View 8 RepliesI got a 04 V10 6.8L excursion with now all of a sudden the clutch won't engage in the compressor. Is there a shut off switch I don't know about or do I have to replace the whole compressor.
View 11 Repliesthis thing stopped working on me today, can i fix it? or how can i get another one?

I have a 2004 Big X. Original alternator was replaced as it only was producing 9 volts under a load. Replacement alternator failed within a day. Did I just get a bad re-manufactured one or would something else cause failure?
View 14 RepliesI just bought my excursion, an 04 and the trip computer is not working, its dead, when the truck lights are on, the two buttons above light up, but thats it, its as if it has no power, I cant find a fuse for it directly?
View 10 RepliesMy keyless keypad has stopped working on my 04 Excursion, what could be wrong.
View 7 Replies2004 Excursion 4x4 6.0. I just had the fuel injectors & wiring harness replaced and it runs great, but after 30 minutes of driving the complete dash lights/gauges stopped working. I found that the #45 10amp fuse had blown so replaced it and after 20 minutes the same thing happened. While it was working all of the lights & gauges seemed to be working okay. This doesn't effect anything else, still starts & runs okay, turn signals work, head lights work, but the head light auto on/off doesn't.
View 4 Replies2003 Excursion won't shift into 1st or 2nd; P,R,N,D all work fine though. I checked the fluid and the level seems fine. (probly needs to be replaced though...) The truck runs brilliantly, but I just noticed this last weekend that she won't shift down into 2nd or 1st manually. We drove up to the top of a lava dome and I was gonna shift down for the drive down and it wouldn't go.
140k on it if I remember right.
Finished my flush, but now it won't shift to reverse unless i shift all the way to drive first. I thought it might be the hard shifting lever(i think something is up with the linkage), so i shifted to neutral, then reverse, but no success. It's still about 1/4-1/2" overfilled, I jsut ran to the hardware store and it's consistently still not shifting to reverse unless I take it all the way to drive first.
Really hoping I didn't break something in the process... I did do the shifting through the gears while it was flushing out the old coolant, could the valve be stuck due to that?
I have a 2001 EX we did a little mudding and now its not shifting into 4th. We have flushed the trans and no shaving or anything. A few told us to change the speed sensor.
View 1 RepliesIt is a 2003 Excursion with V10, 4WD. When I start up and shift to reverse, the gear selector shows it moving, but the truck will not move. It just sits there and revs up. I have to shift back to park and then to reverse again, then you can feel the transmission dropping into reverse. It doesn't do this all the time. There is no pattern to it, just whenever the transmission feels like messing with me.
View 1 RepliesWhat causes this? I have to mess with the brake pedal for a while for it to finally register that i have my foot on the brake and let me shift out of park.
View 5 RepliesI had a minor front accident in my EX last week. Seemed fine to drive, AC worked radiator was oK. Shifted fine. Bumper was all jacked up. I took off the bumper and ordered a new one. In the meantime an employee of mine drove the EX on a short errand. Evidently there was a nick in the front tranny cooler hose that burst on the interstate. He put a few quarts in it and limped back to the farm where we fixed the leaking hose and refilled the tranny. As it is now, reverse works fine, but when shifted to drive it doesnt shift into 1st and could possibly be stuck in overdrive. If I turn off the overdrive button on the shifter, all gears work as they should except of course OD. if I'm at highway speed in 3rd gear, I can turn overdrive back on and it will shift into overdrive. If I stop, I have the turn off the overdrive button to use 1st 2nd and 3rd.
View 4 RepliesFuse #27 keeps blowing as soon as I shift into reverse.
Prior to shifting, everything works as it should - I've unplugged the rear sensors, back up lights, trailer plug, and each time, fuse #27 keeps blowing.....
Where I should look? Also - looking for a 2003 excursion wiring diagram that shows what all fuse#27 controls?
What would cause the reverse sensing system to illuminate the "OFF" light on its own when I shift into reverse? I cannot turn it back on unless I shift out of reverse. This problem has come and gone on its own several times and there is no rhyme or reason as to when or why.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2003 excursion with the V10. at the hunting camp I drove it into some water without knowing my neighbor had gotten stuck and left a BIG hole. It took an hour to pull it out with a tractor. The water was up to the floor boards. afterward the transmission would not shift past second. The OD light blinks. I left it for two days to dry out. Still no good. What I need to do to get it back going?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2000 Excursion w/ V10 and I have an issue with the transmission form time to time. some times it does not want to shift out of first. if I pull over and turn it off for a few minutes it will be fine for a while and it doesn't do this all the time. A few nights ago it did this so I pulled over and turned it off and it still did it but then it started shifting on its own just fine till we got on the high way which is started shifting in and out of over drive going around 60-65 MPH. didn't want to go too fast not knowing what it could or would do. it did this for a few miles then it started working fine. next day it did the same thing not wanting to shift out of first then started working fine. drove it around last night and it all worked perfectly. The CEL is on but I get a no communication text from the scanner so that is another thing I need to look in to. I'm guessing it is an electrical issue being when it works it shifts fine and it does not slip at all.
View 14 RepliesIt is a 2000 excursion its got codes # 135 155 443 743 755 1747 And overdrive light is flashing really....

The first pic shows the torx screws that come loose, allowing the handle to get sloppy.
The second pic shows the black plastic adjuster wheel that centers the gear shift selector needle on the proper designated gear displayed in the indicator window.
As it turns out, my shift cable wasn't bad. The transmission lever coming out of the transmission doesn't want to move very easily. When in gear, it shifts fine as it should, so I'm thinking something is bad with the lever. Problem is, I don't know what could possibly be causing it.
View 8 RepliesAbout three weeks ago driving. My truck would not shift come to find out it was a fuse that blew. Well I pull over and replace the fuse it starts right up I get about a mile from my house and it blows again so I shut off my x and then replaced the fuse. Will not start...
Now I am getting a Pats code 1:6 and my obd2 reader says no link on my x. It used to read it all the time. I am trying to figure out what I can check to fix this problem are there any relays. Oh also my check engine light does not come on when I turn the key but my truck does crank. does this mean there is no power to my ECU. I did replace my ecu and it did not solve the issue.
