Ford Excursion :: 2000 V10 Does Not Even Turn Over Or Crank

Periodically my X doesn't want to start. Doesn't even turn over or crank. The weird thing is, sometimes it acts like the battery is too weak and the radio will flash on or maybe I hear a fast kink-kink-kink sound. Other times, it's just dead, like it doesn't even have a battery in it. Eventually it works again and cranks like a charm. Starts right up.

The ground from the battery to the fender looks good. I noticed the ground from the frame to the body was gone, so I replaced that. Didn't change a thing. I'm reading all the things it COULD be and I'm getting frustrated. I hate electrical problems.

I have a 2000 excursion with the 7.3 in it. When I turn the key it wont crank over but i can jump the selonoid and it will fire right up. I replaced the selonoid and I don't know what else it could be???

Still haven't found out the problem with excursion quitting it has stopped for good this time cranks but wont start, fuel pump and filter have been replaced shop said it was going bad, sent to dealer twice no fix.

Ford Excursion :: Long Crank Required To Turn Over V10 - Fuel Pressure Dropped

Ok. So. 2005 excursion v10 270k miles. Never ever had an issue starting. Today it was about 30 degrees in Detroit. Had to crank for about 4 seconds. Usually it turns over within one second of cranking. So I get to work and hook up a fuel pressure tester to it. Got to 35psi while running, upon shutting off it dropped to 0 within 30 seconds. I have no codes. And absolutely no drive ability issues. No gas smell. And I'm really hoping its just z fuel pump check valve cause then I can just prime it by doing key on key off then crank...also hoping not injector cause I won't be able to pull the injectors till Sunday snd I really don't wanna hydro lock my motor >.< best way to test injector/fuel pump valve? I like to fix issues as soon as they pop up. Wanna get my v10 to 400k.

Ford Excursion :: 2000 V10 Won't Start / Truck Will Not Even Crank / Relay Will Continue Clicking

2000 excursion V-10. I parked the truck, went back to start it and all my gauges blink, and the number one relay under the dash (interior light relay) begins clicking. The truck will not even crank. The relay will continue clicking (even with the key off) until you remove and replace the relay. Sometimes I will get absolutely nothing when I turn the key. I have tried jumping the battery, no change. Also tried starting it in neutral to trouble shoot the NSS, but it won't even click when in neutral. I checked battery connection, and followed the battery cables to look for a short but found nothing.

Jimmy :: 2000 GMC Won't Start - No Crank When Turn The Key

I have a 2000 Jimmy and it just won't start. All lights come on and horn works. No crank when I turn the key. I had this problem before and the problem was a bad starter relay. I replaced the relay. The vehicle started up fine and ran fine for a few days. I went to start it this morning and it wouldn't. Battery is good, changed the plugs, wires, starter, cap and rotor within the last 8 months. Someone made a reference to my security system. Are there known electrical problems/interference between security system and other systems?

Ford Excursion :: 2000 V10 Won't Start / Engine Does Not Turn Over

My trusty 2000 v10 has begun to give us starting troubles. The symptoms are:

1) Most times it does start normally and runs great.
2) When it won't start - Engine does not turn over
3) Interior lights and other electrics work, battery reads 13v
4) There is a click from the relay when the key is turned
5) Wires look good, no corrosion found in fuse/relay boxes
6) No indication of funny stuff via dash board lights
7) I do not have a code reader

My resolution the past two times has been to verify volts and connections, then wiggle all fuses and relays, wiggle the shifter in the car, then it started.

I have checked the basics and have become suspicious of sensors after running the Pinpoint Test A listed in another post by ~Christina. My forum research indicated that other people had problems with:

- transmission range sensor
- crankshaft sensor.
- cam sensor

So how does one go about finding the location of and testing these? Are there other sensors to investigate?

Ford Excursion :: 2000 V10 - Start Then Instantly Died Now Does Not Turn Over

I have a 2000 V10 X and am having some starting issues.

Drove her to the store and she was fine. Went to drive home and she started to start, but instantly died. Then after that she wouldn't start at all...does not turn over. Had her towed home (which was fun...front wheels of flatbed came off the ground a little while loading her lol) and I have replaced the starter and the battery...still the same thing.

Thinking maybe the starter solenoid on the fender. Looks like a previous owner has installed something and ran power lines to the starter solenoid. Not quite sure what it is.

Ford Excursion :: 2000 - Oil Light On / Pressure Drops - Motor Won't Even Turn / Just Clicks

Had 2 coils go bad last week. Got them replaced. Today I am on the turnpike doing 70 and my oil light comes on and oil pressure drops all the way. No engine noises and temp is OK so I coast to the next exit. Get off and go to the gas station in the corner. Turn the truck off...

Wait a few minutes, when I go turn it back on it wont start. The motor wont even turn. It just clicks.

I notice smoke coming from the wire that goes from the starter relay to the starter so my brother comes and gets me and we go to the nearest auto part store and buy a new relay.

Replace it and try to start it, same thing. Just clicks and smoke. My brother gets under the truck and taps the starter as I try to start it, no go. I am fearing the engine locked up. But no engine noises, clicks or clacks or anything. Battery is fine as well. Any thoughts on what else I can try?

