I'm having with my Ex. When I have the A/C (or heat) on, it seems to only blow out the front windshield defroster. Once in a while it'll blow out where it should, but 99% of the time it only comes out the defrost. This is when I have it on face, face/feet and feet.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2003 Excursion 7.3 2WD Limited and all of the sudden experienced a number of issues all at once.
1. Turn signals stopped flashing (hazards still flash)
2. Lost Rear back up sensors
3. Lost overhead trip computer
4. Lost Rear A/C - switch does nothing
5. Front A/C now only blows through the defroster vent
I've checked all the fuses and cant find any bad ones.
I replaced the multi-switch flasher and turn signals still dont work - only hazards.
2006 Harley Edition F250 6.0 Diesel
When temp outside is around 75 degrees or cooler blows and switches between different settings as normal. A/C will blow hard thru dash vents and freeze you out. When it gets hot outside it will only blow thru defrost!!!! So on wat to work in morning everything is perfect - driving home from work when it is 100 outside it only blows thru defrost (cold cold air though).
Confusing the heck out of me because a vacuum leak doesn't care about the outside temperature.......
The A/C went out on my 2000 Nissan Quest. I took it to the shop and they couldn't find the problem and recommended not replacing the it because of the age and value of the car. However, the defroster doesn't work so it's almost impossible to see when it rains because the windshield has so much moisture on the inside. There is nothing blowing on it. Opening the windows did not work.
View 9 RepliesHaving issues with the blend door on the AC system. I will have it on AC or MAX AC. I will have it on the setting to be point out of the dash at me. It occasionally will switch to the defrost windshield setting. I can hear the blend door moving and changing from chest level to the windshield.
View 12 RepliesI'm working on a 2003 that the front wiper and sprayer quit working on. The rear wiper and sprayer still work fine. We replaced the multifunction switch and no change. I would like to test the motor before we keep throwing parts at it.
View 5 Repliesi have noticed that with my 08 that occasionally when driving after a rain the windshield will fog up on the inside with the defroster on and set at roughly 73 deg. I also notice that under a/c auto occasionally the window will fog up a little right around the vents, just under normal driving.

Its almost like something is either blocking the air or maybe a fan is dying?... still blows hot hair to defog my windshield but doesn't have the force it used to have. What are the things for me to check?

View 2 RepliesMy windshield and side window defroster vents have not been working but every other air feature on the air system works fine. When I switch to the defroster, air just continues to come out of the front vents and not out of the defroster vent located on the top of the dash. I plan on going to dealership to have it checked out. I have looked through my hayne's book with no luck. One of my buddies said it could be a relay or something but I have not been able to find a relay specific to the defroster. Just wanted to get this sorted out because it takes longer than usual to defog/defrost my windows now without this feature working correctly.
I have a 2003 Honda Accord EX V-6 Coupe with dual climate control.
Now that the weather has gotten very cold, I used the rear windshield defroster a couple of times this week. The smell that it emits is absolutely disgusting, I had to turn it off. The front defroster isn't much better. What could be causing it? Also the rear defroster, when working, defrosts the window in a "V" shape, meaning the center is clear but the sides and top/bottom are still frosted. I have a 2014 GLS.
View 21 RepliesThe wife and I went out for lunch yesterday and I ran into some odd stuff with my A/C on the way home.
I had the A/C set and to blow out from the front dash, after a couple moments I noticed the noise level of the A/C blowing change and there was no longer any air coming from the front of the dash but rather from the top as if I turned on the defroster for the windshield.
I tried multiple settings both with and without the rear climate control running, same problem. It would intermittently switch to blowing from the defroster, and sometimes it would switch back on its own.
I thought blend door only adjusted temperature. Mine is manual? System no ECM control. Need defrost....
View 14 RepliesI am having heat issues with my 2004 Prius. Recently it has been difficult for the defroster to keep the windshield clear and the heat output is clearly not normal. It's chilly here in Vermont so having heater is important. I have been doing some reading in this forum and have gained some insight into how the heating system works.
One observation I notice is that the radiator does not seem to get hot at all. If I open the cap on clear overfill tank under the hood it appears to be full. In fact the coolant seems to be circulating through this tank. If I dunk my finger into the fluid it is only warm. There is a warning about not opening when hot but it is not hot so I can open it.
As I sit in the car I can hear liquid circulating through in the dash board area. When I change heater setting to enable different vents and defrost each change produces sounds that would make me believe the mechanical things are working ok. It's just not very warm.
So the rear defroster tab has popped off the window. I purchased this kit from O'Reillys but when I clipped the wire back onto the tab it popped the tab right back off. I even waited 48 hours instead of 24 so it had plenty of time to set, even with the cooler temperatures. Okay, so I forgot about it until I took the stroller out and noticed the trim laying in the back of the X... but still, plenty of time to bond well. I'm thinking of calling a glass shop & seeing what they'll charge to reattach.

I'm wondering if this is a starter issue because the battery seems to be fine (can turn on radio, lights are working). The strange thing i noticed was that the light on the rear windshield defroster was blinking. I haven't turned that on in months.
Also, is this covered under warranty ? I bought the extended warranty when i purchased the vehicle in 2008. If i'm not mistaken I'm still covered under it. Is there a place (online) where i could check my extended warranty period ?
Today im driving along in my 2000 X v-10 limited and had the AC blowing on high. All of a sudden it started to blow out the defroster vents, then back to the correct dash vents, then back and forth intermittently.....No vacuum leaks that I could find.. Is that controls what vent doors open to control air flow?

I have switched relays for testing. The fuse is good. The truck has heated mirrors. Are they related to the rear glass issue?

2003 ford excursion xlt, 4x4, v10, auto.
My rear window defroster does not work. I have no power to the switch. on the reply I do have power to terminal 30 on the relay. If I use a jumper wire between 30 and 87 it works. I think the problem is terminal 86 should have power when thever key is in run position but it doesn't. I have the factory wiring diagram book but am at a loss. It seems to me it is more of a mechanical connection inside the junction box but there are other components on the circuit that work.
Just passed 30 months and 30k miles in my 2012 TDI SEL and suddenly the air conditioning fans blow harder as I press on the accelerator pedal.
To be more clear, as I accelerate, I can hear the windshield/defogger fans blow harder. When I let up on the accelerator the fan noise dies down. I tried adjusting the A/C settings to blow to the middle or feet only, and also enabling/disabling cabin air circulation. It only seems to be the defogger fans that do this.
