Ford Excursion :: 2000 - Transmission Slipping In Overdrive

I have an unmodified 2000 Excursion 7.3. with 239000 miles on it. My transmission started to slip in overdrive. I could turn off the OD and it would run fine. I was in upper Wisconsin headed home to Georgia and figured the cold had something to do with it. Drove sixty mile with OD off turned it back on shifted fine and drove 750 mile to Paducah, KY stopped to eat and it started down the road and it slipped again.
Drove 45 miles stopped added 8 oz of tranny fluid and it drove fine back to a friends house and after I dropped him off and headed home it started again. The tranny is serviced every year, new filter, drained torque converter. I use Amsoil Synthetic ATF. I have used the truck to tow a 10000lbs trailer over 65000 miles. I was not towing when this occurred. What is going on? I guess what I am asking is my tranny about to become toast or am I looking at something that can be fixed easily.

, My 1997 Buick Lesabre transmission slips at random when I shift into overdrive. I have my mechanics look at the transmission and have them drive the car to recreate the problem and what do you know the car doesn't do it. I made a post about this problem a while back and it wasn't the A/C that was the problem. I do not drive fast in the car and I checked the Transmission dipstick and the fluid is still red and at the full mark. I brought my car to Auto zone to check the codes but all i get is a loose gas cap.

So while driving to work I start experiencing some weird behavior with the transmission. It would shift hard and seem like it wasn't pulling hard at all. I looked down and saw the overdrive off light flashing. Got to work, turned the car off then started back up and the light was off. Any thoughts?

My X has started shuttering in overdrive this morning. I have taking it out of overdrive and seems to go away , maybe a slight notice.....
It did shutter one time at about 2000 rpm while power braking.... but cant get it to do that every time.... possible coil...???

2001 Excursion V10 with E4OD. Transmission is around 4 years. Old with 40-50K on it. Here's my timeline of problems.
Day 1. Went to dive and it slipped and caught taking off. Never felt that before. I drove it about 7 miles, no problem, when coming to a stop it stuttered a little. Checked fluid it was OK. Added some SeaFoam. Seemed worse and thought I was outta luck.
Day 2. I dropped the pan and found the normal metal around magnet plus a few metal shavings(not brass). Not many. I took it to a tranny guy and he said something inside has failed but he wasn't sure what. I changed filter, used same fluid as it looked ok, put it back together and added Lucas treatment. It moves ok, still slipping around 15% of the time on takeoff. After moving it runs/shifts great.

I was driving my 7.3 down the road and it started acting like the trans was slipping, it revved up and tried kicking down a couple times and when I slowed down and went to speed back up it just had no power coming through the trans to the wheels it just revved. I put it in neutral and it idled up for about 5 seconds. I put it in park n shut it down. I fired it back up after looking everything over and it moved about half mile down the road and no power to the wheels again. The trans is full of fluid, is there a sensor that could of went bad or just the torque converter or the entire thing shot? Only owned my truck 6 months has a trans and motor swap already from previous owner. 180k on current motor n Trans. 382k on my truck. t6 4" turbo back banks exhaust only mods I know of.

I have a 2000 Ford F450 7.3 4x4 dully with a PTO driven winch 108,000 miles. The truck has develop a transmission slip.
I have changed the transmission fluid twice and it drives better but it slips badly. I can drive it up to highway speeds but it has problems getting from 0 to 10 MPH. The transmission runs hotter then normal but nothing major maybe around 205 degrees
Do I need a complete rebuild? This is a beater truck that I use to tow mainly. It is not worth a major investment. I need the PTO gear and 4x4.
I have several 2000 through 2003 7.3 E350 and E450 short school buses. Does the transmission from these has a PTO gear? I am thinking of pulling the transmission from one of them and swapping it.
It looks like the transfer case just bolts to the back of the transmission; I believe that a 2wd van 7.3 transmission will work with the 2000 F450 setup.

