hub or wheel bearing cause this?

View 14 RepliesHad crunching sounds from front passenger side. Replaced CVJ shaft and hub bearing/assembly noise gone but tire turns hard by hand drivers side turns freely. Looked on line and guy had same thing going on said maybe 4x4 vacuum actuator might be bad and truck stuck in four wheel .does this sound right? I have manual trans and gear box so I don't understand why the actuator is even there.
View 4 RepliesMy wifes 04 v6 touareg make noises now like either a computer crunching files or an electrical fire is about to happen?? the weird thing is when i turn off the display on the dash thru the menu it stops making the noise ?? its not loud enough to hear with the stereo on but it is when its off. the sound itself seems to be coming from the center of the display area over the steering wheel.
View 2 RepliesMy rear bushings on my 1997, A4 Audi, make a crunching thumping sounds when the body torques over irregular surfaces. My Audi mechanic says that it is the bushings. Replacing the A frames and bushings will cost more than half the car's worth. I belief that dust got into the bushings when I went on dirt roads in Death Valley or they are just worn. When I blast the bushings with water the noise disappears or dampens for a while. Car has 186,000 miles. To keep the noise down, can I add graphite or some other material to the bushings?

When making slow left turns, and sometimes hitting bumps going straight at low speeds 15-35 mph I hear and feel a crunching noise right below the gas pedal floor board area. I;ve had it checked out on a lift plus sitting on the ground and no none can figure out where the crunching (or banging) noise is coming from. Ball joints & tie rods are good, had them checked.
I bought the truck a yr ago and do not know much history of the vehicle. Is does still have the stock wheels, michlin tires and suspension. Ball joints and tie rods were replaced some time ago, not sure when...
I had a flow master 50 sieries on my v10 and it sounds like something rattling around when towing. Guess i will have to find something different later on.
View 13 RepliesTried to start my 2002 7.3 Ex today and it tries to start but than sounds like something is grinding, on a 2nd or 3rd try it starts. The sound is similar to if you try to start an already running vehicle.
View 3 RepliesNoise on acceleration, sounds like a miss but engine feels good and no check engine light, eventually goes away, not there under a load either, idk totally stumped.
View 10 RepliesExperienced the crazy sounds coming from the front end when making a turns, like a squealing sound, 2000 Ex 4wd, truck in 2wd high axles are unlocked. replaced steering box.
View 3 RepliesMy 1998 Forester suddenly began pulsing / crunching sound, from the front brakes. I had just performed full brake inspection 2 weeks before. So I removed the ABS fuse (20 amp), and the problem disappeared. Of course the ABS light is also on now, but I can drive the car. I disconnected the 4 wheel sensors from the car harness, connected an oscilloscope to each, and spun the wheels pretty fast. I get 150 MV peak-to-peak from each sensor. Must I replace the "tone rings", or just wire-brush them? Replacing the rings are a BIG job, and the wheel bearings & seals must be replaced, since they don't survive pulling out the axles from the steering knuckle (front), or strut assembly (rear).