Ford Excursion :: 2000 Suspension Noise / Bump Type Sound Whenever Turn A Corner

Just purchased a 2000 V10 Limited with 117000 miles on it. Absolutely love it....just have a noise that is bugging the crap out of me. My husband doesn't think it is a big deal, but I would love to find out what it is without dropping 60 bucks at the dealer.

Whenever I turn a corner that is a tad bumpy it makes a bump type sound. It usually happens only when one side is going over the bump. It is pretty loud. IT will happen also when I am going down my dirt road without turning but when one tire goes over a bump the truck kind of shifts from side to side and the sound starts.

We have thought it could be the shocks or maybe the springs making that kind of sound. My husband is clueless and he knows alot about vehicles. I just hope my description wasn't too vague.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2003 F350 - No Crank / Does Not Even Try To Turn Over When Turn The Key

A month ago I got into my truck in the morning and when I turned the key to Run everything lit up like normal and after the glow plugs warmed up, I turned the key and there was about a two second delay between me turning the key and the engine cranking over.

The next couple times I tried starting the truck that same morning I had to try to start it a couple times because it wouldn't try to crank over the first couple times but it would always eventually start.

It's been continuing to give me problems but never stopped running once it was started and then this morning I tried starting it for 45 minutes with no luck.

What I have tried so far is:

Resetting batteries
Jumping the truck
Checked to see if the starter is getting power. ( I put wire testers on it while someone else started and I didn't get a good reading even when it did start. New starter was put in 9 months ago.)
I also made sure wire going to starter wasn't corroded
Battery terminals are also not corroded
Checked fuses
Tried starting truck with fan clutch disconnected
Cussing at it
Tapping starter with a hammer while trying to start it

Also, everything sounds perfectly normal when I turn the key, it just doesn't even try to turn over.

Ford Excursion :: 2004 V10 Won't Start / No Crank At All

Tried starting the Ex for the first time in two weeks and it won't start -- no starting problems before. Battery is 4 months old and fully charged. When I try to start it electrical power is there (gauges act normal) but no crank at all -- motor does not turn over. Its acting like a switch or some electrical connection is bad. I tried moving the gear selector around to make sure it is in Park....... also tried starting it in neutral but no luck.

Ford Excursion :: No Start / Would Barely Crank

My Excursion didn't start the other day. It would barely crank. A new Interstate battery was installed about a year ago.

I jumped it and it fired right up. I went inside and left it running for about 20 minutes.

The next day I started it up and drove about 5 miles. I noticed whenever I was braking both the audio and lights on the radio would cut out.

It sat for about 4 hours and then wouldn't start again. I jumped it again and stood next to it while it was warming up.

I noticed the interior lights got dim, the radio cut out again, and then the entire gauge cluster went crazy. The needles were jumping around and would then shut off, then jump around again. Whenever I increased the RPMs the problems would stop.

I got home and it sat for about an hour. I tried to start it again and it would barely crank.

I'm trying to avoid a trip to the parts store to have the alternator tested since I'll have to jump it again... and worse, I could get stuck on the side of the road if it completely dies.

I'm guessing the alternator is shot. Could it be anything else?

I have a 99 excursion and it has me confused. I had the transmission replaced in it about 3 weeks ago. I parked it about a week ago and it was idling fine I turned it off and now it won't crank over. I have already replaced the starter and the starter solenoid. A friend suggested that there might be an engine ground strap in the area of the transmission that became loose with the recent transmission swap. Ford Excursion :: 2004 - Slow Crank When Sits For A While

2004 LTD 220K miles.

Starting to rust and trying to decide if its time to part with it. Runs perfect. But started having the slow crank when sits for a while. Yesterday would not start at work. Battery new. Volts test good when running. Alternator replaced before but could not tell you if it was 100K miles ago or 50K miles ago.

Anyway, started the look for drain process by putting multimeter in series in neg post. Drain is .135 A. Started the fuse pulling but every time I open door I have to wait a while for lights to go off and acc to turn off before it settles to .135A. Is there a way to trick the car into thinking doors are closed?

Ford Excursion :: 2002 V10 - Crank But Never Fire / No Spark No Fuel

2002 X w/ V10..

Drove to walmart the other day. Ran Great. Put a new battery in my spare key and tried it but anti-theft light came on. thought maybe battery was in backwards so turned it around and tried again still nothing. So tried original key and would not start. It would crank but not fire. (found a post stating that it was part of the anti-theft system to keep from just trying different keys) I let it sit for a little while and it started.

Drove home put new locking hubs in the front and took it for a drive. Started fine. Wife the next day went to work with it ran great. When she went to leave, it would not start. after about an hour it started for her and drove home with out issue. Next day I went out and it started for me first try. Then it started to just crank and never fire. After a while it started and I was able to start it a couple of times with out a problem then it stopped again. Since then I have not been able to get it to start.

I say I have no spark only cause I have tried to use starting fluid to at least get it to fire but nothing.. It doesn't sound like the fuel pump is kicking in either. Is there something that would shut these systems down that I am over looking..