When I accelerate in 2nd gear the rpms zoom and then it shifts into 3rd and the rpms quickly go back to normal. If I take my foot off the gas as soon as this starts the car goes into 3rd slower but the rpms don't zoom up. I've never had a car that had transmission problems. Is this what's referred to as a Transmission Slipping? Meaning that it needs to be replaced? My mechanic drove it and said the tranny could go in a week or in another 100,000 miles.

My daughter drives my old 2000 Chevy Blazer with a reconditioned transmission I paid for in Aug 2010. The new (rebuilt) transmission is now slipping. Could this be as simple as a fuse (electrical signal issue) or not having enough transmission fluid?

I just noticed last night that my transmission was slipping in 3rd gear, it's an automatic. I added just about a quart of transmission fluid today....took a little drive and it still seems to be having the same problem? What might be causing this besides needing to get a new/rebuilt transmission?

So I bought a 2000 Hyundai Accent for my 16 year old daughter and the guy sold me a car that has a slipping trans. So I went to the Autozone and had the codes pulled and it was a P0734 code. I replaced the trans fluid and replaced the internal bearing and shim with the 42220LK kit from whatever it takes transmission parts store. Trans still slips. What else or should I just unload it?

I'm the original owner of a 2008 Honda Fit Sport, Manual Transmission it has 134k miles original clutch. It feels like the transmission is slipping between 2,000 and 2,5000 RPM in 3rd,4th, and 5th gear. If I set it on cruise control with the RPM's between 2k~2.5k the car runs smooth and normal, but if I disengage the cruise control and accelerate, the transmission feels like it's slipping between 2k~2.5k RPM. Once it goes above 2,500 RPM the car accelerates normally.
So is this the transmission, the clutch or the engine? The car has been running fine and it suddenly started doing on Friday, my initial thought was that it needed a new clutch, however, the clutch is engaging fine and the feel that the transmission is slipping only occurs in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear between 2k ~ 2.5k RPM
If the transmission is bad, how much does it cost to repair?

2006 F250 5.4l 4x4, long box, quad cab
Current issue: No overdrive / slipping into neutral / rough going into reverse
Codes: I don't have exact code but will get (p0755)... but shows shifting solenoid B malfunction ( this is the OD/Reverse one) check engine light on and tow light blinking
So whats been done: shifting solenoid B (OD/Reverse) was replaced (used part) inspected valve body and o rings... all good... worked for a week... then exact same issue. Transmission showed no signs of gear damage, oil looks good
Next: Replaced shifting solenoid B again (new one) and transmission wiring harness. Still no change, same codes. Seems to be having a communication issue between transmission and PCM? However continuity of wires and connectors seems ok.
One more piece of interesting info. Every-time before the truck slips I hear clicking coming from the fuse/relay panel under dash drivers side. No clicking no slipping... however never goes into OD at any time.

2000 Hyundai Accent GS, 1.5l, 4cyl SOHC...
I have a slight issue. A few weeks ago, I put some "STP" style fuel injector cleaner into my gas tank. Either A) It cleaned everything really well and clogged my injectors, or it turned into gunk and possibly clogged something else up.
Ever since that day, my issue is that the car "stutters" very slightly. When idling, it'll "hiccup." When I'm doing normal driving, 55-60mph at 2k RPM, It'll almost feel like a transmission slip.
I've went and replaced my Fuel pump, filter, and now I've done half a can of seafoam through the brake line power booster (vaccuum) straight into the engine, and the other half into my oil for further cleaning. I also applied Seafoam Deep Creep into my throttle body, just for further maintenance.
Ever since then, everything has been running noticeably better, and I've had a huge increase in gas mileage, but there's still a slight hiccup that occurs during idle and driving.
I change the oil /filter, plugs, wires, air filter on a regular basis.
I also had to change the MAF at one point in time, as it died and the car wouldn't start at all.
Next thing I'm thinking about doing is changing the plugs / wires one more time (it's been about 5 months since my last change) just to see if I bought a faulty plug.
The car was put on a computer and the only error code that came up was one about my check engine light being out.