Stopped at a light and suddenly it sounded like fireworks were exploding overhead! The car was acting completely normal.
Light turned, about 15 minutes to ride home, just heard an occasional pop here and there.
Got home. Turned off the car and walked up the driveway. Suddenly the popping happened again. Again it was like fireworks going off, or thunder.
So, I have this problem that comes back when the temperatures drop below about 20 degrees F. The truck is a 2012 F350 diesel with 15k miles and has done it since it had 3,000 miles on it. When turning in an intersection, or just moving the steering wheel left to right, it makes a clunking sound up in the front steering area and you can feel it a little as well. I have taken it to the dealer and they tightened the body mounts, but that did nothing. Once it warms up, the sound is gone.
This, coupled with the rear end clunking loudly over every bump and pothole when it is cold out, makes this truck a real noisy/annoying vehicle in the winter.
Here is a video of the steering noise, it is louder in person: [URL] ....
2012 truck, started making a noise today. I cannot tell what it is, but seems to be coming from the passenger front suspension, its a crunching/light clunking sound, happens when going over bumps, when the truck pitches one way or the other turning, and coming to a stop....
Truck has 6k miles, I did a quick visual inspection this afternoon, didn't notice much, but the sway bar endlink looked a bit odd though, not sure if normal, its gota little bend too it and seems to just contact the vac line mounted behind it, seemed unusual...
Maybe its its just one of the crappy rancho branded shocks is junk?
i have a 2000 ex,6.8 4x4.every now and then the dome light stays on.theres also a problem where theres a buzzing sound coming under dash while driving and makes the dome light flicker.these are seprate problems.lol.when the buzzing sound is present ,it stops when i open the door, running or not.but starts up again when i close it,even happens occasionaly when ignition is off and no key in ignition.electrical problems are my worst night mare!!!!!!!! My battery is dead in the morning when this is happening .oh yea,and the o.d.light flashes occasionaly as well.im totally lost.
View 6 RepliesMy 05' scion xa has always had a problem with vibration and some vibration sounds when stopped at a light or parked but both go away when i put the vehicle in neutral. It got so bad at one point the seats would shake, i took it to toyota and they replaced all the engine mounts. The vibration isn't as bad but very noticeable. Could it be the A/C? The problem exists with or w/out the A/C on including the heat.
View 2 RepliesI was putting my rear driver window up yesterday, and I hear a crunching noise.....it struggled, but I was able to get it back up. What should I do? I'm thinking it's the regulator, or a clip came off of the window, etc.
View 11 RepliesI'm hearing a crunching/rattle sound from the front right end of my 2007 B6 Wagon, 3.6L, Auto, Sport Pkg, FWD w/ 45k miles. I'll try to characterize what I'm hearing and when I hear it...
In the morning, when I've driven less than 2-3 miles and I go over a speed bump (i creep over the bumps) I hear what sounds to be like an un-oiled/worn out spring like sound coming from the front right side of the car. I don't think I hear any other sort of noise at all while driving (or if I do, it's very faint and barely noticeable).
After I've driven 25 miles or so at highway speeds (at the end of my daily commute), when I'm around 25 mph (independent of accelerating / decelerating / applying brakes) I hear what sounds to be a metal on plastic-like loose wobbling rattle (great description, right??) coming from the front right end. It gets pretty loud. However, if I go over a speed bump after having driven a good distance...guess what...no "worn out spring sound", just the rattle @ 25mph.
The rattle sound definitely 'peaks' in loudness at 25mph. If I listen carefully, I can hear it at other speeds, but it is less noticeable. I don't feel like I hear it at all at 40+ mph. I'm pretty sure the rattle is rotationally dependent (e.g. the faster wheel turn, the higher frequency of the rattle).
My tires are worn pretty unevenly, so there is a very annoying wobble/hum at all speeds, but I don't think it has to do with the tires. So to recap, it sounds like a rusty spring when going over a speed bump when the car is 'cold'. After driving a long time, no rusty-spring sound going over speed bumps, but I hear a pretty significant rattle around 25mph.
I bought a mk iv 2.0 GTi last week and twice now I've heard a sound what i can only describe as someone stamping on an empty can after switching off the ignition and opening the driver side door.
The sound, sounds like it comes from under the bonnet.
The car runs sweet engine is all clean sounds ok no other knocks or bangs.
What could be causing this? It seems to happen after the engine is warm and I've given it some throttle but only when the engine has just been turned off.
For the past year I've had the front end squeaks and crunching from my 06 Sonata LX with 97k miles. It started with just going over bumps, then progressed to basically any movement of the body up and down. It's worse in the cold, but an issue all year.
I just did shocks and struts all around, with the mounts. Didn't affect the sounds at all. At 97k, the original shocks/struts were woefully dead. At least the car rides 10x better now.
Yesterday I changed out the sway bar end links with Moog K80949's. It does sound like some of the "crunching" is gone, and now we're back to just squeaking. I think even some of the constant squeaking over fairly normal roads is gone.
So, what's up next? The FSM suggest the lower control arm, which I'd prefer not to do. Sway bar bushings could be an option, but they looked kind of like a PITA to get to.
I've had my '97 Silly-Car since 2000 and it's been the best vehicle I have owned. I've been keeping up on the basic maintenance and what-not as well (getting a new motor mount and the PS pump released soon). I'm up to about 278K and aside from burning more oil (approx 1.5 qts after a 1300 mile trip - time for rebuild?/toss?), it's running beautifully. Anyhow, recently I got in, started up, shifted into Drive and heard a crunching noise.
I've talked with the mechanic dude (about 20 yrs as a 'Toyota dealership mechanic, then went off on his own) up the road I take my car to all the time and he says he's never had to replace one of those.
I've looked around here and there to try to figure out what exactly to get to replace it, but I'm not really sure what the piece is called. I do know that 'plastic gear selector cover things' does not come up with any matches lol. Perhaps it's just a part of a whole 'assembly' I have to get, or maybe just get a blank piece of thin black plastic and trace out a new one *shrugs*. I'm just kinda not wanting to accidentally drop anything (coins that get tossed in the ashtray lol) down in there.
As the title suggests, I am getting a crunching noise when I turn left on my 2013 Passat SE. It sometimes occurs when turning right also, but doesn't happen as often as turning left. Hard to describe it any other way. What could be causing this noise?
