So a line of panic stops on the highway last night and I lost - stopping an 8000lb rig compared to hondas, nissans, etc. Anyway I just kissed the corner of a nissan xterra and dented the steel part of my front bumper below the driver headlight. Nothing else. It is a 2002 all black limited.
I am wondering about fixing vs. buying a new bumper. A new one from the dealer is 436 and then needs to be painted.
So I have a 2009 metallic Prius and I just recently got into an accident. I ran over a fire hydrant. My front bumper went through a front collision. The left part of my front bumper is pretty much destroyed.

Today while driving a paving stone fell off the landscaping truck in front of me and (luckily) only came in contact with the black plastic air dam under the painted front bumper. The corner of the air dam is damaged and it looks like a 1 piece unit to replace. What is the part number of this piece?

It punctured the front right side and obvioulsly damaged the steering because now it drives terribly and instead of the steering wheel handles being side to side it is 90 degrees perpendicular. The service station I use said it has a bent frame and will need to be taken to a body shop. Will the cost to fix it be worth it especially due to its age?

I am debating removing this as I don't really need it for my driving and the extra 450 lbs and hanging out there in the wind can't be good for the suspension and economy. Any thoughts on this? View 14 RepliesMy bumper is moving when my ex isn't parked on flat ground. Almost like the frame is twisting. Enough that it shifted up and cracked my grill. What could be going on? I didn't snap a pic but I'll try to get one. Get back on flat ground and it relaxes back to where it should be, flat and level.
View 6 RepliesMy 2002 Excursion was rear ended. Body shop replaced the bumper. I noticed that the reverse aid was no longer working. I checked and noticed that non of the sensors were working. It was working before they replaced the bumper. If the speaker is out, would the four rear sensor still tick? I find it mighty strange, that it worked before and after the accident. Now that they've replaced the bumber, Every time it's placed in reverse, the light comes on.

I bought all the parts that need to be replaced (the left bumper end, the hitch itself, and the plastic bumper cover), gut am hesitant to try to change it all myself. How hard is it to change out all these parts? Is there a write-up any where out there for this?

View 4 RepliesI have a 2012 Accent GLS with premium package. So, this came with fog lights. Few months back, one of the fog lights got ripped of its place and the body shop said the hooks which hold the light are broken and whole bumper need to be replaced for the light to be attached and quote was given for around $750.
I contacted other small body shops to just stick the light with glue but no one accepted to do that.
I don't use those fog lights anyway. So, is it cheap in a way to remove the other fog light and just fill the fog light spots? When I say fill, I am not sure what those are called which exist in place of fog lights for a car with no fog lights. I think its better than just being with one fog light.
2002 Excursion 7.3l
Problem: Popping noise only on making turns, feels like its coming from underneath me. If i drive through a parking lot and jerk the wheel right and left I can make it do the same sound.
What's been done:
1. Replaced ALL the body mounts with new aftermarket mounts.
2. Replaced front leaf springs with new ubolts and everything
3. replaced sway bar end links
I took it to a local dealership to have them check it out (they are very trusted and reputable and I have an excellent relationship with them) and they thoroughly checked out everything. It's not the ball joints or anything front end (ball joints were replaced by them a year ago).
I'm at a complete loss, I feel I "attacked" all the common problems in these trucks that would cause that popping sound....what's left???
They assure me theres no safety issue or anything that would be a huge cause for concern, but that pop drives me a little crazy. I am a little OCD with my trucks.