I have a 2000 dakota in the morning after the first start, moving foward the truck rocks and feels like trans. slipping. After 5 mins, just fine. Change the Trans. Ffilter?

My 2004 Accent transmission with 145k miles all of a sudden started slipping while driving. It would be fine until i needed to slow down and then step on the gas again. It wouldn't catch right and it would slip. At first the pull of the slip was very slight and at times now it is very rough. My check engine light does not turn on when it slips slightly, but only when it has a really rough slip will it turn on. I had it checked at the local advance auto parts and i was told it has a 4th gear ratio that is off. The only thing that confuses me is that when i turn the car off and on it resets and works fine, that is until it slips again. If i drive carefully it usually wont slip. Could it be an electrical problem?? I changed my speed sensor when my car had about 132k miles because it went out, i replaced my ignition coils, new spark plugs/wires, tranny oil change, and filter change.

I have a 2000 mercury cougar 2.5 liter. I bought the car without doing much research. now that i have the car did research and found out all the great problems that this car has. My transmission started to make a clunk clunk noise inside and it started to slip. At first it would go on all gears. then very rapidly started to slip in all gears. In matter of hours went from being good to being crap. i had to accelerate the car to 3000rpm or higher to make the car start moving. So i bought a transmission from a junkyard. I install it and did not work. The car did not move on any direction. I pull it out and look at it and found the small shaft that goes from the torque converter to the gear body was broken. I end up getting another transmission from the junkyard. I check it and everything looked good. I install it and got everything back together and that work on reverse but no forward. To get it on reverse I had to accelerate the car to 3000rpm. I being told that if I change the solenoid inside the transmission might fix the problem. It could be the transmission module that is burned out.

I have a 2001 Accent GL 1.6L Automatic.
Yesterday it started acting up on the freeway. I was driving about 50 during traffic hour when it started revving. I got off the freeway and moved to 35mph on surface streets, the revving continued at lower speeds but much worse (4-5k rpms going 10-15mpg). Doesn't seem to do it in idle or park. If i shut the car off it'll drive fine for a while then start acting up but when I was driving, after awhile, it did return to normal.
What could cause the problem? TPS? Transmission? Sensor of some sort?

Okay so I have a 2003 Toyota Camry with 358, 000 miles. I replaced the transmission in 2010 with a gently used one that only had 100, 000 in it. Out had been running great until today when it started slipping in and out of overdrive. I had to turn the o/d off just to drive home and not get it over fifty. Now I don't know if I need to change the filter and fluid or just take it to a mechanic. I read on another site not to change the fluid and filter at such high mileage b/c the clutch and guys might rely on the friction of the gunk in the fluid and that new smooth fluid might keep it from running right.

My '89 Ford Crown Victoria Country Squire is a 5.0L with the AOD transmission. Yesterday, I slowed from 40 mph to 25 mph to turn on my street. As I drove up the street's slight incline I noticed the acceleration was sluggish as if the transmission had not downshifted from 4th to 3rd. When I stopped to back into my driveway, the engine shuddered and stalled as if it was hooked to a manual transmission and I had released the clutch with the shifter in an upper gear. My wife had to push the car into the driveway (she is a Minnesota farm girl ).
Now the engine starts normally with the gear selector in Neutral. It shudders and stalls the moment I try to put it in any gear or Park. The engine will not start in Park, but once again, balks as if I was trying to start a manual transmission equipped car without depressing the clutch or taking it out of gear.
The transmission and engine had been working perfectly before the above sudden problems. My guess is that the transmission is somehow stuck in overdrive.
Is there any way to knock it out of 4th gear? Why would the engine start in Neutral but not Park? It is the original AOD transmission with over 230K miles on it, but this car has at least nine lives and I am hoping this is another serious problem that turns out to be not so serious!

I cant replicate the sound when its in park so i did a very dangerous diagnosis having a friend stomp on the break in gear and rev the engine to exactly 2000rpm as i searched for the sound. The sound is coming from in front of the transmission. I had removed the inspection cover as per another members fix for this sound and its still there. Could it be the torque converter touching something after it flexes at that speed?.
